Book Effect of Aspect Ratio and Sweepback on the Low speed Lateral Control Characteristics of Untapered Low aspect ratio Wings Equipped with Retractable Ailerons

Download or read book Effect of Aspect Ratio and Sweepback on the Low speed Lateral Control Characteristics of Untapered Low aspect ratio Wings Equipped with Retractable Ailerons written by Jack Fischel and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 44 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Results and discussion are presented of a low-speed lateral-control investigation of three untapered unswept wings of aspect ratio 1.13, 2.13, and 4.13 and an untapered 45 degrees sweptback wing of aspect ratio 2.09 equipped with 0.60-semispan retractable ailerons having various projections. Continuous-span ailerons were tested at outboard stations on the unswept wings, and plain (continuous span) and stepped (segmented) ailerons were tested at various spanwise stations with and without simulated actuating arms on the sweptback wing.

Book Effect of Aspect Ratic and Sweepback on the Low Speed Lateral Control Characteristics of Untapered Low Aspect Ratio Wings Equipped With Retractable Ailerons

Download or read book Effect of Aspect Ratic and Sweepback on the Low Speed Lateral Control Characteristics of Untapered Low Aspect Ratio Wings Equipped With Retractable Ailerons written by and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 39 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A low-speed wind-tunnel investigation was made to determine the lateral control characteristics of three untapered unswept wings of aspect ratio 1.13, 2.13, and 4.13 and an untapered 4%o sweptback wing of aspect ratio 2.09 equipped with O.60-semispan retractable ailerons having various projections. Each of the wings had an NACA 64A010 airfoil section and had the ailerons mounted at the 0. 70-chord station. The continuous- span aileron investigated on the unswept wings spanned the outboard stations of each wing; whereas the plain (continuous span) and stepped (segmented) retractable ailerons investigated on the sweptback wing were located at various spanwise stations and were tested with and without simulated actuating arms.

Book Effect of Aspect Ratio on the Low speed Lateral Control Characteristics of Unswept Untapered Low aspect ratio Wings

Download or read book Effect of Aspect Ratio on the Low speed Lateral Control Characteristics of Unswept Untapered Low aspect ratio Wings written by Rodger L. Naeseth and published by . This book was released on 1951 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of untapered, unswept, complete wings of apsect ratios 1.13, 2.13, 4.13, and 6.13 was investigated at a Mach number of 0.26 to determine the effect of aspect ratio on the lateral control characteristics of the wings equipped with 0.25-chord sealed ailerons of various spans and of various spanwise locations. Design charts are presented for computing aileron effectiveness of low-aspect-ratio, untapered, unswept wings. Experimental values of control effectivenesss are compared with values estimated by theoretical methods.

Book Aerodynamic Design of Transport Aircraft

Download or read book Aerodynamic Design of Transport Aircraft written by E. Obert and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2009-04-16 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The origin of Aerodynamic Design of Transport Aircraft stems from the time when the author was appointed part-time professor in the Aerospace Faculty of Delft University of Technology. At the time his main activities were those of leading the departments of Aerodynamics, Performance and Preliminary Design at Fokker Aircraft Company. The groundwork for this book started in 1987 as a series of lecture notes consisting mainly of pictorial material with a minimum of English explanatory text. After the demise of Fokker in 1996 one feared that interest in aeronautical engineering would strongly diminish. As a result of this, the course was discontinued and the relationship between the author and the faculty came to an end. Two years later the situation was reappraised, and the interest in aeronautical engineering remained, so the course was reinstated with a former Fokker colleague Ronald Slingerland as lecturer. The lecture notes from these courses form the foundation of this publication.
