Book Effects of Rhizobium N and P Fertilizers on Yield of Soybean

Download or read book Effects of Rhizobium N and P Fertilizers on Yield of Soybean written by Masresha Abitew and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-06 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Owing to the rising costs of chemical fertilizers and the growing environmental concerns, there is an ever increasing interest in the role of soil microorganisms in crop nutrition and soil fertility restoration. BNF by legume plants through microbial processes ensures the greatest quantitative impact on the N cycle and has tremendous potential for the contribution of fixed N in soil and reduce the need for industrial N fertilizers. This experiment was therefore conducted with the objectives of examining the effects of Rhizobium inoculation, and N and P fertilizer application on growth, nodulation, yield and yield components of soybean. Three levels of N (0, 11.5 and 23 kg N ha-1); three levels of P (0, 23 and 46 kg P2O5 ha-1) with two levels of Rhizobium were arranged in RCBD in factorial combinations with three replications. The results showed that growth and yield potential of soybean and an increase N2 fixation can be achieved by using Rhizobium and P fertilizer with reduced level of N as starter fertilize. The results obtained in this work might have potential applications for increasing the productivity of soybean and enriching the soil with N for resource poor farmers.

Book Effects of Inoculation Nitrogen And Phosphorous on Irrigated Soybeans

Download or read book Effects of Inoculation Nitrogen And Phosphorous on Irrigated Soybeans written by Khairalseed Abdalmohsin and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2015-07-20 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Syabean is one of the fast growing item in the world trade. It contains 41% protein and 21% oil. Research on soyabean in Sudan began in the early 70, s with the intoduction of various varietes from U.S.A.Rhizobium japonicum was not deteced in Sudan soils. Inoculant was introduced from U.S.A. The objectives of this reseach are1/Too investigate the influence of inoculation on nodulation, nitrogen fixation of the soyabean plant and protein content of soyabean seed.2/To examine the effect of N and P fertilization on nodulation, N-fixation and soyabean yield. The results showed that1/The intoduced peat inoculant resluted in good nodulation and N-fixato 2/Significantly higher shoot dry matter, total N-uptake, 100 seed weight, seed yield and total crued protein were obtained from seed inoculation in comparison with uninoculated one

Book Nitrogen Fixation in Agriculture Forestry Ecology and the Environment

Download or read book Nitrogen Fixation in Agriculture Forestry Ecology and the Environment written by Dietrich Werner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-10-24 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sustainability has a major part to play in the global challenge of continued development of regions, countries, and continents all around the World and biological nitrogen fixation has a key role in this process. This volume begins with chapters specifically addressing crops of major global importance, such as soybeans, rice, and sugar cane. It continues with a second important focus, agroforestry, and describes the use and promise of both legume trees with their rhizobial symbionts and other nitrogen-fixing trees with their actinorhizal colonization. An over-arching theme of all chapters is the interaction of the plants and trees with microbes and this theme allows other aspects of soil microbiology, such as interactions with arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and the impact of soil-stress factors on biological nitrogen fixation, to be addressed. Furthermore, a link to basic science occurs through the inclusion of chapters describing the biogeochemically important nitrogen cycle and its key relationships among nitrogen fixation, nitrification, and denitrification. The volume then provides an up-to-date view of the production of microbial inocula, especially those for legume crops.

Book Symbiotic Nitrogen Fixation

Download or read book Symbiotic Nitrogen Fixation written by Rachid Serraj and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2004 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The International Workshop on Biological Nitrogen Fixation for Increased Crop Productivity, Enhanced Human Health and Sustained Soil Fertility was held in June 2002 at ENSAM-INRA, Montpellier, France. The main goal of the workshop was to define research strategies for a Challenge Program initiative on Biological Nitrogen Fixation, and develop a pre-proposal based on the concept note submitted and approved by the CGIAR iSC. More than 35 participants from various scientific disciplines, research institutions and from four different continents (Africa, Asia, Americas and Europe) attended the workshop. This book, based on the proceedings of the workshop, takes a holistic approach to harnessing legume BNF technologies, starting from a socioeconomic perspective, and progressing to agronomic and genetic options, and bringing together innovative aspects and participatory research strategies.

Book A New Technology of Deep Placement of Slow Release Nitrogen Fertilizers for Promotion of Soybean Growth and Seed Yield

Download or read book A New Technology of Deep Placement of Slow Release Nitrogen Fertilizers for Promotion of Soybean Growth and Seed Yield written by Kaushal Tewari and published by Nova Biomedical Books. This book was released on 2011 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Soybean seeds contain a large amount of protein (about 35%), and there is a significant correlation between the total amount of N accumulated in soybean plants and seed yield. Soybean utilises N from several sources, including mineralised soil organic matter, symbiotically fixed N, and N from fertiliser when applied. Soybean plants fix a large amount of N by root nodules symbiotically associated with soil bacteria called "rhizobia". However, sole N2 fixation is often insufficient to support the vigorous vegetative and reproductive growth of soybean plants. For the maximum yield of soybean, it is necessary to use both N2 fixation by root nodules and nitrogen absorption from roots. This book introduces the promotive effects of deep placement of slow release N fertilisers on growth, N2 fixation activity and seed yield of soybean cultivated in some rotated paddy fields of Niigata prefecture, Japan, including rotated paddy fields and upland fields.
