Book Diccionario de la Democracia

Download or read book Diccionario de la Democracia written by Patricio Marcos and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-10 with total page 826 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Di logos Taylor Charles y Bernstein Richard con Daniel Gamper written by Charles Taylor and published by Editorial GEDISA. This book was released on 2017-09 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Rule of Law and the Challenges Posed by the Pandemic

Download or read book Rule of Law and the Challenges Posed by the Pandemic written by Rainer Arnold and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-22 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rule of law represents the heart of constitutionalism. Public power can only be legitimately exercised if it is based on and complies with the law. The Constitution and its fundamental values – human dignity, freedom and equality – are the ultimate sources of orientation for the rule of law. Domestic rule of law is complemented by its external dimension, the duty to respect international law and, for EU member states, supranational law. For the World Jurist Association, the realization of the Rule of Law has been the central concern since its founding more than 60 years ago. Its biennial world congresses, which bring together leading figures from politics, the judiciary and academia under the presidency of Javier Cremades, focus on the universal importance of the rule of law, which experts from numerous countries discuss on the basis of current problem areas. At the 2021 World Law Congress in Barranquilla, Colombia, one central topic was the tension between combating pandemics and the rule of law. The contributions gathered here examine how this challenge was met in political-legal practice, and the role of constitutional jurisdiction in the process. They analyze and evaluate the legal situation in numerous countries in Europe and Latin America. In addition, they reflect on fundamental issues, such as the concept of the rule of law, its relationship to democracy, its universal character and its implementation via jurisprudence.

Book Un mundo contaminado

Download or read book Un mundo contaminado written by José Benegas and published by Deusto. This book was released on 2023-03-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Daniel Cos o Villegas written by James W. Wilkie and published by El Colegio de Mexico AC. This book was released on 2013-09-19 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Dominio Pol tico Permanencias Y Cambios

Download or read book Dominio Pol tico Permanencias Y Cambios written by and published by Teseo. This book was released on 2009-03-04 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book excerpt: The commitment of Carlos Sánchez Berzaín with democracy, law and institutionalism in Latin America have made him the most effective and devastating hammer against this kind of regimes that he encompasses under the category of "dictatorships of the 21st century".In this book you will find articles and essays in which he dissects and denounces the abuses of modern dictators: the evolution of the exercise of tyranny that has changed military uniforms for sportswear; the violent and armed pronouncement by populism, and deception to voters, all with the aim of perpetuating themselves in power at the expense of anything, including the commission of crimes typical of the Sicilian mafia. The killing of the separation of powers, the decapitation of Montesquieu, is now taking place --named Lula, Maduro, Morales, Ortega or Correa, always under the guidance of someone whose last name is Castro.I make public the wish that one day Sánchez Berzaín can return to his native Bolivia to take the place that a fighter for democracy deserves. Until that day arrives, let's enjoy your writings and reflections.-Manuel Aguilera, HispanoPost.com

Book Against Elections

Download or read book Against Elections written by David Van Reybrouck and published by Seven Stories Press. This book was released on 2018-04-17 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A small book with great weight and urgency to it, this is both a history of democracy and a clarion call for change. "Without drastic adjustment, this system cannot last much longer," writes Van Reybrouck, regarded today as one of Europe's most astute thinkers. "If you look at the decline in voter turnout and party membership, and at the way politicians are held in contempt, if you look at how difficult it is to form governments, how little they can do and how harshly they are punished for it, if you look at how quickly populism, technocracy and anti-parliamentarianism are rising, if you look at how more and more citizens are longing for participation and how quickly that desire can tip over into frustration, then you realize we are up to our necks." Not so very long ago, the great battles of democracy were fought for the right to vote. Now, Van Reybrouck writes, "it's all about the right to speak, but in essence it's the same battle, the battle for political emancipation and for democratic participation. We must decolonize democracy. We must democratize democracy." As history, Van Reybrouck makes the compelling argument that modern democracy was designed as much to preserve the rights of the powerful and keep the masses in line, as to give the populace a voice. As change-agent, Against Elections makes the argument that there are forms of government, what he terms sortitive or deliberative democracy, that are beginning to be practiced around the world, and can be the remedy we seek. In Iceland, for example, deliberative democracy was used to write the new constitution. A group of people were chosen by lot, educated in the subject at hand, and then were able to decide what was best, arguably, far better than politicians would have. A fascinating, and workable idea has led to a timely book to remind us that our system of government is a flexible instrument, one that the people have the power to change.

Book Democratic Objectivecracy

Download or read book Democratic Objectivecracy written by Bernardo De Urquidi and published by Bernardo De Urquidi. This book was released on with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Do you trust the government? Do you feel represented by the politicians inside the government? Do you trust politicians? Do you vote for “the lesser of two evils”? The truth is you do not live in a real democracy. Electoral Representative Democracy is not a truly democratic system, it is oppressive, it concentrates power in a few hands, it is inefficient, polarizing, easily corrupted and it tends to generate either stagnation or dictators. What options do we have? Stay on this oppressive, polarizing, and inefficient system until it breaks apart or a dictator or violent revolution terrorizes our society. Implement a more oppressive and totalitarian system to maintain “order” and ramp up “efficiency”. Implement one of the truly democratic but inefficient systems that have already been developed and applied like direct democracy or sortition democracy. Develop new, efficient, just, and real democratic systems and processes like the Democratic Objectivecracy. What is our best option? The Democratic Objectivecracy: a new social organization system that is truly democratic, participatory, efficient, hard to corrupt, that distributes power equally among all citizens, it incentivizes collaboration and cooperation to achieve societies common objectives, it protects citizens from oppression and abuses of power and it generates new opportunities and freedoms. The Democratic Objectivecracy maximizes organization and citizens' power while eliminating hierarchy and the concentration of power in a few hands. Can we really change the system? Of course! Systems have been changed before and they will continue to change. The real question is not whether or not the system will change but whether it will change peacefully or through violence and whether it will change to be more oppressive or a more just and free system. Do you want real democracy?
