Une modélisation numérique a été effectuée pour représenter les cinétiques réactionnelles. L'étude de l'activité photocatalytique des nanodépôts sur billes de verre pour la dégradation du TCE en phase gaz a montré que ces dépôts en monocouche amorphe présentaient une efficacité interne comparable ou supérieure à la référence, le Dégussa P25. Le traitement thermique des dépôts en multicouche améliore leur efficacité avec un maximum pour le traitement à 400°C. Book excerpt: L'objectif de cette étude était d'élaborer par deux techniques différentes, l'inversion de phase dans une solution de polymère, et la technique sol-gel pour former des particules de gel de silice, de nouveaux catalyseurs supportés à base d'anatase (dioxyde de titane), pour la dépollution d'effluents colorés par dégradation des colorants par photocatalyse sur anatase. les deux composites catalyseurs synthétisés TiO2/SiO2 et TiO2/PVdF ont ét é caractérisés par différentes techniques physicochimiques et optiques et étudiés quant à leur efficacité photocatalytique dans la dégradation de deux colorants (carmin d'indigo et vert brillant) et dans la désinfection par destruction des bactéries. L'étude du rendement catalytique des deux composites catalyseurs a montré que l'activité photocatalytique du TiO2/SiO2 est meilleure pour les colorants alors que le TiO2/PVdF a montré un haut effet bactéricide. La réutilisation de ces deux composites catalyseurs est possible avec une faible perte de l'efficacité photocatalytique pour le TiO2/PVdF ; pour ce dernier, on a montré une compétition des molécules de colorants en mélange pour les mêmes sites sur lesquels a lieu la sorption, puis dégradation. Enfin, la faisabilité technique du catalyseur supportée par membrane TiO2/PVdF dans la minéralisation de colorants aqueux, sans qu'une étape de séparation du catalyseur soit requise, a été démontrée avec un réacteur solaire plan à alimentation continue.

Book excerpt: Des catalyseurs hétérogènes à base d'oxydes de manganèse associés aux dioxydes de titane, zirconium et cérium (Mn-Ti-O, Mn-Zr-O et Mn-Ce-O) ont été préparés par différentes voies de synthèse et évalués dans l'Oxydation en Voie Humide Catalytique (OVHC) de la méthylamine. Diverses voies de synthèse ont été explorées pour la préparation de ces catalyseurs, notamment une voie sol-gel mettant en oeuvre des copolymères à bloc, une voie de nanomoulage dans des moules de silice mésoporeuse et une voie solvothermale. L'insertion du manganèse a été réalisée de deux manières : soit ab initio dès le début de la synthèse, soit a posteriori par imprégnation d'un support préalablement formé avec un précurseur de manganèse. Des oxydes mixtes mésoporeux ou des oxydes de manganèse supportés sur des oxydes mésoporeux de Ti, Zr et Ce ont été réalisés. Si la texture de ces matériaux est relativement préservée, d'importantes ségrégations du manganèse ont parfois été observées après réaction. Ces catalyseurs ont été évalués dans l'OVHC de la méthylamine, une molécule organique azotée prise pour modèle. Ils sont tous actifs dans la dégradation de la méthylamine. Toutefois, ceux associant le manganèse au cérium sont les plus performants, devant les matériaux manganèse-zirconium et manganèse-titane. Deux voies de dégradation de la méthylamine ont été mises en évidence. Quel que soit le catalyseur, la première voie mène à la formation d'ions NH4 +, HCOO-, NO2 - et NO3 - présents en phase aqueuse. Les ions ammonium et formiates, formés en quantités équimolaires en tout début de réaction, sont des produits primaires de cette réaction. Les ions ammonium sont réfractaires à l'oxydation et s'accumulent dans le milieu réactionnel alors que les ions formiates sont complètement minéralisés en CO2 et H2O en fin de réaction. Nitrites et nitrates sont détectés à l'état de traces. La deuxième voie conduit directement et très majoritairement à N2 et CO2, sans qu'aucun autre composé ne soit détecté intermédiairement en phase liquide. Cette dernière voie peut représenter jusqu'à 50% de la dégradation de la méthylamine. En fin de réaction, la totalité de la fraction carbonée de la méthylamine a été minéralisée en CO2 et la sélectivité en diazote atteint jusqu'à 50%.

