Download or read book Effects of Gasoline Removal on the Heating Value of Natural Gas Classic Reprint written by Donald B. Dow and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-04 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Effects of Gasoline Removal on the Heating Value of Natural Gas In the hope that this uncertainty may be removed the Bureau of Mines has made a comprehensive investigation of the problem through its petroleum station at Bartlesville, Okla. The natural gas examined included gas being treated at gasoline plants in many different fields, not only dry gas treated by absorption, but also rich casing-head gas treated by this method, in order that defi nite information might be available as to the effect of recovering gasoline from natural gas of varying richness and from different localities. The results of the investigation are presented in this report. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Energy Systems

Download or read book Energy Systems written by Nick Jenkins and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2020-02 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern societies require energy systems to provide energy for cooking, heating, transport, and materials processing, as well as for electricity generation. Energy systems include the primary fuel, its conversion, and transport to the point of use. In many cases this primary fuel is still a fossil fuel, a one-use resource derived from a finite supply within our planet, causing considerable damage to the environment. After 300 years of increasing reliance on fossil fuels, particularly coal, it is becoming ever clearer that the present energy systems need to change. In this Very Short Introduction Nick Jenkins explores our historic investment in the exploitation of fossil energy resources and their current importance, and discusses the implications of our increasing rate of energy use. He considers the widespread acceptance by scientists and policy makers that our energy systems must reduce emissions of CO2 and other greenhouse gases, and looks forward to the radical changes in fuel technology that will be necessary to continue to provide energy supplies in a sustainable manner, and extend access across the developing world. Considering the impact of changing to an environmentally benign and low-carbon energy system, Jenkins also looks at future low-carbon energy systems which would use electricity from a variety of renewable energy sources, as well as the role of nuclear power in our energy use. ABOUT THE SERIES: The Very Short Introductions series from Oxford University Press contains hundreds of titles in almost every subject area. These pocket-sized books are the perfect way to get ahead in a new subject quickly. Our expert authors combine facts, analysis, perspective, new ideas, and enthusiasm to make interesting and challenging topics highly readable.

Download or read book The Accurate Determination of the Gasoline Content of Natural Gas and the Analytical Separation of Natural Gases by Isothermal Fractional Distillation Classic Reprint written by Martin Shepherd and published by . This book was released on 2016-06-25 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Accurate Determination of the Gasoline Content of Natural Gas and the Analytical Separation of Natural Gases by Isothermal Fractional Distillation The Natural Gas Association of America recognized this discordant state and appointed a committee to study the problem and formulate standard methods of test. The committee's investigation led to a partial and tentative standardization of the three methods already mentioned2 and a critical study of their accuracy which the present paper will report in part. This study has clearly shown the need of a reference or umpire method for the determination of natural gasoline. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Comparative Values of Alcohol and Gasoline for Light and Power The possible advantages of combination in the lumber indus try have been indicated above, and certainly they must be given due consideration. Whether these advantages are so great, however, and whether their preservation is a matter of much importance as to justify the Government in abandoning its present policy, to embark upon a wholly untried scheme of price regulation, is quite another question. Book Gas Engineering

Download or read book Gas Engineering written by James G. Speight and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-05-08 with total page 474 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This 3rd volume of 'Gas Engineering' introduces the concept of liquefied natural gas and the concept gas-to-liquids and also presents a review of the uses of gas streams and the effects of the various gases on the environment. This volume also describes the properties gas streams as they are related to corrosion effects are also presented. The relationship of the properties of gas streams as they affect corrosion such as carburization and metal dusting as well as corrosion in steel and other materials used in refinery technology are also presented and the book summarizes key findings into corrosion processes in gas-processing equipment as well as corrosion in offshore structures. Each book contains references at the end of chapter which include information from the open literature and meeting proceedings to give a picture of where the gas processing technology stands as well as indicate some relatively new technologies that could become important in the future. Also, each book also contains a comprehensive glossary. The books are written in an easy-to-read style and offer a ready-at-hand (one-stop-shopping) guide to the many issues that are related to the engineering aspects of the properties and processing of natural gas as well as the effects of natural gas on various ecosystems as well as to pollutant mitigation and clean-up. The books present an overview, with a considerable degree of detail of the various aspects of natural gas technology. Any chemistry presented in the books is used as a means of explanation of a particular point but is maintained at an elementary level.
