Book Integrated Sand Management For Effective Hydrocarbon Flow Assurance

Download or read book Integrated Sand Management For Effective Hydrocarbon Flow Assurance written by and published by Newnes. This book was released on 2015-06-15 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook provides solutions to the fundamental issues associated with wells and reservoirs experiencing sanding problems, especially in deepwater environments. Sand Management is a massive challenge for the petroleum industry as it extends its exploration activities to new frontiers. Challenging ultra deepwater, High Pressure-High Temperature (HP-HT) and Arctic environments require engineers to drill more complex wells and manage more complex reservoirs, the majority of which are prone to massive sand production. Covering such fundamentals as how to maximize individual wells and field development performance, as well as how to minimize operational cost, non-productive time and guarantee flow assurance across the entire composite production system from reservoirs through the wellbore to the topside and flow lines, this handbook explains that the biggest challenge facing operators is the shortage of sand management personnel and helps companies realize the value of their assets. Reference for knowledge transfer and skills development in sand management for effective flow assurance Emphasis on HP-HT and deepwater environments Meets the needs of new and practising engineers alike as well as non-technical personnel supporting the offshore industry

Book Hydrocarbon Control Strategies for Gasoline Marketing Operations

Download or read book Hydrocarbon Control Strategies for Gasoline Marketing Operations written by R. L. Norton and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This informational document provides basic and current descriptions of gasoline marketing operations and methods that are available to control hydrocarbon emissions from these operations. The three types of facilities that are described are terminals, bulk plants, and service stations. Operational and business trends are also discussed. Emissions from typical facilities, including transport trucks, are estimated. The operations which lead to emissions from these facilities include (1) gasoline storage, (2) gasoline loading at terminal and bulk plants, (3) gasoline delivery to bulk plants and service stations, and (4) the refueling of vehicles at service stations. Available and possible methods for controlling emissions are described with their estimated control efficiencies and costs. The costs for control of a unit weight of hydrocarbon are calculated from these estimates. This report also includes a bibliograpy of references cited in the text, and supplementary sources of information.

Book Onshore Unconventional Hydrocarbon Development

Download or read book Onshore Unconventional Hydrocarbon Development written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2018-07-23 with total page 101 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Oil and gas well completion and stimulation technologies to develop unconventional hydrocarbon resources in the United States have evolved over the past several decades, particularly in relation to the development of shale oil and shale gas. Shale oil and shale gas resources and the technology associated with their production are often termed "unconventional" because the oil and gas trapped inside the shale or other low-permeability rock formation cannot be extracted using conventional technologies. Since about 2005, the application of these technologies to fields in the U.S. have helped produce natural gas and oil in volumes that allowed the country to reduce its crude oil imports by more than 50% and to become a net natural gas exporter. The regional and national economic and energy advances gained through production and use of these resources have been accompanied, however, by rapid expansion of the infrastructure associated with the development of these fields and public concern over the impacts to surface- and groundwater, air, land, and communities where the resources are extracted. The intent of the first day of the workshop of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine's Roundtable on Unconventional Hydrocarbon Development was to discuss onshore unconventional hydrocarbon development in the context of potential environmental impacts and the ways in which the risks of these kinds of impacts can be managed. Specifically, the workshop sought to examine the lifecycle development of these fields, including decommissioning and reclamation of wells and related surface and pipeline infrastructure, and the approaches from industry practice, scientific research, and regulation that could help to ensure management of the operations in ways that minimize impacts to the environment throughout their active lifetimes and after operations have ceased. This publication summarizes the presentations and discussions from the workshop.

Book Corrosion Control in the Oil and Gas Industry

Download or read book Corrosion Control in the Oil and Gas Industry written by Sankara Papavinasam and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-15 with total page 1021 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of corrosion in the oil industry leads to the failure of parts. This failure results in shutting down the plant to clean the facility. The annual cost of corrosion to the oil and gas industry in the United States alone is estimated at $27 billion (According to NACE International)—leading some to estimate the global annual cost to the oil and gas industry as exceeding $60 billion. In addition, corrosion commonly causes serious environmental problems, such as spills and releases. An essential resource for all those who are involved in the corrosion management of oil and gas infrastructure, Corrosion Control in the Oil and Gas Industry provides engineers and designers with the tools and methods to design and implement comprehensive corrosion-management programs for oil and gas infrastructures. The book addresses all segments of the industry, including production, transmission, storage, refining and distribution. Selects cost-effective methods to control corrosion Quantitatively measures and estimates corrosion rates Treats oil and gas infrastructures as systems in order to avoid the impacts that changes to one segment if a corrosion management program may have on others Provides a gateway to more than 1,000 industry best practices and international standards

Book Advances in the Characterisation and Remediation of Sites Contaminated with Petroleum Hydrocarbons

Download or read book Advances in the Characterisation and Remediation of Sites Contaminated with Petroleum Hydrocarbons written by Jonás García-Rincón and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-11-22 with total page 677 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access book synthesizes important advances in the assessment and management of soil and groundwater systems contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons, especially in the form of light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPLs). LNAPL characterization and remediation is challenging due to the multi-phase, multi-component nature of the problem and the various physical, chemical, and biological processes involved in a dynamic and heterogeneous hydrogeological setting. This book focuses on the current state of practice of LNAPL characterization and remediation and seeks to provide information and a framework that would allow some of these complexities to be better addressed by contaminated land practitioners, researchers, and regulators.
