Book Effect of Aging Temperature and Time on the Mechanical Properties of Titanium Alloy 6al 6v 2sn

Download or read book Effect of Aging Temperature and Time on the Mechanical Properties of Titanium Alloy 6al 6v 2sn written by Armando A. AA. IANNELLI and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of tests were conducted to determine the effect of aging temperature and time on the mechanical properties of titanium alloy 6Al-6V-2Sn. The aging temperature were varied from 900 F to 1100 F and the aging time at each temperature varied from 4 to 32 hours. The solution temperatures and time were held constant. The results show that in general, as aging temperature and/or aging time increases, yield and tensile strengths decrease, while elongation, reduction of area, and Charpy V-notch impact strength increase. Book The Effect of Solution Temperature on Mechanical Properties and Microstructure of 6a1 6v 2sn Titanium Alloys

Download or read book The Effect of Solution Temperature on Mechanical Properties and Microstructure of 6a1 6v 2sn Titanium Alloys written by Ellsworth H. SWIFT and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of tests were conducted to determine the effect of solution temperature on the mechanical properties and microstructure of commercial-grade titanium alloy 6A1-6V-2Sn. The solution temperature was varied from 1500 F to 2200 F. The solution time, aging time, and temperature were held constant. It is concluded that optimum strength-ductility-toughness combinations are obtained at solution temperatures of 1575 F to 1600 F. Lower solution temperatures decrease the tensile and yield strengths, and higher solution temperatures show a sharp decrease in ductility and impact strength. The beta transus temperature is 1720 F. Book Heat Treatment Effects on the Mechanical Properties in Ti 6A1 6V 2Sn

Download or read book Heat Treatment Effects on the Mechanical Properties in Ti 6A1 6V 2Sn written by CF. Hickey and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 4 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of heat treatment on the mechanical properties (including fracture toughness) of the titanium alloy Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn has been investigated. Based upon a preliminary hardness survey of solution temperatures from 1300 to 1800°F, solution treatment temperatures of 1400, 1550, and 1700°F were selected for further aging heat treatments ranging from 700 to 1100°F for times up to 32 h. X-ray and electron microscopic observations and elastic modulus determinations were employed and correlated with the mechanical property data. A detailed discussion of the results and observations is contained in this paper.

Book Effect of Temperature and Notch Radius on Mechanical Properties of Titanium Alloy 6al 6v 2sn 4zr

Download or read book Effect of Temperature and Notch Radius on Mechanical Properties of Titanium Alloy 6al 6v 2sn 4zr written by Armando A. Iannelli and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 17 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tests were conducted to obtain data required for the evaluation of titanium alloy 6Al-6V-2Sn-4Zr. Tests were conducted on notched and unnotched tensile specimens at temperatures ranging from -321 F to +437 F. Notch radii were varied from 0.001 inch to 0.100 inch (Kt = 1.8 to 8). The results show that: (1) notch tensile strength may increase up to 275 percent as notch radius increases; (2) there exists an optimum notch radius; and (3) tensile and yield strengths decrease approximately 30 percent as temperature increases from -148 to +437 F.

Book Strengthening Mechanisms During the Heat Treatment of Three Titanium Alloys Ti 6al 4v Ti 6al 6v 2sn and Ti 8al 1mo 1v

Download or read book Strengthening Mechanisms During the Heat Treatment of Three Titanium Alloys Ti 6al 4v Ti 6al 6v 2sn and Ti 8al 1mo 1v written by Paul J. Fopiano and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effects of solution and aging treatments on the Alloys Ti-6Al-4V, Ti-6Al-6V-2Sn, and Ti-8Al-1Mo-1V were investigated by hardness measurements, electron microscopy, resistance measurements at the aging temperatures, and X-ray diffraction. Relatively small changes in alloy content have a marked effect on the strengths attainable by heat treatment. Two hardening mechanisms account for all the observed responses to heat treatment. These mechanisms are the decomposition of the transformed beta phase (either during the quench from the solution temperature or as the result of subsequent aging) and the precipitation of aluminum-rich alpha-2 in the primary alpha phase. The changes in strength as the result of heat treatment are correlated with the equilibrium alloy contents of the phases present at the solution temperature. (Author).

Book Titanium

Download or read book Titanium written by Matthew J. Donachie and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2000 with total page 381 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Designed to support the need of engineering, management, and other professionals for information on titanium by providing an overview of the major topics, this book provides a concise summary of the most useful information required to understand titanium and its alloys. The author provides a review of the significant features of the metallurgy and application of titanium and its alloys. All technical aspects of the use of titanium are covered, with sufficient metals property data for most users. Because of its unique density, corrosion resistance, and relative strength advantages over competing materials such as aluminum, steels, and superalloys, titanium has found a niche in many industries. Much of this use has occurred through military research, and subsequent applications in aircraft, of gas turbine engines, although more recent use features replacement joints, golf clubs, and bicycles.Contents include: A primer on titanium and its alloys, Introduction to selection of titanium alloys, Understanding titanium's metallurgy and mill products, Forging and forming, Castings, Powder metallurgy, Heat treating, Joining technology and practice, Machining, Cleaning and finishing, Structure/processing/property relationships, Corrosion resistance, Advanced alloys and future directions, Appendices: Summary table of titanium alloys, Titanium alloy datasheets, Cross-reference to titanium alloys, Listing of selected specification and standardization organizations, Selected manufacturers, suppliers, services, Corrosion data, Machining data.

Book Heat Treater s Guide

Download or read book Heat Treater s Guide written by Harry Chandler and published by ASM International. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 690 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The material is contained in more than 500 datasheet articles, each devoted exclusively to one particular alloy, a proven format first used in the complementary guide for irons and steels. For even more convenience, the datasheets are arranged by alloy groups: nickel, aluminum, copper, magnesium, titanium, zinc and superalloys. The book provides very worthwhile and practical information in such areas as: compositions, trade names, common names, specifications (both U.S. and foreign), available products forms, typical applications, and properties (mechanical, fabricating, and selected others). This comprehensive resource also covers the more uncommon alloys by groups in the same datasheet format. Included are: refractory metals and alloys (molybdenum, tungsten, niobium, tantalum), beryllium copper alloys, cast and P/M titanium parts, P/M aluminum parts, lead and lead alloys, tin-rich alloys, and sintering copper-base materials (copper-tin, bronze, brass, nickel silvers).
