Book Handbook of Research on Enhancing Innovation in Higher Education Institutions

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Enhancing Innovation in Higher Education Institutions written by Babi?, Verica and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-03-27 with total page 695 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Innovation in higher education is a process of institutional adaptation to changes in the environment that enables higher education institutions to improve their existing practice and to be innovative at different levels and in different forms. Moreover, innovativeness is also related to internal characteristics of higher education institutions. Innovation in higher education can be observed as a result of the changing contexts in which higher education institutions function. Adjacently, a comprehensive approach to considering innovativeness is needed in order to enable the examination of different elements of innovativeness in higher education, that is, to identify the key factors that (de)stimulate innovations and affect their interactions with other relevant stakeholders at the national level and beyond. The Handbook of Research on Enhancing Innovation in Higher Education Institutions is a critical scholarly book that examines innovativeness in higher education and its complications and diversity. Starting from the view that higher education is currently confronted by global forces that require new research ideas, the publication suggests that comprehensive understanding of innovativeness is imperative for higher education’s institutions in the 21st century. Analyzing the recognized trends within the publication and concluding which aspects should be taken to improve innovativeness in higher education, this reference book outlines quality and innovation in teaching, innovative university-business cooperation, institutional framework and governance of higher education institutions, knowledge management, and leadership and organizational culture. It is ideal for curriculum designers, administrators, researchers, policymakers, academicians, professionals, and students.

Book Humor in Pedagogy in Tertiary Education in the Age of COVID 19

Download or read book Humor in Pedagogy in Tertiary Education in the Age of COVID 19 written by Philip Aka and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2022-07-11 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using the major theories of humor as a point of departure, Humor in Pedagogy in Tertiary Education in the Age of COVID-19: Bosnia in Comparative Perspective argues for the expanded use of humor as pedagogy in Bosnian tertiary education, unfazed by the pandemic infections of COVID-19, with teachable lessons for other countries. It argues that the measures put in place to contain the spread of the pandemic neither foreclosed nor rendered less exigent, the drive for more quality education in Bosnia achieved through various means that include creative application of humor in tertiary education. Rather than minimize it, the era of non-classroom-based instructions ushered by COVID-19 offers an opportunity to promote intelligible learning by infusion of humor into every aspect of tertiary instruction, from course syllabus to student evaluation of faculty teaching. Key highlights of this book include the features of Bosnian self-parody that it articulates as material for pedagogy in Bosnian tertiary classrooms, the boundaries for judicious use of humor in pedagogy that it spells out, and its formulation related to the continued value of humor in the Bosnian tertiary classroom unfazed by the public health challenges of COVID-19. The book is designed as an innovative and less contentious contribution to the debates on educational reforms in postwar Bosnia, a contribution focused positively around the quality—and quantity—of instructions in tertiary institutions in Bosnia.

Book Peace Pedagogies in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Download or read book Peace Pedagogies in Bosnia and Herzegovina written by Larisa Kasumagić-Kafedžić and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection presents interdisciplinary perspectives on educating for peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It explores a range of theories, contexts, pedagogies and practices within formal education settings and draws attention to the multiple roles that teachers play in fostering socially transformative learning. The volume offers readers a critical exploration of peace pedagogy as an imagined ideal and fluid space between post-war educational politics, institutional and curricular constraints, and the lived experiences and identities of teachers and students in socially and historically situated communities. The book highlights local voices, initiatives and practices by illustrating good examples of how classrooms are being connected to communities, teacher education programs and teachers continued professional development. It demonstrates why and how the grammars of peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina are still in a state of flux and negotiation, and what the implications are for classroom practice and pedagogy. Recommendations are offered for policymakers, curriculum developers, teacher educators and teachers on how peace pedagogies can be promoted at all levels of the education system and through pre-service and in-service teacher education, taking into account the structural uniqueness of the country. .

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the history of Bosnia and post-conflict Bosnian education in the setting of a society very much still politically divided. Focusing on issues central to successful education in a democracy, Lanahan highlights the importance of the governance structures of the Dayton Peace Accords, the split nature of education in BiH, the international community’s involvement in education, teacher education, and higher education reform. Drawing on a wealth of research by national and international experts, this book provides an engaging and timely study of global governance, regional integration, and oversight by the international community over a 20-year period for policymakers to consider as they continue to create policy for other emerging democracies. Both academics and practitioners in the field of international education and development will find this an invaluable text.
