Download or read book The Purpose Handbook written by Eloise Skinner and published by Practical Inspiration Publishing. This book was released on 2021-10-04 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s Monday morning, 9am. How do you feel? Imagine waking up to start another week. In a perfect world, how would you like to feel? Maybe you imagine feeling motivated and energized. Maybe you imagine starting your week with a sense of purpose, peace and intention. The goal of this book is simple: to help you live with a sense of purpose. Part-manual, part-manifesto, this book is not a quick fix for happiness; it’s not a five-day plan promising a fast result. Instead, it’s a companion, your personal guide to navigating your own sense of purpose as it evolves throughout your life. Eloise Skinner is an author, therapist and teacher. She’s also the founder of The Purpose Workshop, an agency helping clients to navigate their purpose and redesign their lives. Eloise studied at Cambridge, trained at Oxford and practised as a corporate lawyer, but after some soul-searching (including a year training to be a monk!) she followed her passion into psychotherapy. Above all, Eloise is driven by the idea of integration - the power of bringing together all aspects of work and life; to live fully, with intention, integrity and purpose.

Download or read book Swart Haxa written by John McSherry and published by Gatekeeper Press. This book was released on 2022-09-22 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The year is 800 ad, set deep in the Serbian landscape along the Danube River near the city of Singidunum (Belgrade). The Vetus Castrum Abby had taken custody of an orphanage for wayward girls under the guidance of Father Tiberius and Father Ezra. Deborah was the oldest of some 280 orphans, conscripted out to various farms, markets and limestone quarries in the area. Hard work represented Catholic penance for getting into heaven, where punishment cleansed the soul of evil. What we know of Europe 400 years after the fall of the Roman Empire, Charlemagne was fighting an uphill battle in putting Francia, Germania, Gaul and Mesopotamia back together again. Deborah and the other orphans had to endure agonizing feudalism, tyrannical aristocracy, foreign soldiers and unwanted pregnancies. In our time in school, we were taught that the era after Rome's demise represented the Dark Ages, where superstition, witches and carnivorous ogres ruled everyday Europe. Yet Deborah's tenacity taught her to overcome all adversity, because there is power in the spirit. Then Deborah found something that would change her life forever. I tried to make this as historically accurate as possible, with superstitious anxiety confronting everyday peasants. I found it disturbing that what Deborah had to contend with, we still have to content with in 2022.

Book excerpt: This enchanting Newbery Honor Book is a “magical find” (School Library Journal). Half moorfolk and half human, and unable to shape-shift or disappear at will, Moql threatens the safety of the Band. So the Folk banish her and send her to live among humans as a changeling. Named Saaski by the couple for whose real baby she was swapped, she grows up taunted and feared by the villagers for being different, and is comfortable only on the moor, playing strange music on her bagpipes. As Saaski grows up, memories from her forgotten past with the Folks slowly emerge. But so do emotions from her human side, and she begins to realize the terrible wrong the Folk have done to the humans she calls Da and Mumma. She is determined to restore their child to them, even if it means a dangerous return to the world that has already rejected her once.
