Book Electro catalytic Reduction of NO Sub X

Download or read book Electro catalytic Reduction of NO Sub X written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this investigation, a stream containing nitric oxide has been subjected to intense electric fields in the presence of catalysts. The work has been conducted in two phases. In the first phase catalysts tested included steel, stainless steel, and gold plated stainless steel wools. The effect of parameters such as inlet nitric oxide concentration, oxygen and water vapor content, gas residence time and temperature on NO reduction have been studied. In the second phase, the effect of non-conducting materials such as glass wool as a catalyst on NO reduction has been investigated. Experiments were also conducted with no catalyst to study the advantage of catalyst use.

Book Techniques and Mechanisms in Electrochemistry

Download or read book Techniques and Mechanisms in Electrochemistry written by P.A. Christensen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2007-07-11 with total page 383 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is hard to overstate the importance of electrochemistry in the modern world: the ramifications of the subject extend into areas as diverse as batteries, fuel cells, effluent remediation and re-cycling, clean technology, elect- synthesis of organic and inorganic compounds, conversion and storage of solar energy, semiconductor processing, material corrosion, biological electron transfer processes and a wide range of highly specific analytical techniques. The impact of electrochemistry on the lives of all of us has increased immeas- ably, even in recent years, but this increase has not been reflected in the level or content of courses taught at universities, many of which portray the subject as a collection of arcane recipes and poorly understood formulae of marginal importance to the mainstream of chemistry. This approach reached its nadir with the recent extraordinary furore surrounding the purported discovery of cold fusion, where two electrochemists claimed to have shown that the fusion of deuterium nuclei could be effected under ambient conditions by the electrochemically induced intercalation of deuterium atoms into palladium. Whatever the truth behind such claims, their discussion revealed a lamentable lack of knowledge of modern elect- chemistry, not only among science writers for the popular press, but among many professional chemists and physicists whose acquaintance with the subject seems, for the most part, to have stopped somewhere about the time of Nernst. In a year in which Professor R.

Book Plasma assisted Catalytic Reduction of NO sub x sub

Download or read book Plasma assisted Catalytic Reduction of NO sub x sub written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many studies suggest that lean-NOx SCR proceeds via oxidation of NO to NO[not] by oxygen, followed by the reaction of the NO[not]with hydrocarbons. On catalysts that are not very effective in catalyzing the equilibration of NO+O[not] and NO[not], the rate of N[not] formation issubstantially higher when the input NOx is NO[not] instead of NO. The apparent bifunctional mechanism in the SCR ofNOx has prompted the use of mechanically mixed catalyst components, in which one component is used to accelerate theoxidation of NO to NO[not], and another component catalyzes the reaction between NO[not] and the hydrocarbon. Catalysts that previously wereregarded as inactive for NOx reduction could therefore become efficient when mixed with an oxidation catalyst. PreconvertingNO to NO[not] opens the opportunity for a wider range of SCR catalysts and perhaps improves the durability of these catalysts. This paperdescribes the use of a non-thermal plasma as an efficient means for selective partial oxidation of NO to NO[not]. When combined with sometypes of SCR catalyst, the plasma can greatly enhance the NOx reduction and eliminate some of the deficiencies encountered inan entirely catalyst-based approach. efficiency for reduction of NOsubx

Book Electrochemical Abatement of Pollutants NO sub X and SO sub X in Combustion Exhaust Gases Employing a Solid oxide Electrolyte

Download or read book Electrochemical Abatement of Pollutants NO sub X and SO sub X in Combustion Exhaust Gases Employing a Solid oxide Electrolyte written by and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 3 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the fourth quarter of this grant, the major accomplishment concerns the spectroscopic investigation of oxygen vacancies in YSZ and ESB. The nature of electrolytic blackening'' was studied. It was found that the same reduction processes that turn polycrystalline YSZ black turn single crystals orange. Two absorption bands attributable to this orange coloration, 328 and 470 nm, were observed. The 328 nm absorption band agrees with theoretical calculations for an F-center YSZ. Several fluorescence bands were also observed. An excitation band at 302 nm was found to increase in intensity upon reduction of YSZ and the resulting emission at 580 nm was found to have a temperature dependence typical of F-centers. These results are in agreement with the hypothesis of the formation of color-centers upon reduction of YSZ as being responsible for blackening'' and the resulting enhancement of electrocatalytic reactivity.

Book Catalytic Aerobic Oxidations

Download or read book Catalytic Aerobic Oxidations written by Esteban Mejía and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oxidation reactions are an important chemical transformation in both academia and industry. Among the major advances in the field has been the development of catalytic processes, which are not only selective and efficient, but also allow the replacement of common stoichiometric oxidants with molecular oxygen, ideally from air at atmospheric pressure. This results in processes with higher atom efficiency, where water is the only side product in line with the principles of green chemistry. Focusing on the use of molecular oxygen as the terminal oxidant, this book covers recent advances in both heterogeneous and homogeneous systems, with and without metals and on the “taming” of the highly reactive oxygen gas by use of micro-flow reactors and membranes. A useful reference for industrial and academic chemists working on oxidation processes, as well as green chemists.

Book Selective Catalytic Reduction System and Process for Treating NOx Emissions Using a Zinc Or Titanium Promoted Palladium zirconium Catalyst

Download or read book Selective Catalytic Reduction System and Process for Treating NOx Emissions Using a Zinc Or Titanium Promoted Palladium zirconium Catalyst written by and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A process and system (18) for reducing NO.sub.x in a gas using hydrogen as a reducing agent is provided. The process comprises contacting the gas stream (29) with a catalyst system (38) comprising sulfated zirconia washcoat particles (41), palladium, a pre-sulfated zirconia binder (44), and a promoter (45) comprising at least one of titanium, zinc, or a mixture thereof. The presence of zinc or titanium increases the resistance of the catalyst system to a sulfur and water-containing gas stream.

Book Catalytic Photocatalytic and Electrocatalytic Processes for the Valorisation of CO

Download or read book Catalytic Photocatalytic and Electrocatalytic Processes for the Valorisation of CO written by Ilenia Rossetti and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-11-19 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasing attention is being paid to the development of effective technologies for the sequestration of CO2 and its storage. Hopefully, this will result in processes that can lead to its valorisation as a chemical, e.g., for the regeneration of fuels, but also for the production of intermediates. These are usually energy demands and rather slow processes, requiring energy input and catalysts. Some examples are the innovative strategies for the hydrogenation, photoconversion, or electroreduction of carbon dioxide. This book collects original research papers, reviews, and commentaries focused on the challenges related to the valorisation and conversion of CO2.
