No provision has been made by the State (or col leeting the statistic ofincoming population from yar to var, and the only means by which the Bureau could ascertain which of the many hundreds of its correspondents who have declared their intention of coming to Florida have actually'settled in the State. Is by their having communicated with the Bureau since their arrival. As very few even of these who are known to have probably removed to Florida have done this, the number 0! Those who are now in the State asthe result of the operations ofthe Bureau, but who have not reptxted theirarrwal, moot possibly be specified. Excerpt: ... as patients in the Central Hospital on January 1, 1907, undergoing treatment and confined th'ere for various reasons. At the beginning of the present lease, or January 1. 1906, headquarters camps was removed to Marion Farms, near Ocala, Florida, on which is located the Central Hos pital, and there during the year just ended I have inspected 302 recruits arriving direct from the county jails, the remaining recruits during the year having gone direct to the various camps from the jails. I found that the men from a physical standpoint averaged about the same as the 1905 recruits, as given above. I desire to state that the Central Hospital has been considerably enlarged, two new wards having been added, and an additional tuberculosis ward and a convalescent ward having been built since my last report. Furnishings have been entirely replaced, and, in fact, the Hospital has been improved in all departments, from new cooking implements, new range, new dining room fixtures, new single iron bedsteads with new bedding of every description to the operating department and dispensing room. The Hospital at present is properly equipped and ready for any demands that may be made upon it within reason. Respectfully submitted, S. H. BLITCH, Hospital Surgeon, Florida State Prison.
