This book was released on 1998 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LES ELEMENTS DE STRUCTURES EN BETON A HAUTE PERFORMANCE (BHP) ONT LONGTEMPS ETE CONSIDERES COMME ETANT FRAGILES. CECI RETARDE L'UTILISATION DU BHP EN ZONE SISMIQUE ET CONTRIBUE A UNE CERTAINE DEFIANCE DES INGENIEURS VIS-A-VIS DES BHP. AFIN DE COMPLETER LA BASE DE DONNEES ACTUELLE ET D'APPORTER DES ELEMENTS DE REPONSE SUR LE COMPORTEMENT DES STRUCTURES EN BHP ARME, UNE ETUDE EXPERIMENTALE A ETE REALISEE SUR 12 POTEAUX DE TAILLE REELLE EN BHP CONFINES PAR DES ETRIERS RECTANGULAIRES ET SOUMIS A UNE SOLLICITATION COMBINEE DE COMPRESSION CONSTANTE ET DE FLEXION ALTERNEE. LA RESISTANCE DU BETON UTILISE VARIAIT ENTRE 78 ET 110 MPA. L'INFLUENCE DE L'ESPACEMENT DES ETRIERS, DU TAUX DE CHARGE AXIALE, DE LA RESISTANCE EN COMPRESSION ET DE LA LIMITE ELASTIQUE DES ETRIERS ONT ETE ETUDIEES. LES RESULTATS DE CETTE ETUDE EXPERIMENTALE MONTRENT QUE LES POTEAUX SUFFISAMMENT BIEN CONFINES SE COMPORTENT DE MANIERE DUCTILE MEME SOUS FORTE CHARGE AXIALE ET QUE LES ETRIERS A HAUTE LIMITE ELASTIQUE PEUVENT S'AVERER UNE SOLUTION APPROPRIEE POUR ASSURER UNE DUCTILITE ADEQUATE AUX POTEAUX. UN MODELE DE CONFINEMENT EST PROPOSE A PARTIR DU MODELE DE CUSSON ET PAULTRE (1995), ET EST ADAPTE AUX POTEAUX EN BETON ORDINAIRE ET EN BHP CONFINE PAR DES ARMATURES A LIMITE ELASTIQUE NORMALE OU ELEVEE SOUS SOLLICITATION DE COMPRESSION ET DE FLEXION. UN MODELE DE COMPORTEMENT CYCLIQUE DES ACIERS D'ARMATURE EST PROPOSE ET UNE PROCEDURE ORIGINALE PERMETTANT DE TRAITER LA LOCALISATION OBSERVEE SUR LES POTEAUX EN FLEXION CYCLIQUE EST DEVELOPPEE. LES MODELES ET LES PROCEDURES DEVELOPPEES SONT COMPARES A UNE LARGE BASE DE DONNEES EXPERIMENTALE SUR 150 POTEAUX ET UN PONT TESTE EN PSEUDODYNAMIQUE AVEC DIVERS OUTILS NUMERIQUES.

Book On the Move

Download or read book On the Move written by Mark Breusers and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyses the complex interplay between livelihood practices in northern Burkina Faso and diverse processes of geographic mobility, among which massive migration by Moose to the south and west of the country and to the Ivory Coast. Supported by extensive ethnographic data it is demonstrated how the flexibility of land tenure arrangements allows for and is fuelled by actors geographic mobility, how the meaning of migration and the way it is embedded in social organization changed over the last century, and how differential accumulation of cattle by migrants strains relations among Moose farmers and complicates the latter relations with Fulbe herdsmen.

Book excerpt: An era has ended. The political expression that most galvanized evangelicals during the past quarter-century, the Religious Right, is fading. What's ahead is unclear. Millions of faith-based voters still exist, and they continue to care deeply about hot-button issues like abortion and gay marriage, but the shape of their future political engagement remains to be formed. Into this uncertainty, former White House insiders Michael Gerson and Peter Wehner seek to call evangelicals toward a new kind of political engagement -- a kind that is better both for the church and the country, a kind that cannot be co-opted by either political party, a kind that avoids the historic mistakes of both the Religious Left and the Religious Right. Incisive, bold, and marked equally by pragmatism and idealism, Gerson and Wehner's new book has the potential to chart a new political future not just for values voters, but for the nation as a whole.

Book Rome Eternal

Download or read book Rome Eternal written by Guy Lanoue and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What does 'Roman' mean? How does the mythical city touch people's identities, values and attitudes? In the long-established and official imaginary of the West, Rome is the citta dell'arte, the city of faith, an heirloom city inspired by the traces of ancient Empire, by the brooding aura of the Church, by Hollywood fairy-tale romance, and by the spicy tang of veiled decadence. But what of its contemporary residents? Are they now merely guides and waiters servicing throngs of tourists indifferent to the city's contemporary charms? Guy Lanoue, a former resident of Rome, explores how Romans live the modern myth of Rome Eternal. Since the 19th century, it has defined an important community, the fatherland, a home-spun society where the rules of everyday life become 'tradition': ways of eating, dressing, making and keeping friends and acquaintances, 'proper' ways of speaking and a hard to define but nonetheless tangible air of composure. Guy Lanoue is a Professor of Anthropology at the Universite de Montreal.

The book will appeal to agriculturists, animal breeders, professors, researchers, students, and translators from Croatian-, English-, French-, German-, and Romanian-speaking countries, active in their own countries or abroad. Download or read book Metamorphoses written by Emanuele Coccia and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2021-06-09 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We are all fascinated by the mystery of metamorphosis – of the caterpillar that transforms itself into a butterfly. Their bodies have almost nothing in common. They don’t share the same world: one crawls on the ground and the other flutters its wings in the air. And yet they are one and the same life. Emanuele Coccia argues that metamorphosis – the phenomenon that allows the same life to subsist in disparate bodies – is the relationship that binds all species together and unites the living with the non-living. Bacteria, viruses, fungi, plants, animals: they are all one and the same life. Each species, including the human species, is the metamorphosis of all those that preceded it – the same life, cobbling together a new body and a new form in order to exist differently. And there is no opposition between the living and the non-living: life is always the reincarnation of the non-living, a carnival of the telluric substance of a planet – the Earth – that continually draws new faces and new ways of being out of even the smallest particle of its disparate body. By highlighting what joins humans together with other forms of life, Coccia’s brilliant reflection on metamorphosis encourages us to abandon our view of the human species as static and independent and to recognize instead that we are part of a much larger and interconnected form of life.
