Merlin is surprised to soon discover that Jamie Todd, a high school senior living half a world away in Chicago, is the one who can release him and wield the sword, Titan’s Blade. After Merlin is freed by Jamie, it is discovered he is a descendant of the Emerald Knight. With the help of Titan’s Blade, Jamie becomes proficient with his newfound weapons and becomes involved in skirmishes on the two sister worlds of earth: Mideron and Prathos. In the process, he falls under the spell of an elven enchantress while fighting wolflike warthes, trolls, and trogloks. Assisted by human warriors and dwarf and elfin armies, Merlin and Jamie join forces to save the three worlds before it is too late. Book The Temple and the Grail

Download or read book The Temple and the Grail written by W. F. Veltman and published by Temple Lodge Publishing. This book was released on 2021-06-04 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the popular imagination, the Holy Grail – part of the legendary romance of King Arthur – belongs to the realm of myth. The Knights Templar also have a legendary, enigmatic aspect. Despite the immense volume of historical research available, plausible explanations to the ‘mystery’ at the core of their practices have yet to be revealed. By studying these two themes side-by-side and showing their inner relationship, Veltman reveals valuable new perspectives. On the one hand he demonstrates that the ‘poetic imagination’ of the Grail mystery has its origin in concrete historical events; and on the other hand, that the true history of the Knights Templar is, essentially, esoteric. Combining historical research with insights gained from the work of Rudolf Steiner, Veltman presents an impressive survey of the subject, beginning with the pre-Christian Mysteries and ending with a vision of Michaelic Christianity. He analyses the significance of the holy city of Jerusalem, the Temple of Solomon, the Temple Legend, the Grail Temple, the Rosicrucians, the Templars’ gold, and the fraught question of evil. In addition, he sketches the continuation or metamorpho¬sis of the Grail and Temple impulses into the future, including the critical ‘balancing’ role of Europe between East and West. To become effective, this important European task – which, he says, is continually being thwarted – must be properly understood within the realm of human consciousness.

Book excerpt: In this swamp of murder and deceit, no one is safe! When the twentieth century was new, China Rose Fish Camp was a popular vacation spot for folks looking for a place to slow down. But these days the only regular visitors are the mosquitoes and gators–especially the fifteen-foot bull gator the locals call Big Ben. When Harry Pitts--the owner of China Rose--is found beaten to death, Florida PI Addie Gorsky takes on the case. Though the cops believe the bloody scene suggests a random act of violence, Addie believes the crime is connected to the disappearance of Harry's daughter eleven years ago at China Rose. While Addie knows that all murders begin in the past, even she is surprised at how deep the roots of Harry’s violent murder go–all the way back to the days of old Florida, to the time of wily pirates and proud conquistadors, and the trove of treasure that legend claims is still buried in this backwater. Addie dives headfirst into the wild heart of China Rose, surrounded by grinning gators, killer bees and gaping cottonmouths. But these predators pale in comparison to the cunning two-legged killer Addie is hunting…and who soon begins hunting her.

Book The Collected Letters of A W N Pugin

Download or read book The Collected Letters of A W N Pugin written by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin and published by Collected Letters of A.W.N. Pu. This book was released on 2001 with total page 751 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The importance of A. W. N. Pugin (1812-52) in architecture and design in England and beyond is incontestable. The leading architect of the Gothic Revival, Pugin is one of the most significant figures of the mid-nineteenth century and one of the greatest designers. His correspondence furnishes more insight into the man and more information about his work than any other source. This volume, the last of five, contains letters from 1851 and the first months of 1852; after that, Pugin's health failed and he died in September. In the great event of the period, the international exhibition held in the Crystal Palace in Hyde Park, the display of objects made to Pugin's design, which he planned and oversaw, was an outstanding success, bringing substantial commercial benefit to his colleagues and spreading Pugin's influence even more widely than before. The value of his judgment was recognized in his appointment to two committees in connection with the Great Exhibition. Frantic though the preparations for what came to be known as the Medieval Court were, Pugin made time to write for publication. He issued letters and pamphlets in explanation, defence, and support of the Catholic Church and its re-established hierarchy, and turned again to the conundrum that had long teased him, the relation between the faith and the form, not only architectural, in which it found expression. He completed the book on chancel screens conceived some years before. At home in The Grange at Ramsgate, he continued to design stained glass windows, for other architects as well as his own clients, and supervised the production of cartoons; he poured out designs in his usual fields of metalwork, ceramics, furniture, carving, and wallpaper, and branched out, not always happily, into new areas such as embroidery and the decoration of piano cases. The demand for drawings for Westminster, where the House of Commons was due to open early in 1852, was as incessant as ever. His last child, Edmund Peter, was born in 1851 only a few months before his first grandchild, Mildred. Both were baptized in the church of St Augustine which he was still building next to his house and where he himself was soon to be laid in the vault he provided for the purpose. The volume also includes some letters which have come to light too late for inclusion in their proper chronological places and some texts of doubtful authenticity.

Book Protean Shape

Download or read book Protean Shape written by Susie I. Tucker and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2014-01-13 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to let us see our language as a living and developing human activity in a period of history which offers special advantages for the purpose. Miss Tucker's method is to analyse in the course of a connected narrative a large, wide-ranging body of words and phrases from two principal points of view. In Part One, using as the basis of evidence and discussion a few representative critical journals, including those with which Johnson, Goldsmith, Smollett, and Burke were prominently associated, she asks how the eighteenth century looked at its own language: what, for example, it esteemed elegant or vulgar, held correct or a solecism, found new or old-fashioned, impressive or funny. In Part Two the emphasis shifts from the eighteenth century's views of itself to our views of the eighteenth century as we look back. Here the interest centres by contrast on our difficulties, our discoveries, and our conclusions and in the process our understanding of eighteenth century literature and manners is immeasurably sharpened.
