Book Mujer e igualdad

Download or read book Mujer e igualdad written by Begoña Echevarría Llombart and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Democracia y participaci n pol tica de las mujeres written by Ruth M. Mestre i Mestre and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Gender Parity and Multicultural Feminism

Download or read book Gender Parity and Multicultural Feminism written by Ruth Rubio-Marín and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-09-26 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Around the world, we see a 'participatory turn' in the pursuit of gender equality, exemplified by the adoption of gender quotas in national legislatures to promote women's role as decision-makers. We also see a 'pluralism turn', with increasing legal recognition given to the customary law or religious law of minority groups and indigenous peoples. To date, the former trend has primarily benefitted majority women, and the latter has primarily benefitted minority men. Neither has effectively ensured the participation of minority women. In response, multicultural feminists have proposed institutional innovations to strengthen the voice of minority women, both at the state level and in decisions about the interpretation and evolution of cultural and religious practices. This volume explores the connection between gender parity and multicultural feminism, both at the level of theory and in practice. The authors explore a range of cases from Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa, in relation to state law, customary law, religious law, and indigenous law. While many obstacles remain, and many women continue to suffer from the paradox of multicultural vulnerability, these innovations in theory and practice offer new prospects for reconciling gender equality and pluralism.

Book Women s Right to the City

Download or read book Women s Right to the City written by Cruz Armando González Izaguirre and published by Nomos Verlag. This book was released on 2019-11-20 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book The Palgrave Handbook of Women s Political Rights

Download or read book The Palgrave Handbook of Women s Political Rights written by Susan Franceschet and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-10-26 with total page 751 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Palgrave Handbook provides a definitive account of women’s political rights across all major regions of the world, focusing both on women’s right to vote and women’s right to run for political office. This dual focus makes this the first book to combine historical overviews of debates about enfranchising women alongside analyses of more contemporary efforts to increase women’s political representation around the globe. Chapter authors map and assess the impact of these groundbreaking reforms, providing insight into these dynamics in a wide array of countries where women’s suffrage and representation have taken different paths and led to varying degrees of transformation. On the eve of many countries celebrating a century of women’s suffrage, as well as record numbers of women elected and appointed to political office, this timely volume offers an important introduction to ongoing developments related to women’s political empowerment worldwide. It will be of interest to students and scholars across the fields of gender and politics, women’s studies, history and sociology.

Book Struggles for recognition

Download or read book Struggles for recognition written by and published by Dykinson. This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past decades, an increasingly influential Political Philosophy approach has been seen to defend issues relating to cultural injustices. The daily struggles arising from political agendas within different societies confirm this. This perspective can be summarised using the Hegelian expression “struggle for recognition”, and it is this expression that underpins the current position of minorities members and their defenders. This means that misrecognition, disrespect, and humiliation form the base of (cultural) injustices and must be avoided. Minorities are a fundamental part of democratic societies, but their rights have not always been respected. Inmigrants are currently the object of xenophobic campaigns. Rome people, the European minority, face additional difficulties, which results in them being key players in cases of indiret discrimination. The distribution of territorial power and the situation of national minorities have been causes of different political problems.“Who am I? Where do I belong?” are questions asking for indentity. Some people argue these should be relevant issues when applying the criminal law, circle of moral incumbency to cover animals -non humans-, arguing that they of life that involves their survival as a whole. Those groups are faced with members and their defenders. This publication is part of the “New Challenges of Law” project. Book Decolonizing Constitutionalism

Download or read book Decolonizing Constitutionalism written by Boaventura de Sousa Santos and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-07-31 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The modern state, law, and constitution result from a legal canon that (re)produces the abyssal lines dividing the world that is validated from the world whose humanity and epistemological validity are denied. This book aims to contribute to a post-abyssal reflection on law and constitutionalism by considering the structural axes of power that are constitutive of modern law “capitalism, colonialism, and heteropatriarchy” alongside the legal plurality of the world. Is it possible to decolonize, decommodify, and depatriarchalize the constitution? The authors speak from multiple geographies, raise different questions, resort to differentiated theoretical approaches, and reveal varying levels of optimism about the possibilities of transforming constitutions. The readers are confronted with critical perspectives on the Eurocentric legal canon, as well as with the recognition of anti-capitalist, anti-colonial, and anti-patriarchal legal experiences. The horizon of this publication is the expansion of the possibilities of legal and political imagination.
