Download or read book EDUCACI N INTERCULTURAL written by TERESA AGUADO ODINA (Coord) and published by Editorial UNED. This book was released on 2017-09-08 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Diversidad cultural y educaci n

Download or read book Diversidad cultural y educaci n written by Xavier Besalú and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Intercultural Education and Literacy

Download or read book Intercultural Education and Literacy written by Sheila Aikman and published by John Benjamins Publishing. This book was released on 1999-03-15 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Indigenous peoples around the world are calling for control over their education in order to reaffirm their identities and defend their rights. In Latin America the indigenous peoples, national governments and international organisations have identified intercultural education as a means of contributing to this process. The book investigates education for and by indigenous peoples and examines the relationship between theoretical and methodological developments and formal practice. An ethnographic study of the Arakmbut people of the Peruvian Amazon, provides a detailed example of the social, cultural and educational change indigenous peoples are experiencing, an insight into Arakmbut oral learning and teaching practices as well as a review of their conceptualisations of knowledge, pedagogy and evaluation. The models of intercultural education being promoted by Latin American governments are, nevertheless, biliterate and school-based. The book analyses indigenous and non-indigenous models based on different conceptualisations of culture and curriculum in the context of the Arakmbut search for an education which respects their dynamic oral cultural traditions and identity, provides them with a qualitatively relevant education about the wider society and addresses the intercultural lives they lead.

Book Intercultural Education

Download or read book Intercultural Education written by Derek Woodrow and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-01-15 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in 1997, this volume is a result of a number of European Union and Council of Europe initiatives. The major stimulus came from an intensive course held in Lisbon in 1994 as part of two Erasmus networks exploring the nature of intercultural studies on a European-wide basis. Although the concepts of multiculturalism and interculturalism have frequently been discussed within a British context, this book draws on the interlocking and comparative persectives of specialists in education and teacher training in several European countries including Spain, France, Italy, Britain and the Netherlands. Educational policies and theories of identity are compared and there are special sections in multilinguism, teacher training, curriculum development, relationships between different ethnic groups and a vision of the future of intercultural education in Europe. The issues discussed in the book are significant in the development of modern societies as they seek to come to terms with the revolution in intercultural relations brought about by mass communications and global transport. The world is rapidly having to come to terms with cultural and social differences which can no longer be kept separate in their protective groups.

Book Decolonising Intercultural Education

Download or read book Decolonising Intercultural Education written by Robert Aman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-20 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the centre of Decolonising Intercultural Education is a simple yet fundamental question: is it possible to learn from the Other? This book argues that many recent efforts to theorise interculturality restrict themselves to a variety of interpretations within a Western framework of knowledge, which does not necessarily account for the epistemological diversity of the world. The book suggests an alternative definition of interculturality, framed not in terms of cultural differences, but in terms of colonial difference. It brings analysis of the Latin American concept of interculturalidad into the picture and explores the possibility of decentring the discourse of interculturality and its Eurocentric outlook, seeing interculturality as inter-epistemic rather than simply inter-cultural. Decolonising Intercultural Education will be of interest to educational practitioners, researchers and postgraduate students in in the areas of education, postcolonial studies, Latin American studies and social sciences.

Book Del racismo a la interculturalidad

Download or read book Del racismo a la interculturalidad written by Alfonso García Martínez and published by Narcea Ediciones. This book was released on 1998-01-23 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Transformative Intercultural Global Education

Download or read book Transformative Intercultural Global Education written by Barreto, Isabel María Gómez and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2024-05-13 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this tumultuous world, characterized by unprecedented migratory movements, societal evolution intersects with an increasing diversity that presents profound challenges. The global landscape is marked by 33 armed conflicts in 2022 alone, resulting in forced displacement and an exceeding count of 100 million displaced individuals worldwide. The traditional understanding of migration as a response to individualized prosecution has expanded to encompass "survival migration," incorporating environmental change and livelihood collapse. This paradigm shift necessitates a reevaluation of human rights and a compelling call for transformative global and intercultural education to address the vulnerabilities, inequities, and discrimination faced by displaced and native youth. Transformative Intercultural Global Education is a project aimed at shedding light on educational inequalities stemming from race, migration, forced displacement, and cultural factors. Through innovative empirical results, theoretical frameworks, and educational practices, this book seeks to contribute to quality education and, subsequently, a more sustainable society. The objective is to provide educators with proposals that strengthen educational policies and programs aligned with global citizenship, fostering sensitivity, critical thinking, and commitment towards respectful and tolerant coexistence. The research outcomes are designed to encourage actions that promote equity, social justice, and the sustainable development of a global society.
