Book Learning the Art of Electronics

Download or read book Learning the Art of Electronics written by Thomas C. Hayes and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 1150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This introduction to circuit design is unusual in several respects. First, it offers not just explanations, but a full course. Each of the twenty-five sessions begins with a discussion of a particular sort of circuit followed by the chance to try it out and see how it actually behaves. Accordingly, students understand the circuit's operation in a way that is deeper and much more satisfying than the manipulation of formulas. Second, it describes circuits that more traditional engineering introductions would postpone: on the third day, we build a radio receiver; on the fifth day, we build an operational amplifier from an array of transistors. The digital half of the course centers on applying microcontrollers, but gives exposure to Verilog, a powerful Hardware Description Language. Third, it proceeds at a rapid pace but requires no prior knowledge of electronics. Students gain intuitive understanding through immersion in good circuit design.

The relevant basics of beam propagation and computer-based raytracing routines are also explained, and sample codes are listed. the book teaches important know-how and practical tricks that are never disclosed in scientific publications. The book can become the reader's personal adviser in the world of opto-electronics and navigator in the ocean of the market of optical components and systems. Succinct, well-illustrated and clearly written, this book is helpful for students, postgraduates, engineers and researches working not only in the field of applied optics but also in high-tech industry, information technology, medicine, biology and other domains.

Book Electronics Concepts Labs and Projects

Download or read book Electronics Concepts Labs and Projects written by Alden Hackmann and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2014-10-01 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electronics Concepts, Labs, and Projects introduces concepts, techniques, and tools needed for productive growth in the fields of audio, video, and multimedia recording. It includes essential theory relating to electronics principles specific to the audio world, as well as practical lessons on soldering, how to use a digital multimeter for testing audio gear and cables, and how to use an oscilloscope and function generator to diagnose circuits. Also included are descriptions of the components found in electronic circuits and how they work. Seasoned instructor Alden Hackmann uses a bare minimum of math to demonstrate practical concepts, plus every chapter includes a hands-on lab to reinforce that chapter's concepts. There are also seven projects to help the reader develop fundamental soldering skills, including the introduction of techniques for use with a broad variety of cables. The electronics topics includes voltage, current, resistance, and power, and how they are related to one another. Resistors, capacitors, diodes, batteries, switches, LEDs, transformers, diodes, transistors, inductors, and tubes are all explained in a clear and concise manner. With 12 distinct sections, this book can be used in both the class environment and for self-study. The accompanying online media contains lecturers and illustrations that support and reinforce the concepts presented in the text.

Book Digital Electronics and Laboratory Computer Experiments

Download or read book Digital Electronics and Laboratory Computer Experiments written by Charles Wilkins and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Science undergraduates have come to accept the use of computers as commonplace. The daily use of portable sophisticated electronic calculators (some of them rivaling general-purpose minicomputers in their capa bi li ti es) has hastened this development. Over the past several years, computer assisted experimentation has assumed an important role in the experimental laboratory. Mini- and microcomputer systems have become an important part of the physical scientist's array of analytical instruments. Prompted by our beliefthat this was an inevitable development, we began several years aga to develop the curricular materials presented in this manual. At the outset, several objectives seemed important to uso First, insofar as possible, the experiments included should be thoroughly tested and error free. Second, they should be compatible with a variety of laboratory computer, data-acquisition, and control systems. Third, little or no previous background in either electronics or programming should be necessary. (Of course, such background would be advantageous. ) To satisfy these objectives, we decided to adopt a widespread high-level computer language, BASIC, suitably modified for the purpose. Furthermore, we have purposely avoided specifying any particular system or equipment. Rather, the functional characteristics of both hardware and software required are stipulated. The experiments have been developed using Varian 620 and Hewlett-Packard 2100 series computers, but we believe they are readily transferable to other commonly available computer systems with a minimum of difficulty.
