Book Electrotechnology in Mining

Download or read book Electrotechnology in Mining written by N. Marinovic and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 638 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Both mining and electrical engineers need to bear in mind the following specific requirements of electrical applications in mining. 1) Economy of electrical plant and equipment in relation to the cost price of the extracted mineral ores, governed by the specific exploitation conditions, 2) Reliability of electrical plant and equipment for extractive operations, operational efficiency, and plant and personnel safety. 3) Special safeguards to counteract the additional hazards posed by the use of electric power, and by electrical phenomena in general. The book has been written along these lines, dealing with those topics which highlight the aspects of electrical engineering of relevance for mining engineers and aspects of mining operations that electrical engineers need, to meet the above-mentioned basic requirements governing the introduction and use of electrical plants and systems in mines. This book is intended as a text book and will be of use to students, and colleges as well as to mining and electrical engineers.

Book Electricity in Coal Mining

Download or read book Electricity in Coal Mining written by David Robert Shearer and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-14 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electricity in Coal Mining Many good engineering handbooks are to be found dealing with the details of electrical construction and the installation of mining machinery but the writer feels that there maybe a demand for a small treatise covering, in a general way, the many phases of electrical engineering as applied to coal mining. Such a book would probably be of use to the investor or the operator in outlining methods of procedure and to the operating engineer in tracing the foundations upon which an electrical power plant may be established and operated in the most efficient manner. In securing data upon which some of the machinery is described and for many of the photographs from which cuts have been made the writer wishes to acknowledge the help of the General Electric Co., Westinghouse Electric and Manufacturing Co., Goodman Manufacturing Co., Jeffrey Machine Co., and other manufacturers who have assisted in the work. The writer also wishes to acknowledge his indebtedness to the Editors of Coal Age for manuscript corrections and to the McGraw-Hill Book Co. Inc., for the able manner in which the work of publishing has been carried out. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Electrical Mining Installations Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electrical Mining Installations Classic Reprint written by P. W. Freudemacher and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Mining Installations This volume has been written especially for colliery engineers and contractors engaged in the installation of electrical plant for mining purposes. The first chapter deals briefly with the elementary principles Of electrical engineering, special reference being made to alternate current working. Many readers will already have a sufficient knowledge of these principles and for them the volume will be a guide to the application Of electric power for mining work. Readers who are engineers but not essentially electrical engineers will find this opening chapter Of service, and it is hoped that the notes on alternate current working will clear up the many abstruse points on this subject and give a working knowledge Of the terms and quantities involved. Book Electromagnetic Compatibility in Underground Mining

Download or read book Electromagnetic Compatibility in Underground Mining written by K. Miskiewicz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theoretical and technical problems of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in mining are covered in this volume. EMC is discussed in three main groups of problems: sources (generation) of interference, propagation of interference in mining conditions, the influence of interferences on mining devices, particularly electronic devices used in deep coal mines. Propagation of interference and its influence on mining communication and signalling systems as well as on control systems of mining machines are discussed. Attention is paid to the influences of interference on dispatching sytems which give to the dispatcher some information about mining hazards. The book will be of interest to mining and electrical engineers.

Book Sensing and Monitoring Technologies for Mines and Hazardous Areas

Download or read book Sensing and Monitoring Technologies for Mines and Hazardous Areas written by Swadesh Chaulya and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-10 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sensing and Monitoring Technologies for Mines and Hazardous Areas: Monitoring and Prediction Technologies presents the fundamentals of mining related geotechnical risk and how the latest advances in sensing and data communication can be used both to prevent accidents and provide early warnings. Opencast mining operations involve huge quantities of overburden removal, dumping, and backfilling in excavated areas. Substantial increases in the rate of accumulation of waste dumps in recent years has resulted in greater height of dumps and also has given rise to the danger of dump failures as steeper open pit slopes are prone to failure. These failures lead to loss of valuable human lives and damage to mining machinery. This book presents the most recent advances in gas sensors, methane detectors, and power cut-off systems. It also introduces monitoring of the gas strata and environment, and an overview of the use of Internet of Things and cloud computing for mining sensing and surveillance purposes. Targeted at geotechnical and mining engineers, this volume covers the latest findings and technology to prevent mining accidents and mitigate the inherent risk of the activity. Presents complete details of a real-time slope stability monitoring system using wireless sensor networking and prediction technique based on multivariate statistical analysis of various parameters and analytical hierarchy process methods Discusses innovative ideas and new concepts of sensing technologies, mine transport surveillance, digital mining, and cloud computing to improve safety and productivity in mining industry Includes slope stability prediction software, downloadable through a companion website, which can be used for monitoring, analyzing, and storing different sensors and providing audio-visual, SMS, and email alerts Covers the latest findings and technology to prevent mining accidents and mitigate the inherent risk

Book Electricity in Mining Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electricity in Mining Classic Reprint written by Sydney Ferris Walker and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-24 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electricity in Mining In Chapter V. He has discussed the principles and practice of the distribution of electricity, as it is applicable to mining work, giving descriptions of every method of distribution, even some of those that in his Opinion will not often be applied, because it has come to his knowledge that they have been applied in a few cases. In Chapter VI. He has dealt very fully with the application of electricity to the different machinery about a mine. In writing this chapter, the Author has had before his mind the fact that there are a large and increasing number of engineers who are engaged in the application of electricity to mining work, and who necessarily are not familiar with the working of mines, when they first come to them. In the past there have been a very large number of failures, and a very large amount of money wasted, owing to the fact that those who have been engaged in applying electricity to some mining problem, have not been acquainted with mines, and have been far too sanguine as to the amount of power required for performing a given amount of work. Pathetic complaints have been made at the Mining Institute, by those who have been advising mining engineers in the application of electricity, that motors supposed to deliver a great many horse power would not perform the work, say in hauling trams, that was easily performed by one horse in the flesh. It has been the Author's endeavour, in writing Chapter VI., to provide information that will enable whoever may be engaged in mining work, to form a very safe idea of the power he must provide in each case, while on the other hand he has endeavoured to show mining engineers and mine managers how that power is to be delivered, and how they are to know when they have the proper amount.
