This book was released on 2012 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The research was about the synthesis of active and selective for syngas processing via Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) producing clean and best fuel. A series of 20 wt. % cobalt catalysts be prepared by impregnation of a mesoporous molecular sieve based on silica as 75 wt. % of cobalt catalytic supporters (SBA-15, TiO and CabO-Sil) with 5 wt. % Zn promoter for comparison purposes. All materials used characterizing by several analysis equipments which are SEM, TGA and FTIR. The characterization results achieve gave a great influence of mesoporous support porosity on the structure, reducibility of cobalt oxide species supported over the selected materials. Firstly, the experiment was started from the synthesis of SBA-15. TiO2 and Cab-O-Sil are commercialized support. Then, the silica as cobalt supporters were synthesized by incipient wetness impregnation method of using mixture of Cobalt (II) Nitrate and Zinc Nitrate Hexahydrate solution. Next, the prepared catalysts were calcined at 350°C for 6 h by increasing the temperature at a controlled heating rate of 2°C/min. The characterization of catalysts and catalyst studies was performed. The result from experiment was SBA-15 supporter shown the better result compared to other samples as the microscopic size captured by SEM equipment prove that SBA-15 had smoothest and smallest of mesoporous surface size. The result from FTIR showed that the peak at around 3,440 cm-1 have the hydroxyl groups and about 1,630 cm -12 is due to the bending vibrations of O-H bonds that the percentage reflectance of O-H bonds which indicates the SBA-15 can effectively restrain the loss of surface hydroxyl groups during calcinations. The peak around 1000-1200 cm1 can be assigned to the siloxane or Si-O-Si stretching bands; peak appears as a broad and strong peaking the sample. Lastly, TGA result showed that SBA-15 can help the catalyst samples restrained more water content in the evaporation process and had high thermal stability that can prolong life at high temperature and high pressure in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. The new silica as cobalt supporter will be developed to enhance the performance of the best and clean fuel production. This research hopefully can be carried out successful in order to get the new invention for production of catalyst that will produce the best and clean fuel and to get rid of exceed cost of production but in the same quality of expensive product.

Download or read book Synthesis and Characterization of Cobalt Supported TiO2 with Mn Zn Zr Promoters for Fischer Tropsch Synthesis written by Mohamad Firdaus Mohamad Ghazali and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research about the synthesis and characterization cobalt supported TiO2 catalyst for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS) producing clean and best fuel. In variety of type of promoters, the effect is determined. The catalytic material will be prepared by impregnation of a mesoporous molecular sieve based on silica which is TiO2 as cobalt catalytic supporters and Zn/Zr/Mn as promoters for comparison purposes. All materials will be used characterizing by several physico-chemical techniques such as SEM, , TGA, FTIR. The catalytic and characterization results achieve give a great influence of mesoporous support porosity on the structure, reducibility and Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalytic behavior of cobalt oxide species supported over these ordered materials. The size of supported cobalt oxide species formed during the calcination step increased with the average pore size (Dp) of the mesoporous support. Thus, the catalyst with larger Co oxide species located in wide pore silica showed to be easily reducible, more active and very selective toward the fuel fraction. The additional of promoters will be used to increase the performances of Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.

Book Cobalt Nanoparticles for Fischer Tropsch Synthesis

Download or read book Cobalt Nanoparticles for Fischer Tropsch Synthesis written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synthesis of Functionalised Mesoporous Silica for Capture and Transformation of Carbon Dioxide

Download or read book Synthesis of Functionalised Mesoporous Silica for Capture and Transformation of Carbon Dioxide written by Maria Zakharova and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nowadays over 80% of the chemical industry is based on heterogeneous catalytic processes supplying us with energy, aliments, medicines, crop protection, and new commodities. Even though catalysis remains a strategic field of chemistry, the level of understanding of heterogeneous catalysis is still quite limited, especially when compared to that of homogeneous catalysis. In the present work, we try to expand the knowledge of heterogeneous catalytic systems based on functionalized hybrid mesoporous silica and probe them in different green chemistry processes, especially in relation to the capture and transformation of CO2. For CO2 capture, the well-known concept of frustrated Lewis pairs is translated on the surface of mesoporous silica, resulting in the synthesis of stable heterogenized Lewis acid-base pairs. Firstly, the synthesis of Al-, Ti-, Zr-SBA-15 mesoporous silica carrying very strong Lewis acidic character through the reaction of surface silanol groups with homogeneous metallic complexes is presented. The ability of these materials to catalyse the direct amidation of electron-poor and bulky amines supports the presence of highly active Lewis acidic metallic centers and their water-tolerance. Furthermore, the development of solid supported frustrated Lewis pairs (sFLPs) using Al-, Ti-, Zr-SBA-15 mesoporous silica is discussed. A series of conventional Lewis bases, such as diethylenetriamine, diphenylphosphine derivatives, triethylamine, and tetramethylpiperidine are grafted or impregnated on the surface of Ti-, Al-, Zr-SBA-15 to generate air-stable solid-supported Lewis acid-base pairs. The preservation of both Lewis acidic and basic properties after the solid Lewis acid-base pairs are formed is examined. Study of their interactions with CO2 is performed using solid state NMR spectroscopy and CO2 adsorption experiments, which provides a new insight in their applicability as solid CO2 adsorbents. A correlation between the solid supported Lewis acid-base pair strength and the affinity to CO2 is proposed based on the calculation of isosteric heat of adsorption. For CO2 transformation, the study of confinement effect in silica nanopores and its application in catalytic cycloaddition of carbon dioxide to epoxides is presented. The synthesis of hybrid mesoporous adsorbents of CO2 on the base of MCM-41 and SBA-15 silica is performed and the criteria for an efficient catalytic system are defined and optimised, providing a novel and very efficient heterogeneous catalyst, capable of performing the transformation of carbon dioxide at room temperature under an atmospheric pressure without any chemical pre-activation of starting materials.

Download or read book Nanostructured Catalysts written by Susannah L. Scott and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-04-06 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the recent advent of nanotechnology, research and development in the area of nanostructured materials has gained unprecedented prominence. Novel materials with potentially exciting new applications are being discovered at a much higher rate than ever before. Innovative tools to fabricate, manipulate, characterize and evaluate such materials are being developed and expanded. To keep pace with this extremely rapid growth, it is necessary to take a breath from time to time, to critically assess the current knowledge and provide thoughts for future developments. This book represents one of these moments, as a number of prominent scientists in nanostructured materials join forces to provide insightful reviews of their areas of expertise, thus offering an overall picture of the state-- the art of the field. Nanostructured materials designate an increasing number of materials with designed shapes, surfaces, structures, pore systems, etc. Nanostructured materials with modified surfaces include those whose surfaces have been altered via such techniques as grafting and tethering of organic or organometallic species, or through various deposition procedures including electro, electroless and vapor deposition, or simple adsorption. These materials find important applications in catalysis, separation and environmental remediation. Materials with patterned surfaces, which are essential for the optoelectronics industry, constitute another important class of surface-modified nanostructured materials. Other materials are considered nanostructured because of their composition and internal organization.

Book Preparation of Catalysts VII

Download or read book Preparation of Catalysts VII written by R. Maggi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-08-17 with total page 1007 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The proceedings of the VIIth International Symposium on the Scientific Bases for the Preparation of Heterogeneous Catalysts, are in line with the general scope of this series of events. Emphasis in all Symposia has been on the scientific aspects of the preparation of new and industrial catalysts, or on new methods of preparation, rather than on the catalytic reactions in which such solids are ultimately used. In the present context, the catalytic event itself has only been considered as another, though often decisive, method of catalyst characterization.
