Book Shakedown of Elastic Plastic Structures

Download or read book Shakedown of Elastic Plastic Structures written by J.A. König and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, the author has collected existing information on the analysis of elastic-plastic structures subjected to variable repeated loads and to variable temperature fields. He presents the foundations of the theory and its applications to the shakedown analysis of structures of various types and to computational algorithms. The book provides useful and interesting material for students of civil and mechanical engineering, practising engineers with a good mathematical background and also scientists concerned with the analysis of inelastic structures.

Book Simplified Theory of Plastic Zones

Download or read book Simplified Theory of Plastic Zones written by Hartwig Hübel and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-06-29 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present book provides a new method to estimate elastic-plastic strains via a series of linear elastic analyses. For a life prediction of structures subjected to variable loads, frequently encountered in mechanical and civil engineering, the cyclically accumulated deformation and the elastic plastic strain ranges are required. The Simplified Theory of Plastic Zones (STPZ) is a direct method which provides the estimates of these and all other mechanical quantities in the state of elastic and plastic shakedown. The STPZ is described in detail, with emphasis on the fact that not only scientists but engineers working in applied fields and advanced students are able to get an idea of the possibilities and limitations of the STPZ. Numerous illustrations and examples are provided to support the reader's understanding.

Book Elastic Plastic Dynamic Analysis of Axisymmetric Solids

Download or read book Elastic Plastic Dynamic Analysis of Axisymmetric Solids written by Sambamurthy Nagarajan and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents a computer program for the elastic-plastic dynamic analysis of shells of revolution. General isoparametric elements with curved sides are used in the finite element discretization. These are capable of representing solids of revolution in the form of a layered system. Structures with complex geometries and sharp discontinuities may be studied. Solutions can be obtained for both thin and thick shells because the customary Kirchhoff-Love hypothesis is not invoked. Dynamic analysis is carried out by means of step-by-step integration, the program allowing for the use of any of the schemes belonging to the Newmark family of methods (with free parameters gamma and beta) and the Wilson and Farhoomand theta method. Flow theory of plasticity is used in the inelastic range, and either isotropic hardening or kinematic linear hardening may be adopted. The program can analyze axisymmetric structures subjected to axially symmetric loading as well as plane stress problems. Numerical examples presented include the static analysis of a fixed end beam and the dynamic analyses of a cantilever, a simply supported beam, and two spherical caps. (Author).

Book Structural Plasticity

Download or read book Structural Plasticity written by Mao-Hong Yu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-11-14 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Limit and shakedown analysis for structures can provide a very useful tool for design and analysis of engineering structures. "Structural Plasticity - Limit, Shakedown and Dynamic Plastic Analyses of Structure" provides more general solutions of limit and shakedown analysis for structures by using a unified strength theory. A series of solutions of plates from circular, annular plates to rhombus plates and square plates, rotating discs and cylinders, pressure vessels are presented. These results encompass the Tresca-Mohr-Coulomb solution of structure as special cases. The unified solution, which cannot be obtained by using a single criterion, is suitable to more materials and structures. Maohong Yu is professor of Department of Civil Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. He has authored 12 books including "Unified Strength Theory and Its Applications" and "Generalized Plasticity".

Book Elastic Plastic Analysis by the Hybrid Stress Model and the Initial Stress Approach

Download or read book Elastic Plastic Analysis by the Hybrid Stress Model and the Initial Stress Approach written by Robert L. Spilker and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SITE MATERIALS, Structures, Fibers, Mathematical models, Stresses, Stress strain relations, Static loadsFinite element analysisA finite-element elastic-plastic incremental procedure for the static analysis of structures whose initially-isotropic material behavior may be elastic, perfectly-plastic or strain hardening has been developed and implemented in a breadboard computer program. The formulation is based on the assumed-stress hybrid model and the initial stress included by modifying the conventional hybrid functional, resulting in a consistently derived equivalent load vector due to the initial stress. Also included in the formulation is an equivalent load term corresponding to the possible compatibility mismatch at each incremental step. The formulation and the corresponding solution procedure are evaluated using a particular plane-stress example, and convergence of the solution is shown. (Author).
