Book excerpt: Freud's Mexican disciples, Mexican books, Mexican antiquities, and Mexican dreams. Freud's Mexico is a completely unexpected contribution to Freud studies. Here, Rubén Gallo reveals Freud's previously undisclosed connections to a culture and a psychoanalytic tradition not often associated with him. This book bears detailed testimony to Freud's relationship to a country he never set foot in, but inhabited imaginatively on many levels. In the Mexico of the 1920s and 1930s, Freud made an impact not only among psychiatrists but also in literary, artistic, and political circles. Gallo writes about a “motley crew” of Freud's readers who devised some of the most original, elaborate, and influential applications of psychoanalytic theory anywhere in the world. After describing Mexico's Freud, Gallo offers an imaginative reconstruction of Freud's Mexico: Freud owned a treatise on criminal law by a Mexican judge who put defendants—including Trotsky's assassin—on the psychoanalyst's couch; he acquired Mexican pieces as part of his celebrated collection of antiquities; he recorded dreams of a Mexico that was fraught with danger; and he belonged to a secret society that conducted its affairs in Spanish.

Book Pathology of the Female Genital Tract

Download or read book Pathology of the Female Genital Tract written by A. Blaustein and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 925 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is written for the obstetrician, gynecologist, pathologist, and for residents training in these disciplines. It is a multi-authored book and the editor is aware of the problems this can create, but the expansion of information in the field of gynecologic pathology renders single au thorship obsolete. The format is largely traditional but the contents in clude topics that have not appeared in past texts. Clear cell adenocarcinoma of the vagina and vaginal and cervical adenoses are discussed in detail in a separate chapter. A chapter on embryology and congenital anomalies is writ ten by an embryologist and the advantage of its inclusion is self evident. Ovarian neoplasms in childhood and ado lescence are fortunately rare occurrences, but information concerning them is generally not readily available in exist ing texts. It is of sufficient importance to deserve a separate chapter. Amniotic fluid analysis for fetal viability is now commonly used and for this reason a detailed discussion of this subject is presented. A chapter is included on gross description and prepara tion of gynecologic specimens. It contains the input and review of several directors of gynecologic-pathology labo ratories.

Book Mitos viejos y nuevos sobre sexualidad

Download or read book Mitos viejos y nuevos sobre sexualidad written by Félix López Sánchez and published by Ediciones Pirámide. This book was released on 2020-09-24 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. ¡Atrevámonos a pensar!

Book Global Problems in Sexual Offenses

Download or read book Global Problems in Sexual Offenses written by Rahime Erbas and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-06-21 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sexual offences pose severe violations of human rights that necessitate criminal law intervention in every democratic society. Using a holistic and integrated approach, this book examines sexual offenses through criminal law and criminal procedure within different jurisdictions. Impunity or lenient punishment enjoyed by perpetrators appears as a fundamental concern and contribute to low(er) reporting rates. Attrition, from the perspective of criminal law, is not only caused by issues in criminal procedure, like a lack of victim support or insufficient evidence, but is primarily linked to the definition of sexual offences which is hugely influenced by society, culture, and political power. Stereotypes that are deeply rooted in society in the form of common myths such as: victim of sexual offences are always female(s), or sexual offences take place outside of marriage, or that the victim has an obligation to manifest a resistance, or a woman accepting a gift by a man shows she consented to sexual acts and many others that are impediment to combatting sexual violence. These myths are not just maintained by society, but they also affect the victim’s decision to seek justice, as well as the judiciary’s approach to victims and the police’s attitudes towards victims. Using cases and legislation from Croatia, Greece, Italy, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, and Turkey, and comparing them to United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and the United States, this book presents peculiarities stemming from society, culture, politics, historical facts and even religion, along with solutions to the global problems of sexual offenses. This book is of interest to scholars studying criminal justice, legal studies, sociology, and cultural studies
