Book RC Elements Under Cyclic Loading

Download or read book RC Elements Under Cyclic Loading written by Comité euro-international du béton and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 1996 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text provides a review of relevant knowledge in the area of constitutive modelling of concrete steel bonds and their interaction. It discusses the problems encountered in assembling the various elements with the purpose of constructing the model of an element made of reinforced concrete. Whether physically or empirically based, very simple or sophisticated, long-established or brand new, the models presented in this book are produced in as rational a framework as possible, and are accompanied by comments on their advantages and limitations.

Book Moment rotation Response of Partially Prestressed Concrete Beam column Joints Under Cyclic Excitations

Download or read book Moment rotation Response of Partially Prestressed Concrete Beam column Joints Under Cyclic Excitations written by Mazin Hamdi Umari and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study presents an analytical model for predicting moment-deformation relationships of partially prestressed concrete joints under generalized load excitations. The proposed joint model comprises three interrelated integral parts: 1) The material constitutive relations, 2) The slip model and 3) The non linear analysis. In the first part, the stress-strain relationships used in the non linear analysis to characterize the behavior of concrete and reinforcing steel under cyclic loading were introduced. A new model for predicting the stress-strain relationship of prestressing steel under cyclic loading was also introduced. The model showed very good agreement with experimentally observed results. In the second part, a slip model, based on a linear relationship between local bond stress and slip, was proposed. Using this model, it was possible to find steel stress, steel strain, bond stress and slip distributions along the bar anchorage length. In addition to its tremendous efficiency in computation, the proposed slip model proved to be accurate when compared with experimentally observed results and also retained most of the accuracy of finite element predictions. The above mentioned parts were combined and implemented in a computer program which, when given proper input, can produce moment-deformation relationship of partially prestressed joints. A parametric evaluation was undertaken on two interior and one exterior typical partially prestressed concrete joints. The proposed joint model provided satisfactory analytical results which are compatible with well established facts pertaining to hysteretic behavior of partially prestressed concrete joints Also, results of the proposed joint model proved to be in good agreement with available experimental results.

Book Modeling Bond slip Deformations in Reinforce Concrete Beam column Joints

Download or read book Modeling Bond slip Deformations in Reinforce Concrete Beam column Joints written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new finite element model for reinforced concrete beam-column joints is proposed. The model considers the effects of bond-slip and shear deformations in the joint panel region. The problems associated with modeling bond-slip of anchored reinforcing bars are discussed. The proposed bond-slip model is examined at the element level by comparing its predictions with other analytical and experimental results. The ability of the model to simulate bond deterioration and eventual pullout of anchored reinforcing bars under severe cyclic excitation is demonstrated. This model is incorporated into the global beam-column joint element. Further comparisons are made between the predictions of the proposed beam-column joint model and other analytical and experimental results under reversed cyclic loading to show the validity of the model to describe the bond-slip behavior of the joints.
