No attempt will be made to discuss the numerous patents on chromium plating, and only such incidental references will be made to them as are essential to a general consideration of the subject. This publication may be considered as a sequel to a previous one1 by the Bureau of Standards which described in detail the process used for the chromium plating of printing plates at the United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing. It will be noted that the more comprehensive study of the subject has exposed certain errors in the first publication - errors of theory, however.
