Soon, the spirit had begun to make simply incredible claims about his identity, insisting that he was one of the most famous figures in world history – but what was the truth? Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A large, black, prehistoric serpent that makes its home in Lake Erie. A titanic hairy humanoid with glowing orange eyes who spies on any teenagers brave enough to park near its lovers' lane home. A giant owl the size of a tree so adept at camouflage it can practically disappear. A nocturnal race of tiny, melon-headed feral humans who roam the woods looking for victims to feast on. These are but some of the creatures of cryptozoology, folklore and urban legend that readers will meet in the pages of Monsters of Ohio, the first book of its kind to completely chronicle the state's population of mystery animals and the stories told about them. In addition to thirteen Buckeye State monsters-from infamous ones like The Lake Erie Monster, The Loveland Frogs and The Grassman, to lesser-known local legends like The Crosswick Monster, Bighoot and The Defiance Wolfman-the book also includes a parade of mysterious creatures that were only sighted once before disappearing...if, of course, they were ever really there at all. J.C. Raphael was born in Ashtabula, Ohio. He earned a bachelor's degree in English from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. He began freelance writing at age 17 with a film review of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein for The Plain Dealer, and has continued writing reviews of stuff ever since. Book Visitors from Lanulos Original Edition

Download or read book Visitors from Lanulos Original Edition written by Woodrow Derenberger and published by . This book was released on 2021-07-30 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Saucerian Press proudly presents the original first edition of the "lost" ufological classic, "Visitors From Lanulos!" Initially published in 1971, this book became perhaps the rarest "contactee" book ever. Prior to its reissue, there were only a half-dozen copies remaining in the world's library system, with the rest trading for thousands of dollars each. Woodrow Derenberger, the author of the book, claimed to have had a series of strange adventures beginning on November 2nd, 1966. While driving home from Parkersburg, West Virginia to his suburban home in Mineral Wells, he suddenly found the highway blocked by a large gray object. Someone emerged from the object and walked to the passenger side window of his car. The man introduced himself as "a searcher," and offered words of comfort to Derenberger. After noting that he would come again, the "spaceman," who called himself "Indrid Cold," stepped back into the object and it rose out of sight. Derenberger went home and told his story to his wife. He then called the police and the press. Soon after, other witnesses came forward to say that they, too, had seen Cold talking to Derenberger by the side of the road. (In time, several locals would have their own encounters with Cold.) Two days later while driving in his car, Derenberger began to receive telepathic communications from Cold, who described himself as from the "galaxy of Ganymede." Cold also supplied some information about his life, including the observation that people on his planet (Lanulos) lived to be 125 to 175 of our Earth years. Over the next weeks, other stories would accumulate that substantiated other parts of Derenberger's story, including independent UFO sightings on November 4th. An initial investigation concluded that Derenberger was not a fraud or hoaxer, and was mentally and psychologically sound. Throughout this period, Derenberger's direct contacts with Indrid Cold continued. He learned much about Cold's people and their desire for friendly contact. In 1967, Cold took Derenberger for a ride in his spaceship. Strangely, they visited the oilfields of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as Cold's lush, jungle planet, which was populated by beautiful humanoids wearing no clothes. Derenberger told his story frequently over the next few years, and his story was given extended treatment by Fortean researcher John A. Keel, who wrote the Foreword to the book. Through the 1980s, Derenberger assumed a low profile, though he continued to correspond with a small group of people who believed his accounts. In fact, he forwarded many letters from Cold to these fans. (Cold actually lived in a house in Midway, West Virginia before moving to Cleveland in the 1980s.) In the years since, other evidence has been discovered pointing to Cold's possible intelligence connections, and the fact that he may have actually piloted an early aerial drone designed by the U.S. military. Was there an underground flying saucer manufacturing plant near Woody's home, perhaps in Point Pleasant, home of the "Mothman?" Were Cold and his associates trying to bamboozle locals into thinking the military drones were from outer space? Or were they really interdimensional "Men in Black" or "spacemen?" Check out this fascinating read for clues both astounding and confounding.

