Book Plastic Deformation and Strain Hardening

Download or read book Plastic Deformation and Strain Hardening written by P.O. Kettunen and published by Trans Tech Publications Ltd. This book was released on 2003-03-01 with total page 420 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication is based upon lectures given during a well-received course on physical metallurgy and originally intended for students specializing in fields related to metallic materials. But, as the author points out, metallic materials are the most widely investigated group of materials and their study therefore gives a good basis for understanding how other materials can be made to reveal interrelationships between their structures and properties; especially with regard to those properties associated with strain. Similar types of rule can then be applied to other materials, in spite of their apparent differences.

The Mathematical Theory of Elasticity covers plane stress and plane strain in the isotropic medium, holes and fillets of assignable shapes, approximate conformal mapping, reinforcement of holes, mixed boundary value problems, the third fundamental problem in two dimensions, eigensolutions for plane and axisymmetric states, anisotropic elasticity, thermal stress, elastic waves induced by thermal shock, three-dimensional contact problems, wave propagation, traveling loads and sources of disturbance, diffraction, and pulse propagation. The Mathematical Theory of Plasticity explores the theory of perfectly plastic solids, the theory of strain-hardening plastic solids, piecewise linear plasticity, minimum principles of plasticity, bending of a circular plate, and other problems.

Book Stress and Strain Distributions in a Thick walled Cylinder of Strain hardening Material Elastic plastically Strained by Internal Pressure

Download or read book Stress and Strain Distributions in a Thick walled Cylinder of Strain hardening Material Elastic plastically Strained by Internal Pressure written by Chang Keng Liu and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An attempt is made to extend Allen and Sopwith's solution for an elastic-plastic thick-walled cylinder of ideally plastic material to strain-hardening material. Tresca's criterion of yielding is modified so that the effective stress (usually considered a function of the effective strain) is proportional to a simple power function of the radius in the plastic zone. An analysis of Allen and Sopwith's solution for ideally plastic material seems to support and justify the proposed modification of the yielding criterionZ The exponent of the power function is taken as -3/2, -5/4, 1, and -1/2, in each case yielding an analytic solution corresponding to a particular strain-hardening material. Examples worked are for the case of plane strain and for a ratio of outer to inner radii of 2. 0. When the exponent is taken to be zero, the solution becomes identical to that of Allen and Sopwith. For exponents other than the five mentioned above, numerical or graphical methods of integration may be used.

Book Plasticity Theory

Download or read book Plasticity Theory written by Jacob Lubliner and published by Courier Corporation. This book was released on 2013-04-22 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of Plasticity Theory is to provide a comprehensive introduction to the contemporary state of knowledge in basic plasticity theory and to its applications. It treats several areas not commonly found between the covers of a single book: the physics of plasticity, constitutive theory, dynamic plasticity, large-deformation plasticity, and numerical methods, in addition to a representative survey of problems treated by classical methods, such as elastic-plastic problems, plane plastic flow, and limit analysis; the problem discussed come from areas of interest to mechanical, structural, and geotechnical engineers, metallurgists and others. The necessary mathematics and basic mechanics and thermodynamics are covered in an introductory chapter, making the book a self-contained text suitable for advanced undergraduates and graduate students, as well as a reference for practitioners of solid mechanics.

Book Theory of Plasticity

Download or read book Theory of Plasticity written by Jagabanduhu Chakrabarty and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 896 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Plasticity is concerned with the mechanics of materials deformed beyond their elastic limit. A strong knowledge of plasticity is essential for engineers dealing with a wide range of engineering problems, such as those encountered in the forming of metals, the design of pressure vessels, the mechanics of impact, civil and structural engineering, as well as the understanding of fatigue and the economical design of structures. Theory of Plasticity is the most comprehensive reference on the subject as well as the most up to date -- no other significant Plasticity reference has been published recently, making this of great interest to academics and professionals. This new edition presents extensive new material on the use of computational methods, plus coverage of important developments in cyclic plasticity and soil plasticity. A complete plasticity reference for graduate students, researchers and practicing engineers; no other book offers such an up to date or comprehensive reference on this key continuum mechanics subject Updates with new material on computational analysis and applications, new end of chapter exercises Plasticity is a key subject in all mechanical engineering disciplines, as well as in manufacturing engineering and civil engineering. Chakrabarty is one of the subject's leading figures.

Book Engineering Plasticity

Download or read book Engineering Plasticity written by C. R. Calladine and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineering Plasticity deals with certain features of the theory of plasticity that can be applied to engineering design. Topics covered range from specification of an ideal plastic material to the behavior of structures made of idealized elastic-plastic material, theorems of plastic theory, and rotating discs, along with torsion, indentation problems, and slip-line fields. This book consists of 12 chapters and begins by providing an engineering background for the theory of plasticity, with emphasis on the use of metals in structural engineering; the nature of physical theories; and the conceptual simplicity and power of plastic theory. The next chapter explains how to set up a model of the plastic behavior of metal for use in analysis and design of structures and forming processes, paying particular attention to the plastic deformation that occurs when a specimen of metal is stressed. Subsequent chapters focus on the behavior of a simple structure made of elastic-plastic material; theorems of plastic theory; rotating discs; and indentation problems. Torsion, slip-line fields, and circular plates under transverse loading are also discussed, together with wire-drawing and extrusion and the effects of changes in geometry on structure. This monograph is written primarily for engineering students.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applied Elasticity and Plasticity is a comprehensive work that introduces graduate students and professionals in civil, mechanical, aeronautical and metallurgical engineering to the basic theories of elasticity, plasticity and their practical applications.
