Accessible for even teachers with limited computer knowledge teachers are provided with a ten-step NTeQ (iNtegrating Technology for inQuiry) model for developing and implementing integrated lesson plans. Word processing, spreadsheets, databases, publishing software, the Internet, and educational software are all explored, with the goal of demonstrating how to determine whether or not computers should be used and how best to use them. Helping teachers connect what they are learning to their daily planning and instruction the content within each chapter is also aligned with the new ISTE National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S) and Teachers (NETS-T), revised in 2007 and 2008, respectively. A new feature throughout the book, The Teacher Diary, documents teacher experiences as they incorporate the NTeQ model in the classroom. The popular NTeQ Lesson Plans have also been expanded to be included in Chapters 7-11.

Book Evaluating Computer Integration in the Elementary School

Download or read book Evaluating Computer Integration in the Elementary School written by Richard Mowe and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This handbook was written to enable elementary school educators to conduct formative evaluations of their computer integrated instruction (CII) programs in minimum time. The first chapter provides an overview of computer education and program evaluation, and the second covers planning for evaluation. The third chapter explains how to collect the data to describe the existing CII program. Interpreting the data and answering evaluation questions are covered in the fourth chapter. Finally, the presentation of the evaluation report is discussed in chapter 5. Appendices include copies of questionnaires for seven facets of the integration program, i.e., planning, program description, goals, staff, plans, activity implementation and goal attainment, and strengths and weaknesses. Also appended are a summary of the research procedures and results upon which this handbook is based. The handbook is intended for use by both experienced and inexperienced evaluators to improve an existing CII program and no formal knowledge of program evaluation is required. (DB)
