Download or read book There is a Crack in Everything Education and Religion in a Secular Age written by K. H. (Ina) ter Avest and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-11-22 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are two constants in academic and theological discourse throughout history, they are the debate around secularization and the dialogue concerning the intersection of religion and education. Each age has had its debate about modernizing forces that drive concerns of impending secularization. In this publication this theme is approached from perspectives of teachers, of students, of policy makers and situated in a politico-historical context. Aware of the fact that in today’s plural societies one sacred canopy is non-existent anymore, cracks of the sacred canopy/canopies are described, as well as ‘the light that gets in’, the possible and challenging ways out are roughly sketched.

Book The Right to Silence in Transnational Criminal Proceedings

Download or read book The Right to Silence in Transnational Criminal Proceedings written by Fenella M. W. Billing and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-09-01 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book considers the effectiveness and fairness of using international cooperation to obtain confession evidence or evidence of a suspect or accused person’s silence across borders. This is a question of balance in limiting and protecting the right to silence. The functioning of the applicable law in Denmark, England and Wales and Australia is analysed in relation to investigative and trial measures such as police questioning, administrative questioning powers, covert surveillance and the use of silence as evidence of guilt. On the national level, this work examines the way in which domestic rules balance the right to silence in national criminal proceedings, and whether investigative and trial rules produce continuity throughout the criminal proceedings as a whole. From the transnational perspective, comparative legal analysis is used to determine whether the national continuity may be disrupted to such an extent that cooperation in the gathering of confession evidence causes unfairness. From the international perspective, this research compares the right to silence under the ICCPR and the ECHR to identify the overall effect of cooperating under particular human rights frameworks on the question of balance.

Book The Book of Princes and Princesses

Download or read book The Book of Princes and Princesses written by Leonora Blanche Lang and published by E-Kitap Projesi & Cheapest Books. This book was released on 2024-01-27 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All the stories about Princes and Princesses in this book are true stories, and were written by Mrs. Lang, out of old books of history. There are some children who make life difficult by saying, first that stories about fairies are true, and that they like fairies; and next that they do not like true stories about real people, who lived long ago. I am quite ready to grant that there really are such things as fairies, because, though I never saw a fairy, any more than I have seen the little animals which lecturers call molecules and ions, still I have seen people who have seen fairies—truthful people. This book about Princes and Princesses is not one which a child is obliged to read. Indeed the stories are not put in order, beginning with the princes who lived longest ago and coming down gradually to people who lived nearest our own time. The book opens with the great Napoleon Bonaparte, who died when some very old people still living were alive. Napoleon was not born a prince, far from it; his father was only a poor gentleman on a wild rough little island. But he made himself not merely a king, but the greatest of all emperors and generals in war. He is not held up as a person whom every boy should try to imitate, but it is a truth that Napoleon always remained a boy in his heart. He liked to make up stories of himself, doing wonderful things which even he was unable to do. When he was a boy he played at being a general, making snow fortresses and besieging them, just as many boys do. And when he was a man he dreamed of conquering all the East, Asia, and India, and Australia; and he tried to do all that, but it was too much even for him.

Book Drama in Education Learning Art Medium

Download or read book Drama in Education Learning Art Medium written by Dr. Mohamed Abou El-khir and published by Mohamed Abou El-khir. This book was released on 2020-03-03 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a PhD thesis from Leeds Metropolitan University on seeking to explore a new direction through the use of resources in the development of learning through Drama in education. The quality of participants experience can be enhanced by "resources" or "the Dramatic environment" (i.e. the use of space, props, costumes, music, sound effects, sets and lighting) Therefore, the book explains the nature of learning through Theatre, Theatre in Education and DIE. Therefore, it is appropriate to look at a range of theories of learning to see where DIE fits such as Piaget, Donaldson, and Vygotsky and also to comprehend which art theories can be related more specifically to DIE, for example, Stanislavski, Craig and Brecht. Consequent on this could be the conceptualisation of the relationship between drama as arts process and as learning medium. Moreover, Action research was used, and different data collection was collected and analyzed. This book contains many examples and case studies that benefit drama teachers and expand their experiences. To conclude, the book is about the theory and practice of drama teaching in primary and secondary schools.
