Book Health Education in Rural Schools Classic Reprint

Download or read book Health Education in Rural Schools Classic Reprint written by J. Mace Andress and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-16 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Health Education in Rural Schools The winning of the war has long commanded the atten tion of the American people. Our resources have been spent lavishly to make secure our liberties and the freedom of the world. Such a supreme crisis in our history revealed inspir ing patriotism, but also a pathetic weakness in our citizens. Out of 06 men who were examined on the first draft, a vast army of men were rejected on physical grounds. A large proportion of these physical defects might have been corrected or prevented if the schools had been doing their part to train children to conserve and improve their health. Such a serious flaw in public education must challenge the efforts of educators throughout the land. Several States, realizing the gravity of the situation, have recently passed laws making physical education obligatory and requiring a more extensive and practical teaching of hygiene.' The war has compelled us to recognize, as we never did before, the fundamental importance of health education as preparedness, not only for military service, but also for happy and efficient participation in civil life. Contrary to tradition and popular belief, country children have been found to be as defective physically and in many cases more defective than city children. Comparatively little has been done so far for the health of country children. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. This book was released on 2017-12 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Physical Education and the Preservation of Health Considerations of this description have presented themselves occasionally, as I have been called to observe the evils arising from the prevalent systems of education, and also from too steady an application to liter ary pursuits in those whose education was completed. At one period, my attention was directed to the unfavorable influence of studious and sedentary habits on health, by the occurrence of alarming indisposition among the members of the sacred profes sion, a number of whom became its prema ture and much lamented Victims. At ah other, I witnessed the effects of a mistaken system, on the constitution of multitudes of the fairest work of creative power. I have had the misfortune to behold, when it was too late to apply a remedy, numer ous instances of decay in the most vigorous constitutions, and of distortion in the best proportioned forms. Book The Education of the Health Care Team What s It All About Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Education of the Health Care Team What s It All About Classic Reprint written by Richard Beckhard and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-09 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Education of the Health Care Team, What's It All About? The fact that at a Congress such as this, the topic of The Education of the Health Care Team starts with the question What's It All About? Is indicative, in my opinion, of the vast amount of confusion, differing priorities, biases, and complexities around the whole issue of inter disciplinary, health-team delivery of care. I suspect that this audience represents a wide range of attitudes toward the subject. In taking the assignment of talking on this question, I am painfully reminded of a speaker at another meeting dealing with a similarly complex topic whose Opening comment was: My job for the next few moments is to talk yours is to listen. I hope to heaven you don't finish ahead of me. Let me begin by defining what I see the issue is and is not. The issue is not whether team delivery of health care is good or bad, needed or not needed. Team delivery of care exists today, in a wide variety of delivery settings from the private physician-nurse team, to the multi member interdisciplinary teams in community health centers, out-patient clinics and the like. Ten learned medical men all diagnosis a case different - the man was in perfect health and fooled them all. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Health at School: Considered in Its Mental, Moral, and Physical Aspects Like many accepted truths, the unity of man's nature, and the consequent intimate relation between his physical condition and his intellectual and moral efficiency, had long endured the fate of lying bed-ridden, as Coleridge expresses it, in the dormitory of the soul, side by side with the most exploded errors - as little operative as though it formed a member of the latter class. Book The Health of the School Child Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Health of the School Child Classic Reprint written by W. Leslie Mackenzie and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-11 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Health of the School Child The papers here reprinted are offered as a contribution to the practical side of the medical inspection of schools. In every civilised country the doctor and the school child are coming closer together. In Scotland, no less than in England, the interest is widespread and intense. This must be my apology for the present papers. The first paper was read at a Congress of sanitary administrators, official and unofficial. The second was read at a Congress of the Parents' National Union, where the majority were in a position to choose for their children the best education afforded by our present-day schools. The third was read before the Royal Society of Edinburgh, by whose kind permission it is now printed. On all three occasions, I found, as indeed in many places elsewhere in Scotland, that the Royal Commission on Physical Training (Scotland) and the Committee of Physical Deterioration had aroused the minds of every class of the community to the importance of personal hygiene in schools. The medical supervision of school children appeals to every class of the community. It is responded to by every class. It is no longer a topic for special pleaders.
