The armed conflict in Nepal has left a legacy of some 15,000 dead (INSEC, 2007), and more than 1,300 missing (ICRC, April 2009). According to Shrestha, (2004) he has acknowledged that the armed conflict also destroyed human life and physical infrastructures as well. Similarly, Pherali (2011)states that children from rural people to the urban, being abduct from their home, and killing of innocent children and people, people being homeless, people being internally and externally displaced, the big number of children being orphan and homeless were the regular phenomena in that period. However, ten years armed conflict with the political aim has been the longest ever conflict witness in the past of Nepal. Ten years since then, the conflict has overcome almost 70 out of 75 districts, making it a problem of Nepal in many sectors like health, education etc .Therefore it can be said that Ten years conflict has a profound effect on children development negatively.

Schools, trapped in the middle of the conflict between the Maoists and the security forces, became a significant political space that facilitated critical education, providing intellectual strength to the violent rebellion. In this issue, I argue that the government should shoulder the responsibility of educating the people by nationalizing the schools and it cannot be given to the private sector whose chief objective is profit maximization. In doing so I have used critical theories to analyze the need of nationalizing schools in Nepal. and have tried to establish the logic that the schools should be nationalized and every person's access to education should be ensured.

Book excerpt: International development efforts aimed at improving girls’ lives and education have been well-intended, somewhat effective, but ultimately short-sighted and incomplete. This is because international development efforts often operate under a reductive understanding of the term 'gender' and how it influences the lives of girls and boys. Gender is more commonly conceived by international efforts as characteristics which are ascribed to girls as norms for behaviour. In particular, the analysis in Gender Trouble Makers focuses on the social constructions of gender and the ways in which gender was reinforced and maintained through a case study in rural Nepal. In developing countries like Nepal, promoting access to and participation in existing formal education programme is clearly necessary, but it is not, in itself, sufficient to transform gender power relations in the broader society. When gender is properly addressed as a process, then all stakeholders involved - researchers, governmental officials, and community members - can begin to understand and devise more effective ways to increase both girl and boy students’ enrollment, participation, and success in school.

In South Asia some locally dominant languages (e.g., Hindi, Urdu, Nepali) are gaining ground beside English at the expense of the lesser-known languages. Despite a long history of stable multilingualism, language death is not uncommon in the South Asian context. We do not know how the language situation in South Asia will be affected by modern information and communication technologies: Will cultural and linguistic diversity be strengthened or weakened as they become increasingly prevalent in all walks of life? This volume brings together areas of research that so far do not interact to any significant extent: traditional South Asian descriptive linguistics and sociolinguistics, documentary linguistics, issues of intellectual and cultural property and fieldwork ethics, and language technology. Researchers working in the areas of documentary linguistics and language technology have become aware of each other in the last few years, and of how work in the other area could be potentially useful in furthering their own aims. Similarly, the insights of documentary linguistics are making their way into descriptive linguistics and sociolinguistics. However, the potential for synergy among these areas of research is almost limitless. This volume provides the reader, not so much with a do-it-yourself recipe for applying modern technology to the problem of language shift in South Asia today, but rather with some basic knowledge about the problems involved and some directions from which solutions could be forthcoming, a toolbox rather than a blueprint, for helping to shape the linguistic future of South Asia.
