Book Politik der Inklusion und Exklusion

Download or read book Politik der Inklusion und Exklusion written by Ilker Ataç and published by V&R unipress GmbH. This book was released on 2013 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Internal exclusion, rather than full democratic inclusion, characterizes European immigration societies. Migrants build a part of politics and society, yet they are structurally excluded from participation in certain segments of the life. This edited volume aims to contribute to the explanation of the unequal access to differentiated rights and resources by using the concept of inclusion and exclusion. It focuses on material and symbolic mechanisms and conditions, attitudes and discourses, which produce differentiated rights and belongings of migrants. The book includes both conceptual-theoretical and empirical contributions. The topics addressed include: how spatial and temporal criteria regulate the access to social and political rights, which conflicts and negotiation processes over citizenship are taking place, which political actors are involved in these processes, and how civil society protests against exclusion.

Book Victors and Vanquished in the Euro Mediterranean

Download or read book Victors and Vanquished in the Euro Mediterranean written by Johannes Pahlitzsch and published by V&R unipress. This book was released on 2024-03-11 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume presents a comparative perspective on victors and vanquished according to the categories of remembering victory and defeat, practices of celebrating victory and triumphs as well as the culture of dealing with the vanquished. Specifically, the representation of victory and defeat in Byzantine literature of the 10th–12th centuries is contrasted with commemorative practices in early Russia, and the reflection of military events in courtly music of the 15th century is examined. In addition, the practices of celebrating victories in England in the High and Late Middle Ages are explored, as is the treatment of the defeated and the subjugated in the Frankish Empire of the 9th century, in Norman southern Italy and in Byzantium.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents thoughts on and experiences with the introduction of Theme-centered Interaction (TCI) into academia. TCI is a systematic didactic, ‘living learning’ approach originally developed by social psychologist and pedagogue Ruth C. Cohn. The book explains and introduces the method, attitude and theory of TCI to a broader, higher education audience and relates it to such questions as: How does a teacher in academia achieve a lively and engaging atmosphere in their seminars? How do young academics as leaders-to-be learn how to act socially sustainably in groups? Using practical examples, the book shows how TCI can work in higher education to achieve participation and integration, reflectivity and humane connectedness of academic teachers and students, and professional development of senior and junior academics.
