Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the 18th to the 22nd of March in Moscow in the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR there was held a symposium on the elementary processes of high-energy chemistry. During the sessions there were discussed the following general problems: elementary processes in gases, elementary processes in liquids and solids (with the participation of excitations states of free radicals and ions), and elementary processes in quantum generators.

Book High Energy Chemistry and Processing in Liquids

Download or read book High Energy Chemistry and Processing in Liquids written by Yoshie Ishikawa and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-05 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on chemical reactions and processing under extreme conditions—how materials react with highly concentrated active species and/or in a very confined high-temperature and high-pressure volume. Those ultimate reaction environments created by a focused laser beam, discharges, ion bombardments, or microwaves provide characteristic nano- and submicron-sized products and functional nanostructures. The book explores the chemistry and processing of metals and non-metals as well as molecules that are strongly dependent on the energy deposition processes and character of the materials. Descriptions of a wide range of topics are given from the perspective of a variety of research methodologies, material preparations, and applications. The reader is led to consider and review how a high-energy source interacts with materials, and what the key factors are that determine the quality and quantity of nanoproducts and nano-processing.

Book Plasma Chemistry

Download or read book Plasma Chemistry written by Alexander Fridman and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2008-05-05 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Providing a fundamental introduction to all aspects of modern plasma chemistry, this book describes mechanisms and kinetics of chemical processes in plasma, plasma statistics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and electrodynamics, as well as all major electric discharges applied in plasma chemistry. Fridman considers most of the major applications of plasma chemistry, from electronics to thermal coatings, from treatment of polymers to fuel conversion and hydrogen production and from plasma metallurgy to plasma medicine. It is helpful to engineers, scientists and students interested in plasma physics, plasma chemistry, plasma engineering and combustion, as well as chemical physics, lasers, energy systems and environmental control. The book contains an extensive database on plasma kinetics and thermodynamics and numerical formulas for practical calculations related to specific plasma-chemical processes and applications. Problems and concept questions are provided, helpful in courses related to plasma, lasers, combustion, chemical kinetics, statistics and thermodynamics, and high-temperature and high-energy fluid mechanics.

Book The Plasma Chemistry of Polymer Surfaces

Download or read book The Plasma Chemistry of Polymer Surfaces written by Jörg Friedrich and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-05-29 with total page 479 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than 99% of all visible matter in the universe occurs as highly ionized gas plasma with high energy content. Electrical low- and atmospheric-pressure plasmas are characterized by continuous source of moderate quantities of energy or enthalpy transferred predominantly as kinetic energy of electrons. Therefore, such energetically unbalanced plasmas have low gas temperature but produce sufficient energy for inelastic collisions with atoms and molecules in the gas phase, thus producing reactive species and photons, which are able to initiate all types of polymerizations or activate any surface of low reactive polymers. However, the broadly distributed energies in the plasma exceed partially the binding energies in polymers, thus initiating very often unselective reactions and polymer degradation. The intention of this book is to present new plasma processes and new plasma reactions of high selectivity and high yield. This book aims to bridge classical and plasma chemistry, particularly focusing on polymer chemistry in the bulk and on the surface under plasma exposure. The stability of surface functionalization and the qualitative and quantitative measurement of functional groups at polymer surface are featured prominently, and chemical pathways for suppressing the undesirable side effects of plasma exposure are proposed and illustrated with numerous examples. Special attention is paid to the smooth transition from inanimate polymer surfaces to modified bioactive polymer surfaces. A wide range of techniques, plasma types and applications are demonstrated.

Book Radiation Chemical Processes in Solid Phase

Download or read book Radiation Chemical Processes in Solid Phase written by Evginiy I. Grigoriev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1996-11-14 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike many other references, Radiation-Chemical Processes in Solid Phase analyzes experimental data on radiolysis in terms of solid-state physics. It traces the effect exerted by media from primary processes of radiation-substance interaction to final products. The authors consider the main chemically active elementary excitations arising under irradiation of solids and discuss the mechanisms of chemical reactions induced by them. They present the general principles of solid-state and molecular physics, and cover numerous radiation-chemical processes.
