Book Burger King Changing or Imitating

Download or read book Burger King Changing or Imitating written by Anthony Vu and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2013-01-04 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2012 in the subject Business economics - Marketing, Corporate Communication, CRM, Market Research, Social Media, grade: A-, Santa Clara University, language: English, abstract: Purchased in 2010 by 3G Capital Management, BK became privately owned with a single business corporate strategy. Immediately, the new ownership group set out to make impactful company-wide changes. The first change was the elimination of the firm’s “King” mascot in 2011, which was seen as edgy and targeted towards young men in their teens and twenties. The new phase, which began earlier this year, consists of a drastic change in overall brand strategy to reposition BK as a broad and appealing restaurant in the QSR industry. To attract a wider audience, such as women and health-conscious customers, BK has added a significant amount of menu items including smoothies, coffee drinks, and salads. Furthermore, it has set out to remodel around 1,500 restaurants. In place of the previous mascot, BK has enlisted A-list celebrities (i.e., David Beckham and Selma Hayek) to advertise its products. Another strategy that they plan to implement is to sell almost all of its 1,300 corporate stores to franchise stores in an effort to protect itself from commodity-cost swings and fixed costs. With significant competition from both current as well as fast-growing QSRs (i.e., Five Guys Burgers and Fries, Panera Bread, and Chipotle Mexican Grill), BK’s recent moves have been perceived as imitating the leader, McDonald’s, rather than differentiating the company. While it remains to be seen whether or not the strategy is enough to grow the business, a potential concern is whether 3G Capital Management is looking for long-term growth or settling for marginal growth in the short-term to fund their exit from the company by going back to a public entity. The current strategy conveys that BK is in “catch-up” mode instead of trying to distinguish itself as a premier QSR. Considering both internal and external factors, the firm needs to win back and increase its customer base as the way to grow its business. To do this, some recommendations for BK in the short-term are to introduce a happy hour that includes an accommodating menu of new products, offer nutritious kid’s meals that are part of a healthy, balanced diet, and launch an online ordering system for customers to pre-order meals for pick-up. In the longer-term, we suggest BK buy out the highest performing franchises to gain additional streams of revenue, implement an incentive program to reward the best franchise stores, and start a high density delivery service.

Book Disciplinary Literacy and Explicit Vocabulary Teaching A whole school approach to closing the attainment gap

Download or read book Disciplinary Literacy and Explicit Vocabulary Teaching A whole school approach to closing the attainment gap written by Kathrine Mortimore and published by John Catt. This book was released on 2020-12-15 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Firmly rooted in research evidence of what works within the classroom for our most disadvantaged students, Disciplinary Literacy and Explicit Vocabulary Teaching offers teachers and school leaders practical ways in which those students who are behind in their literacy capabilities can make excellent progress. Building on the work of Geoff Barton in his influential book Don’t Call it Literacy, Kathrine Mortimore outlines the unique literacy challenges posed by specific subject areas for those with weaker literacy skills, and more importantly how these challenges can be addressed and overcome. A student’s GCSE results are vital in giving them the choices they deserve in order to go on to the next stage of their academic careers. This book draws on the success stories of schools and subjects that have made significant improvements in the outcomes of the children they teach, regardless of their starting points. From the inevitable success of Michaela Community school, to the gains made by the English department at Torquay Academy and the rapid reading improvements at Henley Bank, this book draws on both whole school initiatives and subject-specific strategies which have had proven success. This book places a wide and balanced knowledge-rich curriculum at the centre of any school improvement strategy designed to improve literacy, and illustrates the role that all subjects must combine to play in building the vital background knowledge and vocabulary that young people need in order to read independently. This curriculum must then be delivered using those teaching methods that have had the greatest impact on disadvantaged learners, and this book sets out how the methodology of direct and explicit instruction can be adopted within each subject area. Alongside this is a useful summary of staff development and inset which offers practical ways in which teachers’ adoption of these effective strategies can be facilitated. There are also useful sections on creating a whole school dictionary of essential vocabulary, creating a culture of reading and writing, and also those key literacy barriers experienced by those students with some of the most common special educational needs.

Book Big Data Marketing Strategies for Superior Customer Experience

Download or read book Big Data Marketing Strategies for Superior Customer Experience written by Saura, Jose Ramon and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-04-17 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rapid growth of technological developments on the internet has led many companies to adapt their businesses to the digital ecosystem and implement new methods and techniques to improve the users’ experiences and their analytical strategies. Moreover, in the past few years, the digital ecosystem has been chosen as the main channel used by consumers for the purchase of goods and services. As a result, digital marketing and online advertising have become the main strategies used by companies in their marketing actions. Advertising can be designed and shown considering users’ interests based on what they visit or where they go. That implies that the user experience is improved as long as they receive personalized adverts focused on what they were curious or concerned about. Thus, techniques such as artificial intelligence (AI), data mining, or business intelligence have allowed companies to act accordingly in real-time without user perception. Big Data Marketing Strategies for Superior Customer Experience compiles and studies the major practices and case studies of big data marketing in recent years. In this digital era, this book can be used as a sourcebook on study cases focused on digital marketing strategies as well as the identification of new technologies that will help the development of initiatives and practices focused on marketing and data sciences. Covering topics such as customer satisfaction, collective intelligence, and sentiment analysis, this premier reference source is an essential resource for students and educators of higher education, marketers, innovators, business leaders and managers, entrepreneurs, librarians, researchers, and academicians.

Book Wag the Dog A Study on Film and Reality in the Digital Age

Download or read book Wag the Dog A Study on Film and Reality in the Digital Age written by Eleftheria Thanouli and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2013-08-01 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wag the Dog is a film that became a media event and a cultural icon because it inadvertently short-circuited the distance that is supposed to separate reality and fiction. The film's narration challenges the established boundaries between the fiction and nonfiction tradition, as Barry Levinson, the director, embeds his interest in documentary filmmaking and complicates the issue of narrative agency in the way he frames the story. The examination of the historical and social context in which it was produced, exhibited and received worldwide enables the author to illuminate a series of changes in the way a fiction film reflects and interacts with reality, urging us to reconsider some of our central and long-standing concepts or even paradigms in film theory. Eleftheria Thanouli provides new insights into a series of issues from both classical and contemporary film theory, like the conceptual and ontological stakes in the use of digital technology, the impact of mass media on public memory and the political role of cinema in a globalized and conglomerated world.
