Book Study of Bombardment induced Conductivity Materials

Download or read book Study of Bombardment induced Conductivity Materials written by Norman H. Lehrer and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this work was a phenomenological study of materials which exhibit electron bombardment-induced conductivity (BIC) as well as sustained electron bombardment-induced conductivity (SEBIC) for application to novel display devices. These devices are (1) a direct-view storage tube with high resolution, selective erasure, and the ability to display stored and nonstored information simultaneously, and (2) a high resolution storage tube containing no meshes. The operation of the direct-view storage tube is reviewed and criteria are established for advantageous use of a BIC dielectric in direct-view storage tubes. The meshless storage tube operation is analyzed, and the required SEBIC material characteristics are established. The theory of bombardment-induced conductivity is defined and related to the materials requirements. Data are presented on the BIC and SEBIC effects in thin films (1/2 micron) of zinc sulfide and cadmium sulfide. (Author).

Book Physics and Applications of Secondary Electron Emission

Download or read book Physics and Applications of Secondary Electron Emission written by H. Bruining and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-01-11 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics and Applications of Secondary Electron Emission provides a survey of the physics and applications of secondary electron emission. It is part of a series of monographs that aim to report on research carried out in electronics and applied physics. The monographs are written by specialists in their own subjects. Wherever it is practical the monographs will be kept short in length to enable all those interested in electronics to find the essentials necessary for their work in a condensed and concentrated form. The book begins with a discussion of secondary electrons. Separate chapters cover methods for measuring secondary electron emission; numerical results on the secondary electron emission yield of both metals and metal compounds; the influence of externally adsorbed foreign atoms and ions on secondary electron emission; and the mechanism of secondary electron emission. The final three chapters deal with the application side. These include the applications of electron multiplication; the elimination of disturbing effects due to secondary electrons; and ""storage"" devices in which information on electrical charges is written on an insulating surface, often by making use of secondary electron emission.

Book Electronics Engineer s Reference Book

Download or read book Electronics Engineer s Reference Book written by L. W. Turner and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 1492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electronics Engineer’s Reference Book, 4th Edition is a reference book for electronic engineers that reviews the knowledge and techniques in electronics engineering and covers topics ranging from basics to materials and components, devices, circuits, measurements, and applications. This edition is comprised of 27 chapters; the first of which presents general information on electronics engineering, including terminology, mathematical equations, mathematical signs and symbols, and Greek alphabet and symbols. Attention then turns to the history of electronics; electromagnetic and nuclear radiation; the influence of the ionosphere and the troposphere on the propagation of radio waves; and basic electronic circuits. The reader is also introduced to devices such as electron valves and tubes, integrated circuits, and solid-state devices. The remaining chapters focus on other areas of electronics engineering, including sound and video recording; electronic music and radio astronomy; and applications of electronics in weather forecasting, space exploration, and education. This book will be of value to electronics engineers and professionals in other engineering disciplines, as well as to scientists, students, management personnel, educators, and readers with a general interest in electronics and their applications.

Book Research on Electron Bombardment Induced Conductivity Targets in Camera Tubes

Download or read book Research on Electron Bombardment Induced Conductivity Targets in Camera Tubes written by J. Lempert and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analysis of scan parameters as they affect the performance of electron bombardment induced conductivity (EBIC) targets is presented. The conclusion is reached that the secondary emission characteristic of the target surface is an extremely important parameter in camera tubes of the photoconductivity and EBIC types. Evidence that the electron absorptivity of the target for low voltage electrons is affected by the degree of induced excitation is presented. Results of an investigation of different EBIC target materials are reviewed. The fabrication of experimental EBIC tubes having electrostatic and magnetic focused image sections is described. Test results are discussed. (Author).
