Se refiere, entre otras, a variables como la falta de cohesión grupal, carencias en la relación psicosocial entre el trabajador y su líder, la percepción de accidente y su prevención que traen los trabajadores de su propio contexto familiar, social y cultural. Este último concepto, alude a las representaciones sociales del trabajador constituidas por las ideas de sentido común, que muchas veces difieren de los conceptos que se imparten en Seguridad Laboral en el Trabajo. También advierte sobre las trampas mentales que desvían el análisis preventivo y el accidentológico. Aparte de ello, la teoría amplía la noción de accidente y se proyecta al campo general de los accidentes: viales, epidemiológicos, catástrofes sociales como un terremoto, una pandemia. Enriquece la gestión preventiva del accidente, brindando opciones de diagnóstico, causas y su tratamiento.
