  • Author : Teruo Matsushita
  • Publisher : Springer Nature
  • Release : 2021-09-21
  • ISBN : 3030821501
  • Pages : 446 pages

Download or read book Electricity and Magnetism written by Teruo Matsushita and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-09-21 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a very comprehensive textbook covering in great depth all the electricity and magnetism. The 2nd edition includes new and revised figures and exercises in many of the chapters, and the number of problems and exercises for the student is increased. In the 1st edition, emphasis much was made of superconductivity, and this methodology will be continued in the new edition by strengthening of the E-B analogy. Many of the new exercises and problems are associated with the E-B analogy, which enables those teaching from the book to select suitable teaching methods depending on the student’s ability and courses taken, whether physics, astrophysics, or engineering. Changes in the chapters include a detailed discussion of the equivector-potential surface and its correspondence between electricity and magnetism. The shortcomings of using the magnetic scalar potential are also explained. The zero resistivity in a magnetic material showing perfect diamagnetism can be easily proved. This textbook is an ideal text for students, who are competent in calculus and are taking physics, astrophysics, or engineering at degree level. It is also useful as a reference book for the professional scientist.

Book Electricity Magnetism and Light

Download or read book Electricity Magnetism and Light written by Wayne M. Saslow and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2002-07-19 with total page 809 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A very comprehensive introduction to electricity, magnetism and optics ranging from the interesting and useful history of the science, to connections with current real-world phenomena in science, engineering and biology, to common sense advice and insight on the intuitive understanding of electrical and magnetic phenomena. This is a fun book to read, heavy on relevance, with practical examples, such as sections on motors and generators, as well as `take-home experiments' to bring home the key concepts. Slightly more advanced than standard freshman texts for calculus-based engineering physics courses with the mathematics worked out clearly and concisely. Helpful diagrams accompany the discussion. The emphasis is on intuitive physics, graphical visualization, and mathematical implementation. - Electricity, Magnetism, and Light is an engaging introductory treatment of electromagnetism and optics for second semester physics and engineering majors. - Focuses on conceptual understanding, with an emphasis on relevance and historical development. - Mathematics is specific and avoids unnecessary technical development. - Emphasis on physical concepts, analyzing the electromagnetic aspects of many everyday phenomena, and guiding readers carefully through mathematical derivations. - Provides a wealth of interesting information, from the history of the science of electricity and magnetism, to connections with real world phenomena in science, engineering, and biology, to common sense advice and insight on the intuitive understanding of electrical and magnetic phenomena

Download or read book Electromagnetism written by I. S. Grant and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2013-06-05 with total page 555 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electromagnetism Electromagnetism, Second Edition is suitable for a first course in electromagnetism, whilst also covering many topics frequently encountered in later courses. The material has been carefully arranged and allows for flexibility in its use for courses of different length and structure. A knowledge of calculus and an elementary knowledge of vectors is assumed, but the mathematical properties of the differential vector operators are described in sufficient detail for an introductory course, and their physical significance in the context of electromagnetism is emphasised. In this Second Edition the authors give a fuller treatment of circuit analysis and include a discussion of the dispersion of electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetism, Second Edition features: The application of the laws of electromagnetism to practical problems such as the behaviour of antennas, transmission lines and transformers. Sets of problems at the end of each chapter to help student understanding, with hints and solutions to the problems given at the end of the book. Optional “starred” sections containing more specialised and advanced material for the more ambitious reader. An Appendix with a thorough discussion of electromagnetic standards and units. Recommended by many institutions. Electromagnetism. Second Edition has also been adopted by the Open University as the course book for its third level course on electromagnetism. Book Electricity and Magnetism 2nd Edition

Download or read book Electricity and Magnetism 2nd Edition written by Peter Fairley and published by Twenty-First Century Books. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since prehistoric times, people have been fascinated by electricity and magnetism. Ancient people marveled at the auroras—streaks of colored light that appear in the night sky near the poles. They wondered about the ability of materials such as amber and magnetite rock to attract or repel other objects. Many people believed magic was behind these phenomena. Then, in the 1600s, scientists began to lift the fog of superstition. Electricity and magnetism are behind some of life’s greatest mysteries—the auroras, the beating of the human heart, and even the twisting of time and space known as relativity. This book tells the story of scientists and their discoveries to explain how the theory of electromagnetism came to be.
