Book Electrical Instruments in Theory and Practice Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electrical Instruments in Theory and Practice Classic Reprint written by William Henry Fullarton Murdoch and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-14 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Instruments in Theory and Practice During the course of many years lecturing and working With instruments we have found the necessity for some work dealing With the theory beyond merely the first terms. It is hoped this book will meet With the approval of students in the higher classes, and of engineers. In many cases, and especially in the section on electric supply meters, the results of numerous experiments are compared With theory. The theory of the induction meter is extremely complex, and the explanations given are sometimes quite erroneous. We hope the views we set forth Will prove useful. The instruments Which have been selected are merely typical of those in use, and we propose completing the work by dealing with oscillographs, ondographs, and many alternating current instruments both theoretically and experimentally in another volume. Download or read book Electrical Engineering in Theory and Practice written by G. D. Aspinall Parr and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-12 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Engineering in Theory and Practice The rapid progress made in the past decade, and still taking place, in the application of pure science to industrial purposes, particularly electrical engineering, may be some excuse for presenting the present work to the technical world. In it a considerable departure has been made from other works of similar nature published up to the present. This will be evident by the inclusion of fundamental matter which, although elementary in nature, is important, and should be known by an electrical engineer; also from the order in which the subjects have been dealt with, and in which they may most profitably be read. Further, every endeavour has been made to produce a work which, while being fully up to date, excludes all historical matter and obsolete appliances, except in a very few cases where they embody important principles. Numerous references to current periodical technical literature have been made throughout the work, and all questions set for the Technological Examinations of the City and Guilds of London Institute, in the Preliminary, Ordinary, and Honours Grades of Electro-Technology up to date, are given at the end of the various chapters to the subject-matter of which they particularly relate. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Heavy Electrical Engineering Electrical Engineering. An examination of these books reveals on the part of their authors a conception of the preferential scope of the subject which is at complete variance with my conception. Hence, beyond the similarity of title, there is nothing ln common between the present treatise and these others. I have omitted routine descriptive material as well as the elementary generalities regarding electricity and magnetism, and I have directed my efforts to an attempt to familiarize the reader with various considerations and calculations of which a sound knowledge should be acquired in order to enable him effectively to engage in practical electrical engineering work. Book Electric Railway Engineering Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electric Railway Engineering Classic Reprint written by Charles Francis Harding and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-03-09 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electric Railway Engineering To students in technical universities who wish to specialize in the subject of electrical railway engineering and to those who understand the fundamental principles of electrical engineering and are interested in their application to electric railway practice it is hoped that this book may be of value. While it is planned primarily for a senior elective course in a technical university, it does not involve higher mathematics and should therefore be easily understood by the undergraduate reader. The volume does not purport to present any great amount of new material nor principles, but it does gather in convenient form present day theory and practice in all important branches of electric railway engineering. N o apology is deemed necessary for the frequent quotations from technical papers and publications in engineering periodicals, for it is only from the authorities and specialists in particular phases of the profession that the most valuable information can be obtained, and it is believed that a thorough and unprejudiced summary of the best that has been written upon the various aspects of the subject will be most welcome when thus combined into a single volume. The author wishes to express his appreciation of the assistance of Mr. Emrick, instructor in electrical engineering at Purdue University, in preparing illustrations for the book and to those students who by thesis investigations have added to its value. Book Electric Power and Traction Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electric Power and Traction Classic Reprint written by F. H. Davies and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-02 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electric Power and Traction IN common with practically every industry Electrical Engineering has become the centre of a wide and increasing circle of allied trades, of which probably the majority are connected in some way or another with its Power and Traction branches. To the members of such trades and callings, to whom some knowledge of applied Electrical Engineering is desirable if not strictly essential, this book is particularly intended to appeal. It may also be useful to the student as it covers with but small exception purely practical ground, and enters to some extent into those commercial considerations which in the long run must overrule all others. For obvious reasons it is impossible to incorporate in one volume the whole theory and practice of a subject so far reaching as Electric Power and Traction; it therefore becomes necessary at the outset to credit the reader with a certain amount of scientific and technical knowledge: to fix the standard, let us say, such as should naturally have been acquired by observation in the practice of an allied trade and by general reading in an age that is essentially electric. Book excerpt: Theory of Oscillators presents the applications and exposition of the qualitative theory of differential equations. This book discusses the idea of a discontinuous transition in a dynamic process. Organized into 11 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the simplest type of oscillatory system in which the motion is described by a linear differential equation. This text then examines the character of the motion of the representative point along the hyperbola. Other chapters consider examples of two basic types of non-linear non-conservative systems, namely, dissipative systems and self-oscillating systems. This book discusses as well the discontinuous self-oscillations of a symmetrical multi-vibrator neglecting anode reaction. The final chapter deals with the immense practical importance of the stability of physical systems containing energy sources particularly control systems. This book is a valuable resource for electrical engineers, scientists, physicists, and mathematicians.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Elements of Electricity for Technical Students The book then is especially adapted for use in the short, practical courses given in Trade, Industrial, and Technical High Schools and Apprenticeship courses, but also affords a substantial ground-work for the more advanced work in Electrical theory and practice in colleges and universities. In conclusion, the author wishes to express his appreciation and thanks to Mr. Joseph M. Jameson, Head of the Depart ment of Physics, and to Mr. Arthur L. Williston, formerly Director of the School of Science and Technology, Pratt Institute, for their assistance and constant encouragement in developing an Elementary Electrical course as here outlined. Book Electrical Measurements Classic Reprint

Download or read book Electrical Measurements Classic Reprint written by Frank A. Laws and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-15 with total page 736 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Electrical Measurements In this book it is intended to give a general treatment of the subject of electrical measurements, special emphasis being placed on those matters which are important to the student of electrical engineering. In preparing a book of this character one has to consider, not only the mature reader who may desire a compendium of methods together with certain practical suggestions, but the student who is beginning the study of Electrical Engineering and who should acquire early in his course a sound knowledge of the process of electrical measurement. This knowledge is fundamental not only to much of the work which the student is required to do in the dynamo laboratory as a matter of engineering training, but to an adequate understanding of electrical testing as it is eu countered in the practice of the electrical engineering profession. In the preparation of the text this second class of readers has been particularly in mind. It is assumed that those who use this text have had courses in physics, the theory of electricity, and in mathematics, such as are given to third year students in technical schools of the first rank.
