Book Electrical Engineering Problems Vol 1

Download or read book Electrical Engineering Problems Vol 1 written by F. C. Caldwell and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Engineering Problems, Vol. 1: Part I Direct Current Circuits and Apparatus, Part II Alternating Current Circuits and Apparatus This little book of problems is offered as a system of exercises, suitable for use with any of the available textbooks or with a lecture course. Most of the problems have been used in the classes of the author. A novel feature is the stating of the time needed to perform the actual solving of each problem. This should prove useful not only to the instructor in the assignment of problems, but also to the student as a measure of his own speed. In most of the problems the time given is that which was actually used by an undergraduate student. It will, however, probably be found necessary to allow more time to the average class than is here indicated. Sheets giving the answers to the problems will be provided in such quantities as may be needed, but only to instructors. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Circuit theory is a core course in every Electrical Engineering curriculum, with a wide range of applications to a variety of problems related to electrical systems and subsystems, such as power transmission systems, communication systems, control systems and electronics systems in general. This book includes a complete and self contained presentation of fundamental concepts, definitions, principles and techniques on Electric Circuits, and has been designed to be an excellent supplementary textbook and help all Electrical Engineering and Technology students to understand in depth, the essentials of the theory involved and develop the insight and the analytical skills needed, in order to pursue studies in more complicated topics in circuits and electrical systems in general.Topics covered include, Electric Power and Energy, The Basic Elements in Electric Circuits and their respective Ohm's Law, The Electric Energy Sources and their Mathematical Models, for both Independent and Controlled Sources, The Kirchhoff's Laws and applications, Equivalent Circuits, Capacitors and Inductors, Transients in simple R-L or R-C circuits. The content of this book is divided in 10 chapters. The content of each chapter is shown in the Table of Contents. At the end of the book, we include an Appendix, showing how to solve a first order Differential Equation, Linear with Constant Coefficients. This will help the students to understand the operation of circuits containing ohmic resistors and capacitors or ohmic resistors and inductors. The study of such circuits in general, is described by first order differential equations. The 65 illustrative solved Examples and the 155 characteristic Problems to be solved are design to help students develop a solid theoretical background, broaden their knowledge and sharpen their analytical skills on the subject. A brief Hint or detailed outline of the procedure to follow, in solving complicated problems is often given. Finally answers to odd numbered problems are also given, so that the students can verify the validity of their own solution.

Book Structural Engineering and Geomechanics Volume 1

Download or read book Structural Engineering and Geomechanics Volume 1 written by Sashi K. Kunnath and published by EOLSS Publications. This book was released on 2020-06-22 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An understanding of dynamic effects on structures is critical to minimize losses from earthquakes and other hazards. These three books provide an overview of essential topics in structural and geotechnical engineering with an additional focus on related topics in earthquake engineering to enable readers gain such an understanding. One of the ultimate objectives of these books is to provide readers with insights into seismic analysis and design. However, in order to accomplish that objective, background material on structural and geotechnical engineering is necessary. Hence the first two sections of the book provide this background material followed by selected topics in earthquake engineering. The material is organized into three major parts. The first section covers topics in structural engineering. Beginning with fundamental mechanics of materials, the book includes chapters on linear and nonlinear analysis as well as topics on modeling of structures from different perspectives. In addition to traditional design of structural systems, introductions to important concepts in structural reliability and structural stability are discussed. Also covered are subjects of recent interest, viz., blast and impact effects on structures as well as the use of fiber reinforced polymer composites in structural applications. Given the growing interest in urban renewal, an interesting chapter on restoration of historic cities is also included. The second part of the book covers topics in geotechnical engineering, covering both shallow and deep foundations and issues and procedures for geotechnical modeling. The final part of the book focuses on earthquake engineering with emphasis on both structures and foundations. Here again, the material covered includes both traditional seismic design and innovative seismic protection. And more importantly, concepts in modeling for seismic analysis are highlighted.

Book Electromagnetics Volume 1 BETA

Download or read book Electromagnetics Volume 1 BETA written by Steven W. Ellingson and published by VT Publishing. This book was released on 2018-01-03 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electromagnetics (CC BY-SA 4.0) is an open textbook intended to serve as a primary textbook for a one-semester first course in undergraduate engineering electromagnetics, and includes:electric and magnetic fields; electromagnetic properties of materials; electromagnetic waves; and devices that operate according to associated electromagnetic principles including resistors, capacitors, inductors, transformers, generators, and transmission lines. This book employs the "transmission lines first" approach, in which transmission lines are introduced using a lumped-element equivalent circuit model fora differential length of transmission line, leading to one-dimensional wave equations for voltage and current. This book is intended for electrical engineering students in the third year of a bachelor of science degree program. Book A Course in Electrical Engineering Direct Currents Vol 1 Classic Reprint

Download or read book A Course in Electrical Engineering Direct Currents Vol 1 Classic Reprint written by Chester L. Dawes and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Course in Electrical Engineering Direct Currents, Vol. 1 Throughout the text, especially in the treatment of the more abstract portions, attempt has been made to show the ultimate bearing upon general engineering practice. The student takes more interest in the theory when he sees that it can be applied to the solving of practical problems. Because this work is not intended for advanced students in Electrical Engineering, little or no calculus is used and the mathematics is limited to simple equations. Book Digital Protective Relays

Download or read book Digital Protective Relays written by Vladimir Gurevich and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Digital (microprocessor-based) protection relays (DPR) are dominating the global market today, essentially pushing all other types of relays out of the picture. These devices play a vital role in power operations for fields ranging from manufacturing, transportation, and communication to banking and healthcare. Digital Protective Relays: Problems and Solutions offers a unique focus on the problems and disadvantages associated with their use, a crucial aspect that goes largely unexamined. While there is already a massive amount of literature documenting the benefits of using digital relays, devices as sophisticated as DPR obviously have faults and drawbacks that need to be understood. This book covers these, delving into the less familiar inner workings of DPR to fill a critical literary void and help decision makers and specialists in the field of protection relays find their way out of the informational vacuum. The book provides vital information to assist them in evaluating relay producers' claims and then choose the right product. Tearing away the informational "curtain" that exists today, this book: Describes construction of functional modules of existing relays Analyzes drawbacks and problems of digital relays Details specific technical problems and their solutions Assesses dangers of intentional destructive electromagnetic intrusions Discusses alternative (non-microprocessor-based) protection relays, and problems related to international standards Focusing on practical solutions, this book explains how to correctly choose digital relays and ensure their proper use while avoiding the many problems they can present. The author avoids mathematics and theory in favor of more practical, tangible information not easily found elsewhere. Setting itself apart from other books on the subject, this volume shines a light into the long hidden "black box" of information
