Download or read book The Memory Palace of Bones written by Jeff Rockwell and published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers. This book was released on 2023-03-21 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Memory Palace of Bones: Exploring Embodiment Through the Skeletal System is an unprecedented exploration of the anatomy of the bones of the body, and a unique set of reflections on the role each individual bone plays in our lives, looking at both its physical and energetic contributions. Written and presented in an imaginative and highly readable style, the book describes each individual bone and, where appropriate, the surrounding joints. It combines the anatomical expertise of the authors with their appreciation for the beauty of the body, presenting a unique perspective that values extensive clinical expertise as well as imagination as a source of wisdom and depth. Seeing and discussing bones as a wisdom source is a topic that until now has never been systematically covered. The Memory Palace of Bones will be read and treasured by practitioners and students of massage therapy, bodywork, movement professionals, Zero Balancers, chiropractors, osteopaths, Rolfers, body-centered psychotherapists, students and teachers of yoga, performing artists and other health professionals as well as by laymen wanting a greater understanding of and connection to their bodies.

This book was released on 2021-12-07 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a broad and timely perspective on research on olfaction and its current technological challenges. It specifically emphasizes the interdisciplinary context in which olfaction is investigated in contemporary research. From aesthetics to sociology, from bioengineering to anthropology, the different chapters discuss a wide variety of issues arising from olfaction research and its application in different contexts. By highlighting the overlaps between different areas of research, the book fosters a better communication between disciplines and leads towards a better understanding of the role of olfaction in human perception and cognition. This inspiring read is of interest to students, researchers and practitioners in psychology, philosophy, bioengineering, and cultural studies.

Download or read book Eisenstein Rediscovered written by Ian Christie and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2005-06-28 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Eisenstein Rediscovered Ian Christie and Richard Taylor present the first true East-West symposium on Eisenstein with an unparalleled diversity of views and methodologies. Two newly discovered texts by Eisenstein are here translated fro the first time, and all the contributors make extensive use of material only recently available - variant scripts, drawings, diaries and other writings - to probe behind the familiar facade. The `new' Eisenstein that emerges is in all respects a more engaging and contemporary figure than is traditionally perceived, his wit, eroticism and exlectic passions defining a distinctively modern sensibility whose rediscovey is long overdue.
Download or read book Direct Interface and One Channel Translation written by Tobias Scheer and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-03-30 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following up on the Guide to Morphosyntax-Phonology Interface Theories (2011), written from a theory-neutral point of view, this book lays out the author’s approach to the representational side of the interface. The book is thus about how information is transmitted to phonology when an object is inserted into phonological representations (as opposed to the derivational means, i.e. phase theory today). The idea of Direct Interface is that diacritics such as hash-marks in SPE or prosodic constituency since the early 80s, which mediate between morpho-syntax and phonology, are illegal in a modular environment where computational systems can only process domain-specific vocabulary. Direct Interface instead holds that only truly phonological vocabulary can carry morpho-syntactic information. It is shown that of all representational objects only syllabic space qualifies. Couched in CVCV (or strict CV), i.e. Government Phonology, this insight is then applied in detailed case studies of Belarusian, Corsican, Greek and the exhaustive lexical inventory of sonorant-obstruent-initial words in 13 Slavic languages,. In this sense, the book is the 2nd volume of A Lateral Theory of Phonology (2004).
