Download or read book Nonlinear Stochastic Systems with Incomplete Information written by Bo Shen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-01-06 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonlinear Stochastic Processes addresses the frequently-encountered problem of incomplete information. The causes of this problem considered here include: missing measurements; sensor delays and saturation; quantization effects; and signal sampling. Divided into three parts, the text begins with a focus on H∞ filtering and control problems associated with general classes of nonlinear stochastic discrete-time systems. Filtering problems are considered in the second part, and in the third the theory and techniques previously developed are applied to the solution of issues arising in complex networks with the design of sampled-data-based controllers and filters. Among its highlights, the text provides: • a unified framework for filtering and control problems in complex communication networks with limited bandwidth; • new concepts such as random sensor and signal saturations for more realistic modeling; and • demonstration of the use of techniques such as the Hamilton–Jacobi–Isaacs, difference linear matrix, and parameter-dependent matrix inequalities and sums of squares to handle the computational challenges inherent in these systems. The collection of recent research results presented in Nonlinear Stochastic Processes will be of interest to academic researchers in control and signal processing. Graduate students working with communication networks with lossy information and control of stochastic systems will also benefit from reading the book.

Download or read book Investigation of Numerical Techniques as Applied to Digital Flight Control Systems written by J. W. Hung and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report describes analytical techniques applicable to the design of on-line digital control systems and analysis of real-time hybrid simulations. Emphasis is placed on an operational mathematics approach using state variables and signal flow mapping techniques to facilitate stability analysis and accurate interpretation of results in terms of concepts familiar to Control Engineers. Digital simulation of a fourth-order pitch rate flight control system is included. A technique for analysis of nonlinear digital systems employing Lyapunov's Second Method is presented. Predictor-corrector methods for first-order and higher-order differential equations are discussed. Error analysis techniques are included with special attention given to quantization errors. A system synthesis technique employing constraint equations for determination of control system design parameter values is developed.
Download or read book Nonlinear Stochastic Systems with Network Induced Phenomena written by Jun Hu and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-07-21 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph introduces methods for handling filtering and control problems in nonlinear stochastic systems arising from network-induced phenomena consequent on limited communication capacity. Such phenomena include communication delay, packet dropout, signal quantization or saturation, randomly occurring nonlinearities and randomly occurring uncertainties. The text is self-contained, beginning with an introduction to nonlinear stochastic systems, network-induced phenomena and filtering and control, moving through a collection of the latest research results which focuses on the three aspects of: · the state-of-the-art of nonlinear filtering and control; · recent advances in recursive filtering and sliding mode control; and · their potential for application in networked control systems, and concluding with some ideas for future research work. New concepts such as the randomly occurring uncertainty and the probability-constrained performance index are proposed to make the network models as realistic as possible. The power of combinations of such recent tools as the completing-the-square and sums-of-squares techniques, Hamilton‒Jacobi‒Isaacs matrix inequalities, difference linear matrix inequalities and parameter-dependent matrix inequalities is exploited in treating the mathematical and computational challenges arising from nonlinearity and stochasticity. Nonlinear Stochastic Systems with Network-Induced Phenomena establishes a unified framework of control and filtering which will be of value to academic researchers in bringing structure to problems associated with an important class of networked system and offering new means of solving them. The significance of the new concepts, models and methods presented for practical control engineering and signal processing will also make it a valuable reference for engineers dealing with nonlinear control and filtering problems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you are working in digital signal processing, control or numerical analysis, you will find this authoritative analysis of quantization noise (roundoff error) invaluable. Do you know where the theory of quantization noise comes from, and under what circumstances it is true? Get answers to these and other important practical questions from expert authors, including the founder of the field and formulator of the theory of quantization noise, Bernard Widrow. The authors describe and analyze uniform quantization, floating-point quantization, and their applications in detail. Key features include: • Analysis of floating point round off • Dither techniques and implementation issues analyzed • Offers heuristic explanations along with rigorous proofs, making it easy to understand 'why' before the mathematical proof is given.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this new edition of the Handbook of Signal Processing Systems, many of the chapters from the previous editions have been updated, and several new chapters have been added. The new contributions include chapters on signal processing methods for light field displays, throughput analysis of dataflow graphs, modeling for reconfigurable signal processing systems, fast Fourier transform architectures, deep neural networks, programmable architectures for histogram of oriented gradients processing, high dynamic range video coding, system-on-chip architectures for data analytics, analysis of finite word-length effects in fixed-point systems, and models of architecture. There are more than 700 tables and illustrations; in this edition over 300 are in color. This new edition of the handbook is organized in three parts. Part I motivates representative applications that drive and apply state-of-the art methods for design and implementation of signal processing systems; Part II discusses architectures for implementing these applications; and Part III focuses on compilers, as well as models of computation and their associated design tools and methodologies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A central theme in the study of dynamic systems is the modelling and control of uncertain systems. While ‘uncertainty’ has long been a strong motivating factor behind many techniques developed in the modelling, control, statistics and mathematics communities, the past decade, in particular, has witnessed remarkable progress in this area with the emergence of a number of powerful newmethodsforbothmodellingandcontrollinguncertaindynamicsystems. The speci?c objective of this book is to describe and review some of these exciting new approaches within a single volume. Our approach was to invite some of the leading researchers in this area to contribute to this book by submitting both tutorial papers on their speci?c area of research, and to submit more focussed research papers to document some of the latest results in the area. We feel that collecting some of the main results together in this manner is particularly important as many of the important ideas that emerged in the past decade were derived in a variety of academic disciplines. By providing both tutorial and researchpaperswehopetobeabletoprovidetheinterestedreaderwithsu?cient background to appreciate some of the main concepts from a variety of related, but nevertheless distinct ?elds, and to provide a ?avor of how these results are currently being used to cope with ‘uncertainty. ’ It is our sincere hope that the availability of these results within a single volume will lead to further cro- fertilization of ideas and act as a spark for further research in this important area of applied mathematics.
