This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a single-source reference to routing algorithms for Networks-on-Chip (NoCs), as well as in-depth discussions of advanced solutions applied to current and next generation, many core NoC-based Systems-on-Chip (SoCs). After a basic introduction to the NoC design paradigm and architectures, routing algorithms for NoC architectures are presented and discussed at all abstraction levels, from the algorithmic level to actual implementation. Coverage emphasizes the role played by the routing algorithm and is organized around key problems affecting current and next generation, many-core SoCs. A selection of routing algorithms is included, specifically designed to address key issues faced by designers in the ultra-deep sub-micron (UDSM) era, including performance improvement, power, energy, and thermal issues, fault tolerance and reliability.

Book Interconnection Networks

Download or read book Interconnection Networks written by J.-C. Bermond and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-06 with total page 590 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most of the articles in this book deal with static or point-to-pointInterconnection Networks. In particular, new constructions are proposed basedon different tools from discrete mathematics. Many new records have beenestablished in the table of the maximum number of vertices of graphs withmaximum degree &Dgr; and diameter D. Properties of thesenetworks (and of more classical ones) are analyzed in many of the otherpapers. About 40% of the articles deal with fault tolerance orvulnerability properties using either combinatorial tools or probabilisticones.

Book Asynchronous On Chip Networks and Fault Tolerant Techniques

Download or read book Asynchronous On Chip Networks and Fault Tolerant Techniques written by Wei Song and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-05-10 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Asynchronous On-Chip Networks and Fault-Tolerant Techniques is the first comprehensive study of fault-tolerance and fault-caused deadlock effects in asynchronous on-chip networks, aiming to overcome these drawbacks and ensure greater reliability of applications. As a promising alternative to the widely used synchronous on-chip networks for multicore processors, asynchronous on-chip networks can be vulnerable to faults even if they can deliver the same performance with much lower energy and area compared with their synchronous counterparts – faults can not only corrupt data transmission but also cause a unique type of deadlock. By adopting a new redundant code along with a dynamic fault detection and recovery scheme, the authors demonstrate that asynchronous on-chip networks can be efficiently hardened to tolerate both transient and permanent faults and overcome fault-caused deadlocks. This book will serve as an essential guide for researchers and students studying interconnection networks, fault-tolerant computing, asynchronous system design, circuit design and on-chip networking, as well as for professionals interested in designing fault-tolerant and high-throughput asynchronous circuits.

Book Providing Fault Tolerance in Interconnection Networks for PC Clusters

Download or read book Providing Fault Tolerance in Interconnection Networks for PC Clusters written by José Miguel Montañana Aliaga and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2010-10 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Currently, clusters of PCs are considered a cost-effective alternative to large parallel computers. In these systems thousands of components are connected through high-performance interconnection networks. Among the high-performance network technologies available to build clusters, InfiniBand (IBA) has emerged as a new standard interconnect suitable for clusters. Indeed, has been adopted by many of the most powerful systems currently built (top500 list). As the number of nodes increases in these systems, the interconnection network grows accordingly. Along with the increase in components the probability of faults increases dramatically, and thus, fault tolerance in the system, in general, and in the interconnection network, in particular, becomes a necessity. Unfortunately, most of the fault-tolerant routing strategies proposed for massively parallel computers cannot be applied because routing and virtual channel transitions are deterministic in IBA, which prevent packets from avoiding the faults. This book focuses on methodologies for providing adequate levels of fault tolerance to PC clusters, specially tailored to IBA networks.

Abstract: Abstract of thesis entitled FAULT-TOLERANT ROUTING FOR UNIDIRECTIONAL NETWORKS submitted by LAM Chun Wing for the degree of Master of Philosophy at The University of Hong Kong in December 2003 Current routing protocols are based on the assumption that neighboring routers are connected by bi-directional links. However, unidirectional links are emerging in an increasing number of configurations. Current routing protocols are no longer acceptable, and protocols dealing with unidirectional links are needed. Although several studies have been conducted recently to produce pro- tocols dealing with unidirectional links, the suggested protocols exhibit either communication or space overheads, and are not adequate for the purpose. This thesis presents a distance-vector protocol for routing in networks with unidirectional links that can also handle link and node faults. Because of the unidirectional nature of the links, the design of a correct and efficient protocol for such networks is nontrivial. The proposed protocol collects "from" information from other nodes and thereby generates routing information. Updated information is multicasted to the neighborhood. Only affected entries are propagated, in order to save band- width. The storage in each node of this protocol isO(en), wheren is the number of nodes and e is the degree of a node in the network. A formal proof of the correctness of the protocol is given in the thesis. A discrete-event network simulator for network with unidirectional links (NUDLs) is implemented to evaluate the performance of the proposed proto- col. The results demonstrate that it is superior to other current distance-vector protocols for NUDLs in terms of both message complexity and message size com- plexity. The protocol also converges faster in relatively dense networks than in relatively sparse networks. DOI: 10.5353/th_b2950653 Subjects: Routers (Computer networks)

Book Multi hop Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks

Download or read book Multi hop Routing in Wireless Sensor Networks written by Shalli Rani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-09-21 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This brief provides an overview of recent developments in multi-hop routing protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). It introduces the various classifications of routing protocols and lists the pros and cons of each category, going beyond the conceptual overview of routing classifications offered in other books. Recently many researchers have proposed numerous multi-hop routing protocols and thereby created a need for a book that provides its readers with an up-to-date road map of this research paradigm. The authors present some of the most relevant results achieved by applying an algorithmic approach to the research on multi-hop routing protocols. The book covers measurements, experiences and lessons learned from the implementation of multi-hop communication prototypes. Furthermore, it describes future research challenges and as such serves as a useful guide for students and researchers alike.
