Se desarrollo una solucion preventiva para la proteccion y conservacion de este cuerpo lacustre mediante la implementacion de un sistema de tratamiento en cada localidad riberena basado en humedales artificiales. El diseno y construccion del sistema se fundamenta en principios de ingenieria, datos de campo y estudios extensos a nivel piloto. Para la experimentacion a nivel laboratorio se trabajo con Typha domingensis y se analizo su comportamiento en la remocion de contaminantes para humedales de flujo libre superficial y subsuperficial con la finalidad de validar los modelos resultantes mediante pruebas de campo que fueron realizadas en una planta piloto. Estos datos permitieron efectuar el escalamiento de la planta para las diferentes localidades."
