Book The Effect of Different Post curing Methods on Chemical Properties of 3D Printed Resin

Download or read book The Effect of Different Post curing Methods on Chemical Properties of 3D Printed Resin written by Scott Kirby and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose: To investigate the effects of different post-curing units on chemical properties (degree of polymerization) of 3D printed resins to determine whether less expensive alternative post-curing units can be a viable alternative to the manufacturer's recommended units. Methods: Forty-five samples were fabricated with an LCD printer (Phrozen Sonic Mini, Phrozen 3D, Hsinchu City, Taiwan) using MSLA Dental Modeling resin (Apply Lab Work, Torrance, CA, USA). These samples were divided randomly into four different groups for post-curing by four distinct curing units, the Phrozen Cure V2 (Phrozen 3D, Hsinchu City, Taiwan), a commercial acrylic nail UV LED curing unit (SUNUV, Shenzhen, China), a homemade curing oven fabricated from a readily available UV LED light source (FastToBuy, Shenzhen, China) and the Triad® 2000TM tungsten halogen light source (Dentsply Sirona, York, Pennsylvania, USA). The degree of conversion was measured by FTIR spectroscopy using a Nicolet 6700 FTIR Spectrometer (ThermoFisher Scientific, Waltham, MA, USA). Results: The Phrozen Cure V2 had the highest overall mean degree of conversion value, 69.6% with a 45-minute curing time. The Triad® 2000 VLC Curing Unit had the lowest mean degree of conversion value at the 15-minute interval with 66.2% and tied the lowest mean degree of conversion at the 45-minute interval with the Homemade Curing Unit, both with 68.2%. Conclusion: The type of light-curing unit did not yield statistically significant differences in the degree of conversion values. There was a statistically significant difference in the degree of conversion values between the 15-minute and 45-minute curing interval. When comparing individual light-curing units there was a statistically significant difference in the degree of conversion for the Phrozen Cure V2 between the 15-minute and 45-minute curing time (p = 0.029).

Book Evaluation of the effect of curing techniques on colour property of acrylic resins

Download or read book Evaluation of the effect of curing techniques on colour property of acrylic resins written by Amer Taqa and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2013-02-04 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forschungsarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Medizin - Zahnmedizin, University of Mosul (Dental college), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: This study was carried out to evaluate the colour property of two types of acrylic resin materials cured by microwave technique in comparison with that cured by conventional water bath technique. Two types of heat cured acrylic resin materials were selected: Quayle–Dental and Major–base types. Seventy–two samples (30×20×1.5 mm) were prepared and divided into four experimental groups: Quayle–Dental and Major–base groups were cured by microwave technique and the others Quayle–Dental and Major–base groups were cured by water–bath technique. The number of samples for each group was 18. The colour property for the samples was evaluated using computerized ultra-violet–visible spectrophotometer with acc-uracy up to 0.001 nm. The absorbed light was measured which is also termed the optical density. The results of this study showed that there were no significant differences in optical density for acrylic resin samples cured by microwave and water–bath techniques, and the acrylic resin with smaller particle size (Quayle–Dental) showed higher optical density (colour property) than that of larger particle size (Major–base). Key Words: Optical density, colour prop-erty, microwave technique.

Book The Effect of Addition Chlorohexiidine Gluconate Powder on the Properties of Heat Cured Acrylic Resin

Download or read book The Effect of Addition Chlorohexiidine Gluconate Powder on the Properties of Heat Cured Acrylic Resin written by Amer Taqa and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2018-07-05 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientific Essay from the year 2011 in the subject Medicine - Dentistry, , language: English, abstract: This study aims to evaluate the effect of the addition of chlorohexidine gluconate (CHX) (powder) on some physical, mechanical properties and antimicrobial effect. In this study two hundred and forty samples of heat cured acrylic resin (Major base-2) were prepared and divided into different groups. Control group (without the addition of CHX) and experimental groups (with the addition of CHX (powder) at (1%, 2%, 3%)) to evaluate transverse strength, tensile strength, surface hardness, dimensional accuracy, deflection, residual monomer in addition to antimicrobial effect for heat cured acrylic resin before and after the addition of CHX (powder). Results showed a statistically significant difference at (p0.05) between control and experimental groups. The addition of CHX (powder) into heat cured acrylic resin increases its flexibility in addition to it's antimicrobial effect. Group of 1% CHX has the highest value of transverse strength, tensile strength, surface hardness and dimensional accuracy after control group. In addition to its antimicrobial effect, CHX increases the flexibility of heat cured acrylic resin. As the concentration of added CHX increased, the flexibility of heat cured acrylic resin specimens will be increased.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With this hands-on resource, you will learn the most current methods of placing -- or assisting in the placement -- of dental materials, and how to instruct patients in their maintenance. Dental Materials uses step-by-step procedures to show how to mix, use, and apply dental materials within the context of the patient’s course of treatment. Expert authors Carol Hatrick, W. Stephan Eakle, and William F. Bird enhance this edition with four new chapters, along with coverage of newly approved materials and esthetic tools including the latest advances in bleaching and bonding. A new companion Evolve website lets you practice skills with challenging exercises! Procedure boxes include step-by-step instructions for common tasks. Procedural icons indicate specific guidelines or precautions that need to be followed for each procedure. End-of-chapter review questions help you assess your retention of material, with answers provided in an appendix. End-of-chapter case-based discussions provide a real-life application of material covered in the chapter. Clinical tips and precautions emphasize important information, advice, and warnings on the use of materials. Key terms are defined at the beginning of each chapter, bolded within the chapter, and defined in the glossary. Objectives help you focus on the information to gain from each chapter. Introductions provide an overview of what will be discussed in each chapter. Summary tables and boxes make it easy to find and review key concepts and information.
