Book Nonlinear Stochastic Systems with Incomplete Information

Download or read book Nonlinear Stochastic Systems with Incomplete Information written by Bo Shen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-01-06 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Stochastic Processes addresses the frequently-encountered problem of incomplete information. The causes of this problem considered here include: missing measurements; sensor delays and saturation; quantization effects; and signal sampling. Divided into three parts, the text begins with a focus on H∞ filtering and control problems associated with general classes of nonlinear stochastic discrete-time systems. Filtering problems are considered in the second part, and in the third the theory and techniques previously developed are applied to the solution of issues arising in complex networks with the design of sampled-data-based controllers and filters. Among its highlights, the text provides: • a unified framework for filtering and control problems in complex communication networks with limited bandwidth; • new concepts such as random sensor and signal saturations for more realistic modeling; and • demonstration of the use of techniques such as the Hamilton–Jacobi–Isaacs, difference linear matrix, and parameter-dependent matrix inequalities and sums of squares to handle the computational challenges inherent in these systems. The collection of recent research results presented in Nonlinear Stochastic Processes will be of interest to academic researchers in control and signal processing. Graduate students working with communication networks with lossy information and control of stochastic systems will also benefit from reading the book.

Book Quantization Noise

Download or read book Quantization Noise written by Bernard Widrow and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2008-07-03 with total page 752 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you are working in digital signal processing, control or numerical analysis, you will find this authoritative analysis of quantization noise (roundoff error) invaluable. Do you know where the theory of quantization noise comes from, and under what circumstances it is true? Get answers to these and other important practical questions from expert authors, including the founder of the field and formulator of the theory of quantization noise, Bernard Widrow. The authors describe and analyze uniform quantization, floating-point quantization, and their applications in detail. Key features include: • Analysis of floating point round off • Dither techniques and implementation issues analyzed • Offers heuristic explanations along with rigorous proofs, making it easy to understand 'why' before the mathematical proof is given.

Book Limits of Stability and Stabilization of Time Delay Systems

Download or read book Limits of Stability and Stabilization of Time Delay Systems written by Jing Zhu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-02-05 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This authored monograph presents a study on fundamental limits and robustness of stability and stabilization of time-delay systems, with an emphasis on time-varying delay, robust stabilization, and newly emerged areas such as networked control and multi-agent systems. The authors systematically develop an operator-theoretic approach that departs from both the traditional algebraic approach and the currently pervasive LMI solution methods. This approach is built on the classical small-gain theorem, which enables the author to draw upon powerful tools and techniques from robust control theory. The book contains motivating examples and presents mathematical key facts that are required in the subsequent sections. The target audience primarily comprises researchers and professionals in the field of control theory, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students alike.

Book Recent Advances in Control and Filtering of Dynamic Systems with Constrained Signals

Download or read book Recent Advances in Control and Filtering of Dynamic Systems with Constrained Signals written by Ju H. Park and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-09 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the principle theories and applications of control and filtering problems to address emerging hot topics in feedback systems. With the development of IT technology at the core of the 4th industrial revolution, dynamic systems are becoming more sophisticated, networked, and advanced to achieve even better performance. However, this evolutionary advance in dynamic systems also leads to unavoidable constraints. In particular, such elements in control systems involve uncertainties, communication/transmission delays, external noise, sensor faults and failures, data packet dropouts, sampling and quantization errors, and switching phenomena, which have serious effects on the system’s stability and performance. This book discusses how to deal with such constraints to guarantee the system’s design objectives, focusing on real-world dynamical systems such as Markovian jump systems, networked control systems, neural networks, and complex networks, which have recently excited considerable attention. It also provides a number of practical examples to show the applicability of the presented methods and techniques. This book is of interest to graduate students, researchers and professors, as well as R&D engineers involved in control theory and applications looking to analyze dynamical systems with constraints and to synthesize various types of corresponding controllers and filters for optimal performance of feedback systems.

Book Optimal Networked Control Systems with MATLAB

Download or read book Optimal Networked Control Systems with MATLAB written by Jagannathan Sarangapani and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimal Networked Control Systems with MATLAB® discusses optimal controller design in discrete time for networked control systems (NCS). The authors apply several powerful modern control techniques in discrete time to the design of intelligent controllers for such NCS. Detailed derivations, rigorous stability proofs, computer simulation examples, and downloadable MATLAB® codes are included for each case. The book begins by providing background on NCS, networked imperfections, dynamical systems, stability theory, and stochastic optimal adaptive controllers in discrete time for linear and nonlinear systems. It lays the foundation for reinforcement learning-based optimal adaptive controller use for finite and infinite horizons. The text then: Introduces quantization effects for linear and nonlinear NCS, describing the design of stochastic adaptive controllers for a class of linear and nonlinear systems Presents two-player zero-sum game-theoretic formulation for linear systems in input–output form enclosed by a communication network Addresses the stochastic optimal control of nonlinear NCS by using neuro dynamic programming Explores stochastic optimal design for nonlinear two-player zero-sum games under communication constraints Treats an event-sampled distributed NCS to minimize transmission of state and control signals within the feedback loop via the communication network Covers distributed joint optimal network scheduling and control design for wireless NCS, as well as the effect of network protocols on the wireless NCS controller design An ideal reference for graduate students, university researchers, and practicing engineers, Optimal Networked Control Systems with MATLAB® instills a solid understanding of neural network controllers and how to build them.

Book Switching and Learning in Feedback Systems

Download or read book Switching and Learning in Feedback Systems written by Roderick Murray-Smith and published by Springer. This book was released on 2005-01-27 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A central theme in the study of dynamic systems is the modelling and control of uncertain systems. While ‘uncertainty’ has long been a strong motivating factor behind many techniques developed in the modelling, control, statistics and mathematics communities, the past decade, in particular, has witnessed remarkable progress in this area with the emergence of a number of powerful newmethodsforbothmodellingandcontrollinguncertaindynamicsystems. The speci?c objective of this book is to describe and review some of these exciting new approaches within a single volume. Our approach was to invite some of the leading researchers in this area to contribute to this book by submitting both tutorial papers on their speci?c area of research, and to submit more focussed research papers to document some of the latest results in the area. We feel that collecting some of the main results together in this manner is particularly important as many of the important ideas that emerged in the past decade were derived in a variety of academic disciplines. By providing both tutorial and researchpaperswehopetobeabletoprovidetheinterestedreaderwithsu?cient background to appreciate some of the main concepts from a variety of related, but nevertheless distinct ?elds, and to provide a ?avor of how these results are currently being used to cope with ‘uncertainty. ’ It is our sincere hope that the availability of these results within a single volume will lead to further cro- fertilization of ideas and act as a spark for further research in this important area of applied mathematics.
