Book excerpt: La realización de estudios de accesibilidad y conectividad son básicos para la planificación de una red de transporte público. Para ello, hay que definir muy claramente la diferencia entre ambos conceptos; accesibilidad es el tiempo empleado desde el origen de nuestro viaje hasta entrar en el medio de transporte público, mientras que conectividad es el tiempo empleado dentro del medio de transporte. Últimamente estos estudios se han llevado a cabo gracias a la ayuda de las herramientas de Sistema de Información Geográfica (SIG). El presente trabajo presenta un modelo de accesibilidad mediante el uso del programa ArcGIS. Este modelo evalúa el tiempo total invertido en llegar desde una parcela hasta entrar en el medio de transporte público. Los medios de transporte considerados son el autobús, el tranvía, el metro, los ferrocarriles de la Generalitat y los trenes de RENFE. El ámbito de estudio es el Área Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB). El objetivo del trabajo es evaluar la accesibilidad de cada una de las parcelas existentes en el AMB, hallar la accesibilidad de los medios de transporte adaptados y la mejora de accesibilidad ocasionada con las nuevas infraestructuras de transporte público planificadas. También se evalúa la accesibilidad de equipamientos públicos relevantes, como los principales hospitales o los centros universitarios más relevantes. Los resultados muestran una muy buena accesibilidad para el municipio de Barcelona y para la mayoría de municipios que conforman la primera corona. Sin embargo, la accesibilidad va disminuyendo a medida que uno se aleja de Barcelona llegando hasta límites inaceptables. Todos estos resultados son más exagerados en el caso de la accesibilidad adaptada, existiendo graves problemas para acceder a Barcelona desde los municipios de la segunda corona para las Personas con Movilidad Reducida (PMR). Respecto a las inversiones realizadas recientemente, la más rentable es el TRAMBAIX, mientras que de las futuras, la unión del tranvía por la Diagonal es la que muestra una mejora más baja. La Línea 9, por su parte, muestra una mejora ínfima de la accesibilidad, aunque esto es acorde con uno de los objetivos de la planificación de dicha línea, que consiste en la mejora de la conectividad en el municipio de Barcelona y no la de su accesibilidad. Además, se ha realizado una encuesta de elección modal. Los resultados muestran una preferencia hacia los medios de transporte que proporcionan una mayor accesibilidad, especialmente para el uso más frecuente, mientras que en situaciones óptimas se premia más la comodidad del medio de transporte frente a su frecuencia de paso.
