Book Education An Eternal Asset Articles United

Download or read book Education An Eternal Asset Articles United written by DR. PRATIK MUNGEKAR and published by CONSCIENCE WORKS PUBLICATION. This book was released on 2022-05-03 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dear Readers, To educate the complete child, teaching and learning must encompass all aspects of student development. How do experts from many disciplines collaborate and combine their skills and abilities to meet the developmental requirements of students? What attitudes and ideas are required to effectively collaborate in order to build healthy educational settings for children? Who has responsibility for the collaborative process, and who intervenes when it fails? There is room for everyone to excel intellectually if they are given the correct education from the beginning. "The function of education is to teach one to think deeply and critically." True education aims to develop intelligence as well as character. The importance of cooperation and coordination in problem resolution and transformation in classrooms, schools, and school-community systems is emphasised. What exactly is 'Education'? What is its principal function, and what is it not? Which techniques support it, and at what cognitive levels? So many fundamental issues that many of our "trained teachers," among others, raise. And there are few forums where they may debate the few replies they have found so far. As a result, there was a perceived need for a book of this type, containing basic principles and introductions to many pertinent theories. I hope that the book will be a useful resource for student-teachers, teachers, teacher-educators, and all stakeholders in our country's educational institutions.

Book Democracy and Education

Download or read book Democracy and Education written by John Dewey and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 1916 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: . Renewal of Life by Transmission. The most notable distinction between living and inanimate things is that the former maintain themselves by renewal. A stone when struck resists. If its resistance is greater than the force of the blow struck, it remains outwardly unchanged. Otherwise, it is shattered into smaller bits. Never does the stone attempt to react in such a way that it may maintain itself against the blow, much less so as to render the blow a contributing factor to its own continued action. While the living thing may easily be crushed by superior force, it none the less tries to turn the energies which act upon it into means of its own further existence. If it cannot do so, it does not just split into smaller pieces (at least in the higher forms of life), but loses its identity as a living thing. As long as it endures, it struggles to use surrounding energies in its own behalf. It uses light, air, moisture, and the material of soil. To say that it uses them is to say that it turns them into means of its own conservation. As long as it is growing, the energy it expends in thus turning the environment to account is more than compensated for by the return it gets: it grows. Understanding the word "control" in this sense, it may be said that a living being is one that subjugates and controls for its own continued activity the energies that would otherwise use it up. Life is a self-renewing process through action upon the environment.

Book The Routledge International Handbook of Life and Values Education in Asia

Download or read book The Routledge International Handbook of Life and Values Education in Asia written by John Chi-Kin Lee and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-06-28 with total page 817 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Handbook provides a comprehensive look at the educational scope of life and values that characterize 21st-century Asia, as well as those values shared across cultures. Some values are deeply resonant with the region’s past while others reflect modernity and the new contexts in which Asian societies find themselves. Exploring these values of different types and the way they are constructed in Eastern and Western contexts, the contributors delve into the diversity of religious, moral and social education to promote greater understanding across cultures. While a range of values is identified here, there is no single set of values that can be applied to all people in all contexts. The time has long gone, even for single societies, when values can be imposed. Yet this Handbook emphasizes both the extent and importance of values to individuals and their societies—how they respond to these values may provide the key to better and more caring societies and to better lives for all. Academics and teachers will find this Handbook resourceful because it raises important theoretical issues related to social values and their formation in distinctive contexts and provides novel insights into the diverse educational landscape in Asia. Policymakers and educators will also find this text helpful in learning to think about new ways to improve the quality of people’s lives.

Download or read book The Birmingham Book written by Colin Diamond CBE and published by Crown House Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2022-07-11 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Trojan Horse affair sent shock waves across England's education system in 2014. The affair centred around an anonymous letter that contained instructions on how to take over schools with a majority Muslim population by influencing their governing bodies and undermining head teachers. The authenticity of the letter remains hotly disputed, yet its publication generated huge turbulence - not only in Birmingham's schools and communities, but also in both Parliament and the national news. The book offers fresh perspectives based on unique access to information from within the city, written by respected educationalists who have worked successfully in Birmingham for many years both during the Trojan Horse era and since. It explains what led to the publication of the letter, its profound consequences for education in Birmingham, and how it influenced events in the city since. Crucially the book also opens up an informed discussion around the issues raised during Trojan Horse, such as delivering a well-rounded curriculum suitable for a diverse school community, developing working partnerships in the local area, and boosting the attainment and aspirations of children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Colin shares case studies of school improvement in local and national MATs in tough, multicultural urban environments, and how schools worked to develop pupils' social capital. The Birmingham Book reveals how the Trojan Horse affair was handled by the Department for Education as their academies and free schools policies underwent their first major stress tests. Furthermore, the book provides an up-to-date appraisal of the interrelationship between education in England's schools and the cultural and religious practice of the local communities the schools serve - and of the underachievement levels of the different ethnic groups in Birmingham. Suitable for teachers, school leaders, governors and policymakers.
