Chaque année un programme de dépistage du cancer du sein est mis en place afin de le diagnostiquer et de le traiter précocement. La prise en charge des patientes est large : chirurgie (dont la dissection des ganglions lymphatiques axillaires : ALND), chimiothérapie, radiothérapie...) Cependant, des effets secondaires peuvent apparaitre à la suite du traitement. La prise en charge d'un éventuel lymphœdème (LO) secondaire doit être entreprise pour éviter un certain nombre de complications. Objectifs : l'objectif de cette revue est d'analyser les données actuelles de la science en ce qui concerne l'apparition d'un lymphœdème secondaire chez les femmes atteintes d'un cancer du sein. Méthodologie : dans cette revue de littérature, les bases de données PubMed, The Cochrane Library et PEDro ont été utilisées. Cinq essais cliniques randomisés ont été inclus. Résultats : notre critère de jugement principal était la mesure de la circonférence du membre supérieur puis nous avons analysé la gravité des symptômes et la qualité de vie des patientes. Parmi les 551 femmes incluses, aucun résultat significatif n'a été trouvé pour le critère de jugement principal. Cependant, une diminution significative de la gravité des symptômes ainsi qu'une amélioration générale de la qualité de vie peuvent être mises en avant. Conclusion : une intervention précoce chez les femmes ayant subi une ALND ne serait pas suffisante pour limiter l'apparition d'un LO secondaire car de nombreux facteurs de risque endogènes et exogènes entrent en jeu. Cependant, une intervention précoce permettrait de limiter l'apparition des symptômes et d'améliorer la qualité de vie des patientes.
