Book Elements of Thermography for Nondestructive Testing Classic Reprint

Download or read book Elements of Thermography for Nondestructive Testing Classic Reprint written by Julius Cohen and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-01-08 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Elements of Thermography for Nondestructive Testing Thermography, the process whereby the invisible infrared thermal radiation from an object or a scene is rendered into a visible image, is known mainly for its military surveillance and remote-sensing applications. Nevertheless, thermography has great value also in a variety of non-military applications, and is being exploited in agriculture, geology, environmental control, meteorology, medicine, energy conservation, building, and manufacturing industry. In par ticular, its importance in industry for plant preventive maintenance, process control, quality control, and nondestructive testing has been recognized with the recent establishment of several independent working groups in thermography by different professional societies such as astm, asnt, and spie. This is intended to be a tutorial paper in thermography, espe cially as it relates to nondestructive testing, for program managers and scientists who are unfamiliar with thermal imaging systems and techniques, and who also may not have a background in infrared physics and technology. The material offered herein gives a simple, broad, and mainly qualitative overview which should help the reader to adjudicate the feasibility of applying thermography for his specific purpose. Notwithstanding, thermography is a highly sophis ticated and complex subject, and readers who wish to delve into the theory and the design of thermal imaging systems are referred to the books listed in the bibliography section. The bibliography includes also a listing of periodicals and reports dealing with applications of thermography to nondestructive testing. Book Infrared Thermography and Thermal Nondestructive Testing

Download or read book Infrared Thermography and Thermal Nondestructive Testing written by Vladimir Vavilov and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-07-10 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first book summarizing the theoretical basics of thermal nondestructive testing (TNDT) by combining elements of heat conduction, infrared thermography, and industrial nondestructive testing. The text contains the physical models of TNDT, heat transfer in defective and sound structures, and thermal properties of materials. Also included are the optimization of TNDT procedures, defect characterization, data processing in TNDT, active and passive TNDT systems, as well as elements of statistical data treatment and decision making. This text contains in-depth descriptions of applications in infrared/thermal testing within aerospace, power production, building, as well as the conservation of artistic monuments The book is intended for the industrial specialists who are involved in technical diagnostics and nondestructive testing. It may also be useful for academic researchers, undergraduate, graduate and PhD university students.

Book Nondestructive Evaluation of Materials by Infrared Thermography

This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With national trade barriers falling, causing the expansion of the com petitive global market, the question of quality control has become an essential issue for the 1990s. The time where the promise was to replace a product if it does not work seems to have passed; what is more impor tant now is not so much a reduction in what is going wrong but an increase of what is going right the first time (Feigenbaum 1990). This new trend is sometimes referred to as total quality. Among the many advantages ofthis zero-defect manufacturing policy, we can enumerate (Laurin 1990): superior marketability of wholly de pendable products, enormous gain in productivity, elimination of waste ful cost in replacing poor quality work and retrofitting rejected products from the field. Although total quality is a relatively new and attractive concept for mass products such as cars, consumer electronics and per sonal computers, in many fields, mainly aerospace and military, it has been the rule for years because of security reasons.