Book I Know What I Saw

Download or read book I Know What I Saw written by Linda S Godfrey and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2019-07-16 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Which came first--the monster or the myth? Journalist Linda Godfrey investigates present-day encounters with mysterious creatures of old. The monsters of ancient mythology, folklore, and more contemporary urban legend have long captured the popular imagination. While most people in America today relegate monsters to just that--our imaginations--we continue to be fascinated by the unknown. Linda Godfrey is one of the country's leading authorities on modern-day monsters and has interviewed countless eyewitnesses to strange phenomena. Monsters evolve, taking on both new and familiar forms over time and across cultures. In this well-researched book, Godfrey explores uncanny encounters with werewolves, goatmen, Bigfoot, and more. In more than twenty-five years spent "chasing" monsters, Godfrey has found that it often remains unclear whether the sightings are simply mistaken animals, hoaxes, or coincidence. When all the speculation is said and done, one question remains for fans and researchers: Are the creatures "real," or are they entirely "other-world?" Godfrey suspects that it isn't an either/or question--our reality operates on a scale from dense matter to realms the human eye cannot see. As Godfrey investigates unexplained phenomena, her search for answers will fascinate casual observers and enthusiasts alike.

Download or read book The Silver Bridge written by Gray Barker and published by . This book was released on 2015-10-16 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Saucerian presents the newly revised 2015 edition of "The Silver Bridge" by Gray Barker! This edition features several photographs not found in previous editions, as well as introductions by researchers Allen Greenfield, James W. Moseley, and Andy Colvin. The cover features a recently unearthed government photo of the Silver Bridge, showing it proudly withstanding one of the worst floods in history. Description from the original dust jacket: What kind of book is "The Silver Bridge?" Well... It is primarily not about the collapse of the Silver Bridge in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, which took the lives of dozens of people on December 15th, 1967 - though it does describe the strange events that preceded the collapse. Is this book a historical account of Mothman, the famous birdman who visited the Elk, Kanawha, and Ohio river valleys in 1966? Or is it a dramatic docudrama about the hopes and fears of local residents? And what about Woody Derenberger, whose van was stopped on a nearby highway by an otherworldly "spaceman" named "Indrid Cold?" Did Woody really take a friendly ride in Indrid's spaceship? Did he experience real telepathy with Indrid and the people of the planet "Lanulos," or was Indrid an earthly "Man in Black" with ill intent? Regardless of what "The Silver Bridge" is really about, one thing is for certain. It will creep mysteriously back into your thoughts, late at night, like the barely audible chanting of robed figures in the foggy, moonlit woods. In the shadows of your darkened bedroom, a visit from a winged creature or pale stranger seems possible - particularly if you happen to "know too much" about flying saucers! "Complex and intelligent.. Be very careful..." -John A. Keel, author of "The Mothman Prophecies" and "Our Haunted Planet" "Without Gray, there would be no Men in Black mystery..." - Nick Redfern, Mysterious Universe "One of the great classic saucer books..." -UFO Magazine

Book The Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone Selected Writings of John A Keel

Download or read book The Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone Selected Writings of John A Keel written by John Keel and published by . This book was released on 2013-08-12 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Saucerian Press proudly presents "The Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone," a collection of magazine articles and lectures by John A. Keel, the man many consider to have been not only the premiere investigator of all things unusual and "Fortean," but who was also our very own, twentieth-century "Mark Twain." Many of the articles in this anthology and its companion volumes, "Flying Saucer to the Center of Your Mind" and "Searching for the String," were revolutionary, and explored ideas popularized in Keel's classic books. Written in Keel's engaging trademark style, they are sure to delight fans with their fresh, unparalleled insights into the nature of reality. In these pages, John Keel displays the keen observational skills and investigative tenacity that made him the enfant terrible of ufology for decades. In this no-holds-barred analysis - much of it written almost 50 years ago - Keel shreds most of the sacred-cow beliefs still held by many in ufological and "cryptozoological" circles today, and presents theories so radical that they are only now becoming accepted: the "4-D" or "interdimensional" thesis; the "breakaway civilization" theory; the possible role of "ancient aliens" in human history; the synthetic and/or hallucinatory nature of many "alien abduction" and "Men in Black" encounters; the role of spy agencies in paranormal research; and the alarming connection between UFOs, animal mutilations, and attacks on unsuspecting humans. In short, "The Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone" is witty, incisive, impassioned, and prescient, and cohesively brings Keel's message into focus in a way that perhaps no other book has. This 2013 edition features illuminating forewords by noted researchers Leon Davidson and Doug Skinner, as well as an introduction by the editor, Andy Colvin. "The real deal... A true, cutting-edge original." -Jeffery Pritchett, The Church of Mabus "After Keel introduced me to The Superspectrum, I was never quite the same..." -Adam Gorightly "Goes deep into the mystery... A fascinating read..." -Tessa B. Dick "Insightful... A leading light of 4-D saucering..." -Jim Moseley, Saucer Smear "My favorite all-time human being..." -Skylaire Alfvegren, L.A.
