Book A Study on Evaluating the Effectiveness of Training in Public Sector Bank

Download or read book A Study on Evaluating the Effectiveness of Training in Public Sector Bank written by Veenu Arora and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To assume a leadership position in the market space, an organization will need to emphasize on the kind of programs they use to improvise performance and productivity and not just how much they simply spend on learning. Training needs identification, therefore it identifies the gap between what the job expects an employee to do, on the one hand, and what the employee is actually doing, on the other. The training needs analysis discovers whether there is a discrepancy between what an employee ought to be doing and what he or she can do. Learning is a continuous process, and even if employees are the best, they still need to refresh and renew themselves with the latest technologies and trends. After globalization and privatization, a lot of competition exists between banks -- both in public and private sector -- compelling quick and efficient services reinforced by innovative products and services. This development opened up the need for training to the bank employees to adapt to changes and contribute towards efficient service to customers. Banks also use training to improve the ability of their employees for customer satisfaction as a primary goal. Banks consider that giving emphasis on training is the best way to expand productivity. In connection with the above, the present paper aims to investigate the differential changes in public sector bank in their purposes of conducting training, basis for training needs identification and design and implementation of training programs. The study makes an effort to assess the training and development practices in a public sector bank (SBI) with special reference to its impact on employee effectiveness.

Book Effectiveness of Training Need Assessment TNA Practices in Private Sector Banks of Bangladesh

Download or read book Effectiveness of Training Need Assessment TNA Practices in Private Sector Banks of Bangladesh written by Shahin Akther and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Training Need Assessment (TNA) is a process to identify the gap between current performance and the departmental objectives. It's a diagnostic tool that helps reducing the gap between employee skills and the skills required by the job. Effective training need assessment forms the basis or benchmark for determining the effectiveness of the training programs. This study aims at identifying the effectiveness of TNA practices of the private sector banks of Bangladesh. As the respondents are highly qualified and work directly in the HR and Training Departments of the banks, a sample size of 100 was deemed appropriate for this study. The respondent managers were chosen by using convenience sampling method. A structured questionnaire was developed to collect the pertinent information from the HR and Training Managers of 10 leading private sector banks of Bangladesh. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Results show that the reasons for declining the performance of the bankers are directly concerned with the lack of positive attitude toward job, lack of motivation and dissatisfaction about the job. Results also show that only few need assessment techniques such as, management audit, interview customers and employees, written tests, assessment centre, survey, and individual development plans are used by the banks to assess the training needs in Bangladesh. This study also identified unavailability of training programs, location of training venue, lack of managerial support, capacity of the trainees, budget of the training, and the length of training programs are the most important hindrances for improving the effectiveness of the training programs of the banks. It is suggested that the effectiveness of TNA and training programs can be increased by improving training environment, managing organization, service quality, time management, leadership, and increase budgets of the training programs of the private sector banks in Bangladesh.

This book was released on 2011-09 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main purpose of this study is to find out how a training program can be evaluated from the perspectives of the employees. The literature reviewed highlighted that the effectiveness of a training program can be fairly measured by comparing pre-training expectations with post -training experience. It examines the effectiveness of a training program offered to 108 trainees of a leading private sector bank .The data was extracted from the employees through a questionnaire based on Kirkpatrick's model of training evaluation. A chi-square test revealed that the demographic variables are independent of the efficacy gap. A paired sample t- test was conducted and it has been concluded that the trainees did not find the program effective. The factor analysis indicates that the grouping of the variables into factors fairly matches with the Kirkpatrick's model of training evaluation with certain exceptions. Finally, a multiple regression analysis was conducted which revealed that the factors extracted in factor analysis are significant in explaining training effectiveness.

Book Training and the Private Sector

Download or read book Training and the Private Sector written by Lisa M. Lynch and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2007-12-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can today's workforce keep pace with an increasingly competitive global economy? As new technologies rapidly transform the workplace, employee requirements are changing and workers must adapt to different working conditions. This volume compares new evidence on the returns from worker training in the United States, Germany, France, Britain, Japan, Norway, and the Netherlands. The authors focus on Germany's widespread, formal apprenticeship programs; the U.S. system of learning-by-doing; Japan's low employee turnover and extensive company training; and Britain's government-led and school-based training schemes. The evidence shows that, overall, training in the workplace is more effective than training in schools. Moreover, even when U.S. firms spend as much on training as other countries do, their employees may still be less skilled than workers in Europe or Japan. Training and the Private Sector points to training programs in Germany, Japan, and other developed countries as models for creating a workforce in the United States that can compete more successfully in today's economy.

This book was released on 2013-07-17 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Given the labor market challenges that countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region are facing (notably high unemployment, prevalence of skills mismatches, low labor market mobility, and lack of formal employment networks), employment services could be a relevant policy instrument to assist unemployed individuals to find jobs. Despite high and increasing unemployment rates, employers in the region are facing difficulties to find workers whose competences and skills fit their employment needs. The study first surveys international best practices for the delivery of employment services and then reviews the provision of these services in a selected group of countries in the MENA region, with a focus on public provision through existing public employment agencies. Findings indicate public agencies in the region face many challenges for the effective delivery of employment programs, namely poor administrative capacity, system fragmentation, lack of governance and accountability, regulation bottlenecks, and flaws in program design. In order to help unemployed workers to obtain the competences required by available jobs, this study proposes a reform agenda based on the development of strong partnerships between public agencies, public providers, and employers for the design and implementation of flexible employment programs that respond to real employment needs. These partnershipss will need to be developed with strong governance mechanisms that make beneficiaries, private providers, and firms accountable for making sure that investments in employment programs lead to employment insertion. The book is directed to policy makers, practitioners, economists, and anyone interested in international best practices to promote a more effective delivery of employment services.
