Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to co-exist peacefully as equals without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But the peace has also made humanity complacent. Cheng Xin, an aerospace engineer from the early twenty-first century, awakens from hibernation in this new age. Download or read book Losing Eden written by Lucy Jones and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2021-08-03 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A fascinating look at why human beings have a powerful mental, spiritual, and physical need for the natural world—and the profound impact this has on our consciousness and ability to heal the soul and bring solace to the heart, and the cutting-edge scientific evidence proving nature as nurturer. “The connection between mental health and the natural world turns out to be strong and deep—which is good news in that it offers those feeling soul-sick the possibility that falling in love with the world around them might be remarkably helpful.” —Bill McKibben Lucy Jones interweaves her deeply personal story of recovery from addiction and depression with that of discovering the natural world and how it aided and enlivened her progress, giving her a renewed sense of belonging and purpose. Jones writes of the intersection of science, wellness, and the environment, and reveals that in the last decade, scientists have begun to formulate theories of why people feel better after a walk in the woods and an experience with the natural world. She describes the recent data that supports evidence of biological and neurological responses: the lowering of cortisol (released in response to stress), the boost in cortical attention control that helps us to concentrate and subdues mental fatigue, and the increase in activity in the parasympathetic nervous system, slowing the heart and allowing the body to rest. “Beautifully written, movingly told and meticulously researched. An elegy to the healing power of nature. A convincing plea for a wilder, richer world.” —Isabella Tree, author of Wilding

This book was released on 2004-02-05 with total page 667 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a sequel to my first book What the Bible says about the collapse of the universe, Life before the big bang. And the 200 billion year history of Christianity- the invisible war. This book The doctrine of THIRD WAVE CHRISTIANITY is really a distillation of the first book. The core of what the Lord revealed to me. It is composed of small booklets- Jesus, Satan, The Beast, The Lake of fire, and older booklets from the first book. The Catholics were the first wave and they discomfited Satan, The Protestants were the Second wave and they swarmed Satans camp and now are the Third wave Christians, space age Christians who believe in the collapse of the universe and Life before the big bang who will over run Satans camp and completely wipe them out. The book is designed for Christians who are also scientists and see no problem with the Bible and its compatibility with science. It gives information about the collapse of the universe, but with new material about the Beast , Satan ,Jesus , Africas unification and the founding history of all the nations . Third wave Christians are not to go out and make new Churches but they are people who ate the refreshing new information that we missed in the Bible, space age information. This book proves that Christianity is superior to Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism , Communism, and those who make science into a religion. Because the Bible says the universe will collapse and Science says the universe will collapse thats proof the Bible is Truth and that God exists. Logicians and Christians who are Scientists can use this book to prove that the Bible is True therefore God exists.

Download or read book Milton s Uncertain Eden written by Andrew Mattison and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-09-13 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study describes a variety of ways of thinking about place in the Renaissance and in Paradise Lost. Despite coming from different perspectives, they have in common the idea that the difficulty of the relationship of reciprocity that poetic subjects often expect from their environment destabilizes those subjects’ understanding, not only of environment, but of themselves. The study explores destabilization as it affects aspects of the poem from Adam’s sense of the landscape of Eden and the meaning of the Fall itself, to the relationship the ambiguous landscapes of Paradise Lost create between Adam and Eve, the poet and the reader; all of whom are struggling to make sense of the same problematically described places. To a surprisingly large extent, the description of prelapsarian Eden and the events that go on within it have in common a failed attempt to understand the nature of the surroundings. In observing the centrality and difficultly of this poetic discourse of place, the problem of place is found at the very heart of the Fall.

Book excerpt: From the author of Guns, Germs and Steel, Jared Diamond's Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Survive is a visionary study of the mysterious downfall of past civilizations. Now in a revised edition with a new afterword, Jared Diamond's Collapse uncovers the secret behind why some societies flourish, while others founder - and what this means for our future. What happened to the people who made the forlorn long-abandoned statues of Easter Island? What happened to the architects of the crumbling Maya pyramids? Will we go the same way, our skyscrapers one day standing derelict and overgrown like the temples at Angkor Wat? Bringing together new evidence from a startling range of sources and piecing together the myriad influences, from climate to culture, that make societies self-destruct, Jared Diamond's Collapse also shows how - unlike our ancestors - we can benefit from our knowledge of the past and learn to be survivors. 'A grand sweep from a master storyteller of the human race' - Daily Mail 'Riveting, superb, terrifying' - Observer 'Gripping ... the book fulfils its huge ambition, and Diamond is the only man who could have written it' - Economis 'This book shines like all Diamond's work' - Sunday Times
Download or read book Right Now written by David Levister and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2015-07-06 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Did the cross of Calvary truly remove every form of the curse? Did Jesus really make everything right for those who put their trust in Him? Or do we await another day when God will add to the work of the cross in order to complete our salvation? The truth contained in this treatise is the simplest of all truths. This book is not a study on the mysterious depths of the gospel, but rather, on the foundational principles upon which the church is to be built. Although foundational, the truth contained herein is one in which the church at large is unfamiliar. Though simple, this truth is simply profound and contains power to bring forth a new and radical perspective. This new perspective contains the ability to connect the believer to supernatural possibilities. This radical perspective of which I speak is a simple and honest look at the redemptive work of the cross. Could it be that Jesus' death, resurrection, and seating at the Fathers right hand has totally and completely rectified the human condition? Is it possible that as believers, we can experience and enjoy the bountiful and unlimited blessings of heaven by merely agreeing with what the Father has already accomplished through His Son? It has often been said that every believer has a right to be blessed, healed, favored, etc. The truth is, we have far more than a mere right to these blessings. We have Jesus' Right which guarantees that these blessings are not only ours, but they are irrevocably ours. Because of the redemptive work of Calvary, every believer is as much in the right with the Father as Jesus Himself. The moment we believe in Jesus, His righteousness is accredited to our account! Thus, Jesus' Right is NOW upon us! Truly, there has been a great exchange . . . He has taken all of our wrong and given us all of His RIGHT.
