This book was released on 2005-04-01 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Nordic countries have reached a stage where the national level of development in the use of IT applications has extended to a Nordic level. This is partly a result of the Collaborative Net-work of Nordic eHealth Competence Centres, a voluntary group for experience exchange and common activities regarding ICT in healthcare. However, this Nordic co-operation needs to be strengthened and more structured, with the appropriate re-sources, legal foundation, skills and capacity, to further develop and exploit common solutions. This report is the result of a study carried out on request of the Nordic Council of Ministers, by Ministers for Social Affairs and Health. It has been carried out by the partners of the Collabora-tive Network of Nordic eHealth Competence Centres (Med-Com/Denmark, KITH/Norway, STAKES/Finland, Ministry of Health/Iceland, and Carelink/Sweden). The report describes the use of IT in health care and social services in the Nordic coun-tries. The purpose of the study is to enhance the opportunity for the Nordic countries to learn from each other and to co-operate in a larger extent.

Book Nordic eHealth Benchmarking

Download or read book Nordic eHealth Benchmarking written by Hyppönen, Hannele and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2015-06-15 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents results of the Nordic eHealth Research Network, a subgroup of the eNordic Council of Ministers Health group. The network defined and collected data for altogether 49 common eHealth indicators from the Nordic Countries. Health information was quite comprehensively electronically available from other organisations in all the Nordic countries by end of 2014. Intensity of use of nationally stored data remained low except in Denmark. Sweden had best availability of the Patient portal functionalities. Patients used patient portal functionalities rarely except in Denmark. Doctors in Iceland had most positive experiences of their health information systems. Even with limitations, the current work presents a solid basis for working towards the goal of the eHealth network: generating comparable information to support development of Nordic welfare.

Book Nordic eHealth benchmarking

Download or read book Nordic eHealth benchmarking written by Hyppönen, Hannele and published by Nordic Council of Ministers. This book was released on 2017-05-05 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report proposes a long-term management of earlier NeRN work to be utilized also in the European and OECD context, and indicators on patients and citizens' use and experiences of eHealth services. An update to prior eHealth policy analysis shows an increase on governance and stakeholder involvement in all countries. The existing NeRN indicators form a good basis for continued monitoring. Common eHealth indicators from citizens’ point of view are needed. Current Nordic citizen surveys offer a good basis for this. Decisions on governance of eHealth benchmarking work and of collaboration between several different reporting organisations are required for long-term maagement on eHealth benchmarking. With very similar eHealth policy goals, the EU, WHO, and OECD should join forces in defining common indicators to be collected nationally and reported internationally (e.g. by Eurostat).

This book was released on 2009-09-16 with total page 357 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The book is very valuable as actual information about the health systems in the Nordic countries and the changes that have been made during the last two decades. It informs well both about the similarities within the 'Nordic Health Model' and the important differences that exist between the countries." Bo Könberg, County Governor, Former Minister of Health and Social Insurance in Sweden (1991-94) "This book is a rich, interesting and very useful document. I have been looking, for example, today for precise information on political governing which is not displayed anywhere else. It will be of importance in many aspects!" Johan Calltorp MD PhD, Professor of Health Policy and Management, The Nordic School of Public Health, Gotenburg "The publishing of this book about the Nordic health care systems is a major event for those interested not only in Nordic health policy and health systems but also for everybody interested in comparative health policy and health systems. It is the first book in its kind. It covers the four 'large' Nordic countries, Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland, and does so in a very systematically comparative way. The book is well organized, covers 'everything' and is analytically sophisticated." Ole Berg, nstitute of Health Management and health economics, University of Oslo, Norway This book examines recent patterns of health reform in Nordic health care systems, and the balance between stability and change in how these systems have developed. The health systems in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland are investigated through detailed comparisons along a variety of policy-driven parameters. The following themes are explored: Politicians, patients, and professions Financing, production, and distribution The role of the primary health sector The role of public health Internal management mechanisms Impact of the European Union The book probes the impact of these topics and then contrasts the development across all four, allowing the reader to gain a sense of perspective both on the individual countries as well as on the region as a whole. The editors also explore the extent to which a Nordic Health Care Model exists, and the degree to which that model will continue to help explain the future direction of health policy-making in these four countries. An additional chapter on recent developments in Iceland completes the work. Contributors: Tinna L. Ásgeirsdóttir, Paula Blomquist, Johan Calltorp, Terje P. Hagen, Unto Häkkinen, Peter K.
