Book Electric Circuit Problems with Solutions

Download or read book Electric Circuit Problems with Solutions written by F. A. Benson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrical-engineering and electronic-engineering students have frequently to resolve and simplify quite complex circuits in order to understand them or to obtain numerical results and a sound knowledge of basic circuit theory is therefore essential. The author is very much in favour of tutorials and the solving of problems as a method of education. Experience shows that many engineering students encounter difficulties when they first apply their theoretical knowledge to practical problems. Over a period of about twenty years the author has collected a large number of problems on electric circuits while giving lectures to students attending the first two post-intermediate years of Uni versity engineering courses. The purpose of this book is to present these problems (a total of 365) together with many solutions (some problems, with answers, given at the end of each Chapter, are left as student exercises) in the hope that they will prove of value to other teachers and students. Solutions are separated from the problems so that they will not be seen by accident. The answer is given at the end of each problem, however, for convenience. Parts of the book are based on the author's previous work Electrical Engineering Problems with Solutions which was published in 1954.

Book Fast Analytical Techniques for Electrical and Electronic Circuits

Download or read book Fast Analytical Techniques for Electrical and Electronic Circuits written by Vatché Vorpérian and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2002-05-23 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only method of circuit analysis known to most engineers and students is nodal or loop analysis. Although this works well for obtaining numerical solutions, it is almost useless for obtaining analytical solutions in all but the simplest cases. In this unusual 2002 book, Vorpérian describes remarkable alternative techniques to solve, almost by inspection, complicated linear circuits in symbolic form and obtain meaningful analytical answers for any transfer function or impedance. Although not intended to replace traditional computer-based methods, these techniques provide engineers with a powerful set of tools for tackling circuit design problems. They also have great value in enhancing students' understanding of circuit operation, making this an ideal course book, and numerous problems and worked examples are included. Originally developed by Professor David Middlebrook and others at Caltech (California Institute of Technology), the techniques described here are now widely taught at institutions and companies around the world.

Book Fundamentals of Electric Circuit Analysis

Download or read book Fundamentals of Electric Circuit Analysis written by Clayton R. Paul and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2001 with total page 534 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Focusing on the development of fundamental skills, this new text is designed for a one-semester course in the analysis of linear circuits. The author meticulously covers the important topics within a sound pedagogical organization while minimizing unnecessary detail so that the student can develop a lasting and sound set of analysis skills. The major topics presented include the analysis of resistive circuits (including controlled sources and op amps) and the analysis of circuits in the sinusoidal steady state (phasor analysis). Emphasized also is the analysis of circuits in the time domain in response to a disturbance (switching operations and the unit step and unit impulse responses) and is developed primarily using the Laplace transform. A brief description of the classical method of solving the circuit differential equations is included.

Book Understanding Circuits

Download or read book Understanding Circuits written by Khalid Sayood and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2006-01-01 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book/lecture is intended for a college freshman level class in problem solving, where the particular problems deal with electrical and electronic circuits. It can also be used in a junior/senior level class in high school to teach circuit analysis. The basic problem-solving paradigm used in this book is that of resolution of a problem into its component parts. The reader learns how to take circuits of varying levels of complexity using this paradigm. The problem-solving exercises also familiarize the reader with a number of different circuit components including resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, and operational amplifiers and their use in practical circuits. The reader should come away with both an understanding of how to approach complex problems and a “feel” for electrical and electronic circuits.

Despite the publication of hundreds of textbooks in this field, each one intended to provide an improvement over previous textbooks, students of electronics continue to remain perplexed as a result of numerous subject areas that must be remembered and correlated when solving problems. Various interpretations of electronics terms also contribute to the difficulties of mastering the subject. In a study of electronics, REA found the following basic reasons underlying the inherent difficulties of electronics: No systematic rules of analysis were ever developed to follow in a step-by-step manner to solve typically encountered problems. This results from numerous different conditions and principles involved in a problem that leads to many possible different solution methods. To prescribe a set of rules for each of the possible variations would involve an enormous number of additional steps, making this task more burdensome than solving the problem directly due to the expectation of much trial and error. Current textbooks normally explain a given principle in a few pages written by an electronics professional who has insight into the subject matter not shared by others. These explanations are often written in an abstract manner that causes confusion as to the principle''s use and application. Explanations then are often not sufficiently detailed or extensive enough to make the reader aware of the wide range of applications and different aspects of the principle being studied. The numerous possible variations of principles and their applications are usually not discussed, and it is left to the reader to discover this while doing exercises. Accordingly, the average student is expected to rediscover that which has long been established and practiced, but not always published or adequately explained. The examples typically following the explanation of a topic are too few in number and too simple to enable the student to obtain a thorough grasp of the involved principles. The explanations do not provide sufficient basis to solve pro