Book excerpt: La synthèse d'oxydes de titane par voie sol-gel consiste, ici, à réaliser l'hydrolyse et la condensation du tétraisopropoxyde de titane. Les actes chimiques élémentaires sont bien connus, mais les cinétiques, outils indispensable pour l'extrapolation à l'échelle industrielle, sont encore mal comprises. L'étude de la période d'induction de cette précipitation a donc été réalisée afin de passer de la synthèse de laboratoire au procédé. Ainsi, un nouveau réacteur sol-gel a donc été mis au point afin de répondre aux attentes suivantes: contrôle du mélange et du micromélange des réactifs par leur injection en quelques secondes à travers un mélangeur statique en T, de la température et de l'atmosphère au sein du réacteur et possibilité de maintien du mélange dans le réacteur par agitation mécanique. Un organe de mesure in-situ de l'évolution des sols a été réalisé. Son fonctionnement est basé sur la diffusion de la lumière par la suspension et l'emploi de fibres optiques. Il peut être utilisé dans un réacteur non transparent, sous agitation modérée et permet de reculer les limites imposées par la diffusion multiple. Ce système réacteur+sonde de mesure a fourni des résultats cinétiques contrôlables et reproductibles, en particulier pour la durée des périodes d'induction et l'évolution du rayon moyen des sols. Les données obtenues ont servi de base à un modèle cinétique d'agrégation de sols à structure polymérique de dimension fractale proche de 1, contrôlée par les réactions d'hydrolyse et de condensation entre les nuclei produits initialement. Il permet de prédire l'évolution de la suspension et donc de contrôler la synthèse d'oxydes de titane par voie sol-gel.

Book excerpt: Nous cherchons ici, dans un premier temps, à optimiser les propriétés photocatalytiques de TiO2 pour la dégradation d’agents chimiques de guerre ou leurs simulants pour des longueurs d’onde appartenant au spectre du visible, permettant ainsi d’utiliser une grande partie du spectre solaire. Deux principales approches ont ainsi été développées: (i) une méthode de synthèse sol-gel de TiO2 de phases cristallographiques mixtes anatase/rutile (ii) L’utilisation de nanotubes de titanates couplés à un autre semi-conducteur, le WO3. L'activité photocatalytique de ces nanomatériaux unidimensionnels sous illumination solaire artificielle vis-à-vis de la dégradation sous flux du sulfure de diéthyle (simulant de l’ypérite) a montré une meilleure activité. Ces résultats sont le fruit d'une corrélation intime entre une grande surface spécifique, une absorption dans la partie visible du spectre solaire, une acidité de surface favorable et une limitation de la recombinaison des charges photogénérées. Par la suite, une dernière partie de cette étude visait le dépôt homogène des nanomatériaux sur des fibres textiles. Différentes techniques "classiques" ont été utilisés tel que le trempage dans une solution colloïdale ou encore le dépôt par spray à l'aide d'un pulvérisateur haute pression. Une étude plus innovante a été menée en utilisant une technique dite de multicouches utilisant l'alternance d'absorption d'un électrolyte cationique (polyéthylèneimine, PEI+) et de nanotubes de titanate / 4% WO3. Ces textiles ont ensuite été testés pour la dégradation de microgouttellettes de diméthyle méthylphosphonate (simulant des organophosphonates) sous illumination solaire. L'ajout de ce photocatalyseur a permis d'augmenter d'un facteur trois à quatre l'activité de dégradation totale de l'agent chimique en contact avec le textile fonctionnalisé. Nous avons ainsi pu obtenir une dégradation complète de l'agent toxique en quelques minutes (entre 7 et 10min), éliminant ainsi toute la toxicité présente sur le textile.
